Yeah I’m a bit confused too. So if I’m reading this right along with the changes, it’s 70/20/10 split, 15 dollars for entry. 10 is going to the pot, minus 15 dollars. The other 1/3 of the entry fee is going to the store?
Alright shit is too confusing and there is no reply for days. Pretty fucking important with money involved to make shit clear. This is pretty shady I’m passing on this.
Guys, what he is trying to say (from what I see) is that there is a five dollar venue fee. I know, because I ran a tournament in the same location, and the owner of the establishment wanted at least a five dollar cut per attendee. 10 dollars is your game fee (more likely than not, you will NOT be playing smash). He is going to take fifteen dollars out of the pot and put it towards the payment of the shirt for first place. The rest of the pot goes to the winners in whichever way he ratio’d it. I HIGHLY doubt anything shady is going on guys, I met this dude in person before and from what I know he just wanted to help bring out the community in dead ass Sacramento, same as I. If anything you should accuse him of, is that he has a hard time communicating his point so people can comprehend his intentions 
TL;DR version:
$5.00 venue fee (owner asked for the minimum of five, from me and most likely him too)
$10.00 game fee
out of the Pot, $15.00 goes towards the champ shirt for the winner.

edit: apparently the first post was updated to say 70/20/10. it is no longer 50/20/10. That clears that up.

did you just compare this tourney to evo? but yeah $15 and $5 goes to venue…why not $10 $5 goes to venue and $5 to pot. im guessing the reason why $40 pot for winner last time wasnt so buttery was the fact that it was $3 to the pot and $5 to venue? this is just a local man no reason to rob the poor and give to the talented. lets have some fun and go out and get some strange ass!

@jack/steve The venue fee does not go to me. So the whole $5 dollars is for Metropolis as a renting out place fee.

To go to San Francisco is gas money back and forth, pay toll to go over bay bridge about 5 dollars, and 9 dollars for parking an hour. You also will be in the CITY = Hoboes, The Ghetto, Windy/Cold Weather, City prices, etc. Be my guest and spend more money on that. I lived in the City before so I know what I’m talkin about.

15 bucks isn’t alot. 15 bucks isn’t even gunna cover gas to sf city. You also bet in money matches and people always do that after tournys which will equal to or more then a total of 15 bucks spent. I’m not FORCING anyone to enter so quit hatin. Its for people who are INTERESTED in a tourny.
I also will not lower the price because a few people are scared to lose and because it is already near the date. IF YOUR NOT PREPARED TO LOSE THEN DON’T PLAY. Even if you lose where do you go from there? You learn, reevaluate, and adapt. You only get better.
i’m sure none of it was directed at me, but just wanted to say i’m not complaining. i posted to make sure all the info are correct since missing info usually leads to “shady tourney” in a lot of people’s eyes. esp since there have been threads about shady tournies throughout america.
although, i agree that $15 is quite a lot for a non-major. but as i recall, the last time they had a tourney at this place…it was $8…$5 venue, and $3 to tourney. in which davis and a LOT of bigger names decided not to show up. however i was surprised that sf4 still had i think 30ish ppl turnout for such a ridiculous entry/venue ratio. soo…
although it probably won’t matter much. generally it’s better to have 1 venue fee so that people who are entering both tournies does not have to pay double everything else. but then again, i don’t know who are in the brawl scene and how many of them would play sf4. but i do know that if it was 1 venue fee and brawl was cheaper to enter, i might enter it for the “lolz”.
and just so people can start to have some sort of headcount for this tourney.

@vasaznion13None of it was towards you. I answered that question already on 10-16-09. Its 25 dollars for both games which means one venue fee. There is quite of bit of smash players both melee and brawl. As for head count its whoever comes from srk and smashboards plus all the people metropolis advertised to.
If I didn’t reply on here there was contact info from the beginning as part of the tournament info. If you could post on here you could have emailed. My email goes to my fone so I could have answered. Only one person emailed. I even said on 10-10 if there was enough people interested I could lower price. Up to the 17th it was around 3 people complaining about price. Its hard the week of because it is not my place. Metropolis has been advertising it so its too late to change. There will be another tournament there again so I can discuss it with the players at the tourny.

First and foremost learn how to deal with the public in a respectful manner if you want people coming to your shit, learn that 15 dollars is too much for the majority of people, and learn who the fuck your talking to. I already have had people talk to me who planned on going to that shit who now aren’t because of this shit.

dude youre taking it way out of context. i was just stating the fact that maybe the reason why people were complaining about the prize money being so little was because it was $3 to pot. if it was increased to lets say $5 this it wouldnt be so bad. and that robbing the poor stuff was referred to the top players around the area coming to make some money. unless youre a top player it doesnt really concern but yeah no offense tho. i just wanna get better as a player and you getting butt hurt over some comments? cmon man you should be bigger than that. smash players never should hold a sf4 tourney LOL. sorry that was a low blow.

@Sleazoid Dedede has a move that has a chance of spawning items. Makes perfect sense. He has a chance to toss out a capsule, which is a item that holds a random item. Best of 7 matches for finals will only take that long if the winner of winners bracket gets knocked down to losers and if it were dragged down to the 7th match each time. I clarified it thro posts last week and reedited the main part when it was addressed but I guess some people don’t get it. Gamegeezer also reclarified it for me.
