Street Fighter in Beijing?

As far as I’ve noticed, all of the major arcades have HF, not ST and there’s never anyone playing it. Sorry to disappoint on that front.

Thanks for the great fun this last weekend guys, good to finally meet up. Hope to catch you guys this upcoming weekend! I’ll have to work hard at that Blanka (-. -

Yeah, it’s good to have you on board, and the chicken feet afterward were pretty great too. Glad you could make it! You gonna be around most Saturdays? That’s pretty much been the routine for us thus far. Though after next week it’ll just be you, fake roogle and me around the city for a while, so I guess I’d better get my arse out to ?? for sessions and/or arcade visits.

Like Pombar said, glad to have you on board bro. I’ll be up for some online until Feb 1st if you and anyone else is up for it. Of course if AE is out here by that time I’ll be storming the arcades no questions asked. hehe Let me know when you want that WoW invite if you’re still interested.

hey guys im going to go to china in about a month

do you guys have any experience dealing with customs for video game systems? I heard something along the lines of video game systems being banned but the law isnt enforced or something crazy like that.

They openly sell video game systems in many places. I have never heard of it being banned.

3 of us went down to a tournament once for a PS3 as first prize.

so its all scare bs

thatll be the last time i take anything on kotaku seriously

They are in fact banned, but it’s one of those obscure populist laws from the early 00s, and as such isn’t really enforced at all that I’ve seen. Plenty of local college students have PS2s, and yes, many places in Beijing openly sell consoles and games (notably Zhongguancun, nearby Drum & Bell Towers, and Fuchengmen Parkson mall). But price-wise it’s probably better to pick up all that stuff off Taobao, China’s ebay equivalent, which is generally cheap and reliable.

so i guess this means i shouldnt have any problems with bringing my consoles on my flight to china?

I’ve been jetting around in and out of China quite frequently for the last year with a PS3 in my luggage or carry on consistently and I haven’t run into any issues so far.

I recall you said you have CvS2 and some other stuff you wanted to start up once you get your sticks modded. I just remembered my PS3 has PS2 compatibility on it if you want me to bring it over for next times. I’m talking to the guys at work and we’re gonna try to get a group together for the TW servers after this milestone is done.

I too have not had any issues with bringing my console in. My usual flight is to and from Greece and so far I have 0 issues with customs here. I buy most of my video game items online here in China, including console games, with no problems there either. I think I’ve read the article on Kotaku you are referring to. They are mostly stating the fact that in China there are laws against video game consoles but the majority does not follow them nor are they enforced actively (to my knowledge at least). You are pretty much in the clear.

@QQBert My PS3 is one of those first 60GB versions that has the PS2 BC but the problem is that there is input lag that makes playing fighting games problematic. Hence I brought my PS2. Plus, its modded so we can pretty much download and burn any game we want and play. Just gotta make sure my TV doesn’t have any noticeable input lag either. About WoW, just say the word and I’ll send you guys invites. Already got Pombar in. Hehe!

Yeah, we tried playing CvS2 on Rod’s old deathstar PS3 and the input lag was retarded.

Reminder! Tomorrow, my place! My last gathering in Beijing for a month!

Also, we are most likely going to rage in sanlitun tonight.

Deathstar PS3 made me lol. :stuck_out_tongue: Like I said I will be out of commission until I return from Greece. I wish you a safe trip, bro. Have a blast back home and I’ll catch you after the Spring Festival. ???

Sup y’all, finally got my visa in order - so I should be back just in time for you guys to leave. Just in case I don’t see you have a great spring festival!

–bricks were shat–

I actually too just got my visa in order. None of that leaving the goddamn country every 6 months. 2 year, Many many entries and no duration cap. Sup work visas.

Great news on the visa front Rod and durrrr, look forward to seeing you both in the next month or whatnot! Was a good one on Saturday, sorry for laming out before the end, but was pretty defeated on all fronts. Did you manage to stay up for the whole night, Jason? Hope the flight and accompanying jet lag isn’t too bad!

As for this Saturday, if all is still cool with doing the session at your place Al, have you got roogle’s number now too? I seem to remember giving you mine at the sake bar (not that my memory there is 100%). Text us the address if all is still gravy closer to the day! Also Chris, if you can’t get back to Yizhuang to grab your stick before Saturday I can always bring mine down obv.

Yeah, I stayed up the whole night. I still haven’t slept more that a handful of hours, really. I’m waiting in Seattle for my flight to NC now.

Pen Sixteen?

Is it still going to be sesh in Schlongjing Sat?

Also, does srk have a section for fanart/fanfic? I’ve got this really cool idea for an Ibuki-Starfox/Skeet Fighter-Twilight blend I’d really like to share with the community.

Alright gents! I’ve found a seller on Taobao that is taking pre-orders for MvC3 at 249 RMB. The only problem I’m seeing is it might be the Japanese or HK version. We’ll contact the seller to clarify this but in case people don’t mind the version maybe we can get him to reduce the price if we have more people ordering at the same time. Let me know if you’re down.

@mistermoy I saw skeet fighter and I have to say that I’m not down for a “sequel”. Much less so if it’s blended with twilight. :stuck_out_tongue:
