Good fun was had on Thursday, looking forward to seeing what comes of the captured footage. The black jacket’s mine, which caused a minor panic when I was moving house and couldn’t find it! Speaking of, are the usual Saturday plans during National Week changing, being expanded on, or becoming messy nights out ala Mid-Autumn Festival? Due to a severe lack of funds over the next month I won’t be doing anything exciting like travelling and will pretty much be free (and in Beijing) for the whole holiday, so I guess I’ll be pretty much up for anything that isn’t doing the studying I should be doing at the moment!
Yeah, I’m gonna be sticking around Beijing as well for the whole of National Day, so I’m down for some crack sessions/drinking (without pure soju, dang).

hey guys i wanted to ask you guys in China a few questions:
I wanted to play ssf4 online, Does any of you guys do it? is it possible? which console is better? where do you buy subscriptions and most improtantly how does the lag compare?
I am currently mainly playing in arcades here in the south but would love to have a few games with the newer characters (pretty much 99% of my experience is using the 16-17 characters from sf4 normal)

I do it occasionally, and yes, it’s totally possible (just make sure to run an Ethernet from your console to your router). I’m not sure what’s more popular in China but I’d guess it’s PS3 here since you don’t have to pay a monthly sub to play online. Lag against other folks in China is close to non-existant, but obviously depends on the person’s connection. YMMV with people not based in the mainland.
The whole console thing here is weird, cause on one hand the Chinese prefer the 360 because they can play bootlegs with it. On the other it is possible for online play, they prefer PS3. There is no Chinese Live or PSN because technically these consoles aren’t officially sold here. I get some nice connections with people in HK, Korea and occasionally Japan. As for subscription for Live, my guess is you would need to buy cards from Taobao or what have you.
I would avoid xbox live in China as basically every 360 sold here is hacked, so the online player base is going to be tiny.

Pretty much, yeah, since we all have a PS3. You can see our PSN’s under our avatars here on the forums. As for a stick, it depends on the kind of cash you are willing to invest. Personally, I bought two sticks made here in China. They’re called Qanba and they’re pretty good as the buttons and joysticks are Sanwa. You can look them up on Taobao. The one I bought, the Q2, goes for about 400-500 RMB. If you want something pricier, then you can probably find a TE on play-asia. If you’re unfamiliar with sticks in general, you can look around the forums and get some more info.

last time i checked i didn’t find any third strike player nearest place according to you is Shuanging which is far from me (wudaokou) .yesterday i was in cidan and i got beaten 9 times by some very good players in sf4 i got only three rounds.lucky bastards if i had a pad the score might have changed.i now play with Te stick the white one like mago has.getting used to it is hard but my urien has his basics now.
but one thing i have learned today is CPU is crap human player are he real deal and its also the best way to level up.

Welcome! It’s my understanding that Shuangjing is not that great these days. I’m pretty sure though that the general arcade scene will be more hype once the Arcade Edition of SSF4 is released. As for Third Strike, I remember seeing some good players there but not that many. We hold casuals almost every weekend either in Wudaokou or Zhichunlu. PM me your number and I can keep you in the loop. 99% of the time we play SSF4 but we get into other games on occasion for kicks.
