Oh. Well if we’re doing online tactics, then fuck it, just do Urien dash up throw into ghetto unblockable, or cross-up divekick into more divekicks with a twin. Or just play Makoto online and do anything.
Online actually makes karakusa, s.hp xx super way easier to fluff. I see it all the time on there lol
Again, IRL, playing off the actual board vs good players, they never miss it.
Ryu dizzy super is probably more effective now that it should be, so you can get mileage out of that if you’re determined to play shotos on ranked Live. Be advised Akuma is really weak on this, and just doesn’t have the kind of mindless and obnoxious ability to run a game down though a blizzard of lag like in SFIV.
I’ve seen Kazuya and other top Alexes do it like once a game on wake up or even just randomly, another good setup i’ve seen is jumping MK and unleashing stomp when you land, stuff like DOES work at an extremely high level, personally i rarely ever use it but definitely wouldn’t write it off
You’ve got bored of Ken SAIII then finally? Good job. There was always so much more to this wonderful game than rinsing same shoto, same super mirror matches for like 6 hours every night. I hope the OP has been encouraged to not go down that path.
dont play fucking alex…
be a beast and main chun, gouki, and occaisonally makoto.
nope…
:looney:t:looney:a:looney:t:looney:s:looney:u:looney:
till the weather clears.
Thanks for all the advice guys!
don’t play stomp Alex IMO
Better to eat losses and learn the game than practice online tactics and get blown up the first time you play someone in real life
But you can stomp people still in the air! Shit makes no sense. Q command grab, CnDB beat a stomp once, amazing.
“Don’t listen to MetsuTatsumaki”
Oh.
Replace with
PointBreak91.
Sounds a lot like me back then though. Let this guy pick one character. Do not run off things other characters can do, and worse HOW IT WORKS BETTER ONLINE.
We don’t know the OP’s goals, but being the online warrior - Who the hell is that anyway, Chad Kroeger? - Is probably not how we want new 3rd Strike players to look. You want to beat every online warrior… If you ever get them offline. You even want to tell him, hey - pay attention to the other guy. While he wants to say “GG’s / Gee gees” and run away. Hyper active dude, 100 mph Ken, 100 mph person.
Or play ELENA and ruin their day. I’ll show you the jungle. And all it might take is back Roundhouse Scratch Wheel to beat the dash up throw. or the land anywhere near, “option parry xx throw” definitely the go to move on side switching.
Empty sJump over “Whoo!”, Super thru the low trip guard attempt. “MINDGAMES!!”
^^I can tell we have an OE veteran in the house haha^^
Anyhow, I loaded up the game last night for a quick bash to see what the action was like. Here’s a clip against a totally random and basic Q showing just how fast Alex can tear shit up. Sadly largely helpless players like this seem to be the majority on there.

And here’s one of the best European Kens on there getting tagged in round 1 with the rush elbow xx stungun ‘set-up’. Both of us playing kinda lame here. This is like the 3rd match in for me, and as haven’t played for a while, was still very much warming up, plus of course with the netcode on this, it’s just a nightmare to hit even basic 3 hitters sometimes, eww

My advice, stick with Al, as if you have your basic defence and parry down, you can go on and deal loads of damage with his mix-up attack options, and win plenty of games on there. As for playing this game any more in real life, well… good luck with that if you live outside of Paris, central London, NY city, a few Cali arcades or Japan.
Note how top tier Ken is he can just smash through Alex’s ex stomp wake-up with target combo. Ex stomp usually works really well if they try anything over you as you get up. Maybe it’s Iron Galaxy’s expert re-reprogramming…
I’m not sure showing a crappy online match (full of rollbacks iirc) shows anything interesting/useful, except if your point is to show some online tactics.
I tried to jumping jab you instead of simply dash forward like i did next round.
And if you think i’m one of the best EU Ken, you probably haven’t played a good one yet ^^
ExStomp will never win over meaty cl.Mp, whatever version of the game you’ll play…
But you soon turned up quick enough, and you have 3s frame data in your sig lol
The clip merely shows just how trash it really is on there, and how arguably the tiers and tactics do change somewhat. It just makes me laugh when some people in the 3s threads claim that supers like Stungun or Hyperbomb never work, because clearly that’s not the case. Who knows, maybe IG were even trying to somehow rebalance the game on the sly? If I’ve crossed someone up with Chun’s flipover hk, and it hits deep and I go into super motion, why on earth is it then not connecting? Little things like this constantly really spoil this conversion. I’d like a patch, an apology or my money back please.
No one will contradict you about tiers changing online. Ibuki can be totally unplayable pretty fast when decently played, Makoto karakusa with 3 frames startup is dumb, Hugo 360 winning over pretty much anything in lag, Elena, etc…
Though, bad super still remains bad IMO.
So far, there is still no true gameplay difference found afaik, except maybe the stungun vs Q throw invincibility thing i found (but i’m not even sure about it), so if something doesn’t seem to work like usual it’s due to lag and/or dropping inputs.
Where are you from? NY? Our connection is yellow but feels like orange each time we played.
Ibuki v Alex isn’t good at the best of times, but with the frame drops and delay, she feels more her SFIV incarnation now
You are in France right? I am just over 200 miles away.
Only 200 miles? You’re in EU?
XBOX 1 Veteran - borrowed PS2 for Tournament practice, If there’s a 5th 6th bolt on a HAPP control panel where a palm or wrist can go, I fuckin hate that. And where have you been in these SF3 forums the past 6 months, or year? Whatever you say is “comedy gold” though. Continue because it sounds like you won’t get tired any time soon.
Slow down please. Other people around here can answer much better, and will have more knowledge. And let the OP post again before you throw 5 more things his way before he said he learned anything from you yet.
You’re taking like 10 different pages from strategy guides, and what works on paper, is a lot different from being organic and you don’t want to play by the book. You’re answering questions with some knowledge you know - sure, but he never asked any of those questions. You’re assuming a lot like you’re assuming everything about anything. Sounds like a guess parrier!
Stop with “Top Tier Ken” crying too.
Where is a 6 hour mirror match game going on? I can sit and play 50 win or lose, different characters, but 6 hours same super huh.
I don’t want to know anymore about you and Online. What’s cool is sharing experiences of all of our players on here, of Offline. Anybody you play locally who just kicks ass beyond the scope of “Ranked Matches” and does stuff on a real version maybe we don’t hear about? Or just to tell the OP, what is capable without the “Online” part. We all know Online is different, and maybe play it to mess around sometimes.
Who is it working on? Okay who cares!
3s topics >>here<< are not going to be about Online beating up n00bs tactics, but higher level play if we can help it.
Are you talking about Unity or GameFaqs or NeoGaf or what? Continue to laugh but if you want to suggest Stun Gun and Hyperbomb, take it to Alex specific forum and laughs will continue.
Well, why are you not going for cr MK there anyway if you hit meaty it’ll be easier and its good practice for: Best damage, crMK confirm you would have been practicing muscle memory anyway.
Have you made any connections to friend list some people with good connections to you at least? Or are you a Ranked Match drive by Shooter? Do you deal with the GGPO delay #'s for a better experience or have you left it default the whole way?
I played the game for 12 years under a variety of conditions thanks, so good job on your bizarre “10 different pages from a strategy guide” jibberish. Let me now make an equally dumb statement out of thin air: did you get into this game after you saw the wong parry vid and jizzed your pants, like a few others I can see in this thread did?
Whatever, scene is dead outside of A-Cho, and you can blame IG for that, not me. Online is the the only way to play many of these games now, for many, many people dude, guys like you can never get that through your head can you? Stay elite and isolated, and lol@being told to continue and slow down in virtually the same sentance, while being asked questions then told “I don’t want to know anymore about you”, what a doofus.
