All I gotta say is that for creating Dee Jay, you’re made of win.
THE MAN MADE A WHOLE STREET FIGHTER CHARACTER, PEOPLE. A WHOLE CHARACTER.
Too bad he’s only been used 3 times (SSFII, SSFIIX and SFA3).

james: yeah man, that weaponlord exhibition was dope, at neil’s place. i admit, it took me a while til i appreciated weaponlord for what it was, back in the 90’s, and it was definitely way ahead of its time, and in some ways it still is, since like you said, some of the system mechanics still havent been copied.
new 2d weaponlord on live would be so sick man!
but back on subject, shred nebula looks and sounds fun, it almost reminds me of a newage star control game, but sounds hella better! i cant wait to see video! i love playing live games, and its awesome independent games like this done by a talented designer that make me glad im a gamer still
edit: btw, great read on your site =)
Even though I don’t really like vertical shooters, I’m going to buy Shred Nebula, just to help you guys get one step closer to buying back WeaponLord!
I’m not much of a vertical shooter player myself, but I’ll definitely be buying it when it’s available.
i’ll buy it, i enjoy good shooters, and since you had a hand in HF i can assume you must be some sort of genius. Good stuff!
Fighting system vs Space Shooter
This is the last of the Shred Nebula press for the initial reveal.
This one talks a bit more about the factors we are bringing into space…
You should post those vids of 10th degree:wgrin:
Well, I guess I owe it to you then. I’ll definitely try that game out. It is good that you are aware of the genre you are ultimately placed in, while being compared other shooters such as the obvious big-selling Geometry Wars, AND still able to make a game you can claim to have made something new. That’s what, in my experience, are what other unknown or little-known companies fail to do.
awesome read on 1up james. im really hyped about this game.
/me waits for testing sessions =)
James, in the 1up article, they mention a super violent game that was unfairly canceled on you. Is that 10th Degree? Or something completely different?
If so, I REALLY need to see some footage.
Oh yeah, not sure if you remember this, but I sent you a fanart of Bane, like a year ago.
violent game
Hey!
Please send me an email again- I have a new PC and that is backed up on the old one…
As for the game, NO, it was not tenth degree (that was not so violent). IT was an adventure style fighting & gun game in 3rd person using the buffy engine and most of the buffy team- with me at the helm as project director. Footage is a very difficult thing because of NDA stuff. I am looking into it for my profile because it would help me get more gigs Just imagine a game, where you could seamlessly run up, break someones leg (backwards) and @%$&# blow their head off then or place a sticky mine on them – keep running by-- turn and as they are launched pull AIM your guns into ‘precision’ aim mode and proceed to shoot limbs and their head off WHILE STILL IN MID-AIR!! I had the whole Equilibrium multi-gun stuff too, with many fools loosing limbs and heads and being ventilated while moving at the same time and shooting in all directions. Ahh… makes me mad just talking about it. The game had missions and other goodness, but the beat-down to gun, to cover to aiming, to juggling, to guns to death just has not been touched the way we had it in 2002!! Gear of War of course is awesome and has better cover then we did/aiming dedicated play, so it is all the other 3rd person ‘baddass gun guy/fighting guy’ that I say are pu#%$&%-time compared to that game.
Here is a hint who has the rights. I have only had 2 games canceled in my entire career. I am 0 for 2 with the same publisher.
i’ll never forget when i got the office number of capcom usa from some tip book and called asking how to do guile’s magic throw. i had seen james’ name in some magazine being tied to the game. i called up, asked for james goddard, and he actually told me how to do it. too funny
Sorry James, can’t find your email…can’t find it on the CTG site, or your blog.
So, here’s just a link to my Bane pic.

ITT: we suck dick
switcher, thats freaking sweet man!
COOL! I remember this. Very cool man- I am sending you my email again to your account here.
Looks great!
Is there any chance of a Hyper Fighting Q&A thread…? I’m sure some people would love to have you answer questions about the development of that game
any chance this game will ever be on the ps3??? sounds very interesting.
Thanks Sabre, thanks James.
I’ll try and do a Korr or Jen-Tai somewhere down the road.
Hey James, its Marco. Everything sounds great. Get some videos up for us quick!
I forgot to ask you this last time…Im sure you have great depth for those of us that play at expert levels. But one suggestion that comes off the top of my head would be to make sure this game is accessible and enjoyable for newbies. Thats one of the things we were very mindful of on samurai showdown and KOF. Competing with street fighter based on competitive play and graphics wasn’t really possible. We could do other things like create cool characters with on screen emotions, voices, stylish combos, and a new fighting game system. This made for a very fan friendly game. It wasn’t just about game-play.
Will there be a tournament scene for this? I’m sure you would love that :wgrin:
The two hottest things right now seem to be UGC (user generated content), and multi-player online. Do you have any plans for UGC? Simple things like colors and logos may be a start.
