Fighting Layer is one of my favorite fighting games…ARIKA should make more solo fighting games! They should bring all of the SFEX characters they created into one fighting game and add a few more. That would be pretty cool.

Man I played this game like crazy over the weekend and I have to admit it’s hella fun, even though some characters are completely and utter bullshit to fight against (ie Dhalism, what a bitch).

I play Jack / Nanase.

wats the point of ace left and right! he’s he worst character on the game of close enough to it. And I agree with Kyosuke…we definately need an EX4…maybe on the PS3 with insane graphics and more things to unlock. I unlocked everything on EX3 in 45 min.

The point is that you can have 2 Ace with different techniques and yes… He probably is the worst character in the game, but some interesting things with him can be done…

What are you talking about? Ace is broken beyond comprehension. Two infinites + unblockable set up = teh broken.

He’s far from the worst, hes the cheapest charcter in the game when edited the right way. On the other hand he can be quite fun if edited in other ways. So hes not the worst play wise or tier wise by any means.

Back by popular demand I’ll give my updated EX3 tier list. I’m not too sure where to place everyone EXACTLY in each tier mainly due to teams enhancing a charcters performance (Garuda with Dhalsim for example) but everyone inside the tier does belong there. I’m also not taking infinites into account since some are simply too hard to pull consistently, are sometimes character specific, etc.

God Tier:

Kairi
Evil Ryu
*Ace

These two simply have everything going for them inside the EX3 engine. They are both great at keep away or rushdown, they build meter fast, excellent momentarys for 100% safe blocked combos, they can both hold their own by themselves and are capable of easy comebacks, high damage combos, etc. I put Evil Ryu in this tier and not normal Ryu mainly because he has just about everything Ryu has plus a ShoReppa type super, a better hurricane kick, and can build meter faster. There is no reason to ever pick normal Ryu over Evil Ryu in EX3.

Top Tier:

Rosso
Dhalsim
Garuda - only here due to his CP
Shadow
Bison
D. Dark
Area
Ryu
Guile

All these characters have good tag potential, unpunishable chip combos, etc. Rosso has easy 50+% combos via one super bar and a tag, Dhalsim is like the Cable of EX3 with his keep away and Yoga Drill Superx3 loop. If you want more specifics on each charcter just ask, its far too much too type.

Middle Tier:

Ken
Blanka
Zangief
Darun
Chun Li
Skullomania
Pullum
Sharon - borders on bottom tier depending on opponent
Sagat
Hokuto
C. Jack

Now we start getting into having to work much harder for results. All these characters can be good, but mainly due to a good partner. They can’t break defense all that great and most of the time cannot make comebacks when left alone. They also lack any good tag set ups and usually left vulnerable more times than they should. With most, mind games are going to be even more crucial here and once your opponent catches on its going to be an uphill battle.

Bottom Tier:

Nanasae
Vega
Sakura

Horrendous tag potential, can’t break defense, etc. Aside from combo follow ups off tags these guys simply were given the shit end of the stick in EX3.

Again sorry if this is not in depth enough, but if you want character specifics just ask for that one in particular, hope this helps somewhat.

Took this from an older post, not sure if these tiers still hold up, but I’ve yet to see anything that can dispute that Kairi and Evil Ryu are the tops. Nanasae I might put higher up now, I can definitely see more potential than before, but I’ve yet to see anyone use her in a beastly manner to justify a change. As for myself, Rosso/Kairi is my main, Dark with various mid tiers, and Dhalsim/Garuda for shits and giggles.

One LP dragon punch from Ace can equal an infinite or an unblockable set up into an infinite via the level 3 DP loop or lighting leg loop…how can he be the worst? Hes beyond broken to the point of being ridiculous.

Also Garuda cannot handle a good rushdown character like say Kairi, big damage and ease of use doesn’t equal best character. Almost all of his specials can punished, and he has very little in the way of mix ups. Garuda is like a one trick pony that does very well at first but can easily be figured out, theres just not enough variety to trick people, and not enough spammable moves to coast with.

Well I’m not talking about fun when discussing whos the best character. Tier wise Ace is miles above everyone else, fun factor wise I used to think he was boring with no momentrays, but with the right set of specials and supers he quickly became fun. Shoot Kick tags are hella fun. :tup:
