Street fighter EX thread(EX, EX+, Ex+@, EX2, EX2+, EX3)

I use Aldo’s Front-End for Zinc. I have the Firmware and everything, and it doesn’t start up. Do I need other bios as well? and what about those graphic plugins? are they neccesary to have zinc start correctly?

Ps- Oddly enough, I was about to pick D.Dark as well, but settled for Hayate

fireware.zip is for the older zinc (0.9), for 1.1 you need separate bios files, and by default zinc should come with 2 graphic plugins.

the bios for SFEX 1 is cpzn1 (aka capcom zn1)
the bios for SFEX 2 is cpzn2 (aka capcom zn2)

Taking this thread in a different direction (slightly)

Heres my opinion of D.Dark.

SFEX (Ex, EX+ and EX+a)

Good
Potential unblockable is good as is being able to combo a c.mp to c.mk (he loses this ability it at least EX3 if not eariler)

Bad
Can’t combo into Dark Wire :mad:, and only 5 frames in invinciblity of his Kill Blade (DP) make it unreliable as an AA, or even reversal.

EX2 (EX2 and EX2+)

Good
Combo into dark wire finally, Kill Wire (DP) is good if done earily, plus excel goodness, and still variations of the unblockable thanks to guardbreak. Gained an interesting juggling super

Bad
Still sucks that he lost his Kill Bade, even if it was flawed. Can’t combo c.mp to c.mk without it being meaty.

EX3

good
momentary pressure, combo into dark wire still, gains kill blade back as a momentary for some good damage and meter building, meaty surprise blow will still combo even if it doesn’t it a crouching opponent

bad
loses c.mp to c.mk (now as to do c.lk and thats only like 1 frame of lee-way), still can’t do kill blade by itself anymore

This was kinda like a pro and con of the different versions of characters.

Thanks to preppy I got a shipment of EX items.

First thing is my 3rd SFEX+a PSX guide… sadly all 3 do not include frame data.

2nd item is a jap copy of EX2+ for PSX and a 2nd copy of the EX2 mook (can’t seem to find a guide book or mook for EX2+ though )

3rd item is a japanese arcade SFEX board with mobo. Within the ram of the mobo it had all the characters… I then tried to see if it’d work with my USA EX+ board and it did. However when I put the jap EX board the game data was gone. Apparently when you switch boards it flushes out the ram. At this point there isn’t much point in putting the EX board again until I get another zn1 motherboard. So I’m keeping the USA EX+ board in there so I can eventually unlock the time release characters.

Thus far I’m going to bring the EX+ board to MWC, so to any of you goto MWC, you’ll see me there.

on a-cho.com you’ll see an image spliced into 4 parts. Click on the one that says arcade
From there, there’s a table of links on the left hand side, scroll down the ones and look for one named mov (its the 7th button from the top, you’ll see mov.html in the bottom part of your browser) click on that and scroll down to the appropirate videos.

Yea, you’re probably right. I assume an anthology isn’t in high demand and the series is pretty much forgotten about.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Being that EX3 is the only PS2 SF game I don’t own, I’m gonna try and get my hands on it. It’s pretty old now (am I to understand it was a launch release?) so I’m not sure if a game store around me will even have a used copy of it.
