EX 2 Plus ? Also what if D.Dark didn’t had any meter to excel , or if Ryu didn’t had any meter to excel , can any of the few listed above change ( “If he tries to shinku tatsumaki, D.Dark can excel in the air to land safetly and block the super and counter while Ryu is recovering from the blocked/missed super.” ) ?
Are there any instances where slowdowwn can effect gameplay in EX2+, and does it only happen on the console version? My friend was wasting meter with Ryu by doing empty guard break into shinkuu hadouken, when slowdown occurred. The slowdown kinda got stupid after awhile.
I’ve never had that problem. Are you playing the PSX ISO on an emu, or an actual console?
if excel didn’t exist then it’d be the same for expa and ex3. where basically only the shinku tatsumaki reversal can get him out of it. Or he could just try to block it
But the sequence of dark wire, dark hold, j.hk, j.hp, explosive will get him like half a bar of meter, so you could figure that half the time he’ll be able to excel out of it. And in that situation if Ryu doesn’t have any super meter then he’s basically messed up anyway other than blocking in a way that prevents the cross up.
Further examination shows that ryu can block the explosive almost immediately by holding db on wake up. Now he can still be cross up if he does that if D.Dark does a j.lk. How that hits will give D.Dark a approx 11 frame link to go into whatever he wants.
So what Ryu has to do is hold B until he blocks the explosive. Blocking the explosive while standing will push Ryu can far enough so D.Dark can’t cross you up.
Damn I feel like I demystified a legend.
So Ryu has 1 smart solutions.
Just block straight back.
All other options that use meter are potientally unsafe if D.Dark reads your attempt and excels through whatever you try (reversal Shinku tatsumaki, or reverse excel ->just frame DP)
Actually if D.Dark times his kara cancel c.hk to explosive right as he lands he doesn’t even need to excel through the shinku tatsumaki. He’ll land before Ryu’s Shinku Tatsumaki can hit him. (its a 2 frame timing to perform the inital c.hk which will be kara canceled upon landing from the j.hp)
But since most people probably won’t time that c.hk to explosive kara cancel right as you land exceling through would be the safest if you have the meter.
made a video showing what I explained above

Just found this thread, and i remember the old good days when sfex came out. I used alan a lot.
Just for the hell of it, I made this vid:
I was wondering if any of my fellow players were going to help update the SFEX wiki… I am willing to start on the SFex2 plus
Just as long as it isn’t the wiki that chanwa was working on. He goes and steals my work from my website to put on his poor excuse of a wiki.
All this is after they were complaining about heydad snipping a part of a chanwa video and highlighting the negative parts of it. Damn hypercrites I tell you.
If its the SRK wiki, than yeah we can help. I think I need to get a new account though, if I recall Wiz said something about accounts being deleted or something after the site got that major overhaul months back?
Yes… I was talking about the SRK wiki… I know I will be able to help with my part this upcoming weekend…
Actual PS2 console. It doesn’t bother me much. I was more interested if maybe there was an advantage to slowdown.
Not that it matters but, I managed to get more people interested and playing EX2+ in my area.
^ Good shit.
I had some slowdown in my arcade version too last I played it a few months ago. Maybe it was something to do with the region of the game. Like how Jp EX3 has lots of slowdown but they fixed it in the USA verison (my arcade version is JP).
What I’m basically asking is what region your PSX disc is.
was watching one of kyosukes sfexpa matches and didn’t realize that there was a sudden death in the game

I guess sudden death also gives you infinite super bars and a shorter life bar… kinda cool
BTW sudden death starts at like 2:25
I ran an EX Plus Alpha side tournament at our monthly SSFIV tournament on Saturday.
We had seventeen people so I had to play someone to get into the first round and then I was matched up against the only other player there who knew the game (and eventual winner) and he’s way better than me.
Some people took a look at it and dismissed it and just kept saying it was crap while playing it. Thankfully others gave it a fair chance and actually enjoyed it, although they wished it was faster (only have the PAL version on disc).
Does the PAL version of EX2 Plus have the same speed reduction that EX Plus Alpha has?
I’ve owned the game for a long time and I never knew about this. That’s really cool.
Is that vid sped up at all or is it the standard speed of the NTSC version?
I don’t think Kyosuke does any editting of that sort on his match vids…
Sounds good, however unlikely that it is, your are all invited to goto the SFEX2p tournament in chicago next year.
For the speed. I honestly don’t have the pal version of SFEX2p. I have it for EXpa but not EX2p. but it probably is just as slow. But that doesn’t have anything to do with the game. If you have a TV that does both PAL and NTSC, and make it go at the NTSC setting the game should speed up to NTSC levels. Assuming that it works the same as it does on the PS2.
Yes and no. Kyosuke plays the regular NTSC version that he imports from japan. He captures it at regular speed. However during the video editting process and uploading to youtube. The video speeds up just a tad.
I’ve noticed this even on my own videos that I’ve uploaded to youtube. I haven’t really bothered to check if its a video capturing provlem or a u2b problem, possibly even both. But Kyosuke like I play at the regular speeds, but somewhere between when we capture it and upload it to u2b it gets speed up a tiny bit.
