If only people actually had decent computer specs to play the Mame version without any lag problems so that more people would play online ( Easy way to tell is with pressing F11 and looking at % , if it’s usually always a 100 % it works fine ) .
I didn’t even know people played online.
Sometimes there is like one or two people over at Kaillera that will join a SFEX2P room . But most of the time there isn’t many players .

Have to disagree with you there. At least since excel combos have existed EX has taken a serious shift towards more execution. You are right that the combo system is extremely creative, especially in EX3 though it lacks excels, but you need to have your momentaries, your tricky links, your “hidden” combos all down and those depend on execution.
It’s as though if EX3 could talk it would say “OK, you can let your imagination run wild, but if your execution isn’t up to speed, that combo will exist only in theory.”
Thats exactly what I was like when I made my last combo. and all thanks to the program pad I can finally see the theory and imagination of my Evil Ryu/Sim combo come to life.
I think there is a difference between theoretical combos and practical combos.
Just because there are combos you CAN do and they’re hard to perform doesn’t mean there is an emphasis on execution. I still stand by what I said. And its not as if all character’s excel combos can be lumped together and share the same degree of difficulty. It goes right back to what I said about the game giving you what you put into it.
Sorry, but spout that kind of stuff after playing Fate where that game practically forces to you to learn things like TK canceling and hours in practice mode to just learn basic bnb. Even more so for low tiers that have problems getting over 2K damage off practical hitconfirms. This simply isn’t the case in EX.
Saying “because there are hard combos and I can do them because the system lets me with hard work” = emphasis on execution is a dumb statement.

Can I ask a noob question, why is EX2+ a good game and why would some consider it better then SF4?

Usually when people like a game a lot it’s considered good.
To most of us it’s fun, but the EX series may not be for everyone, it all comes down to your preference in gameplay.
Well just about everything is better than SF4.
I dunno why Evo singled out EX2 out the series, though. I think they’re all damn good.

I can definittely appreciate EX2 but IMO, ex1 and 3 are far better games!
If anyone can run the mame version of SFEX2 Plus well and wants to play online I’ll be at GodWeapons Kaillera server looking for some matches .

The types of combos I mentioned aren’t theoretical, but match practical. Watch some EX3 match vids on youtube and tell me how many momentaries and links you see.
Right. This depends on if the hard combos are necessary or impractical.
Excel combos are almost limited only on your imagination. It’s not surprising that the execution of some of them can be quite hard. The groups they can be “lumped” in is beside point.
Are you seriously calling involved momentary combos theoretical? If so, you’re disagreeing with the vast majority of EX3 players. If not, then what are you talking about?
If you’re going to drag in other games, why not add Ehrgeiz, where a fundamental technique like S-canceling takes a week or more to master? Fate is trivial compared to that.
I’m sorry you couldn’t make the simple mental link required to understand the difference between necessary execution and exhibition execution. I guess gamefaqs is sending their members this way now?

lol, well there was a lot of talk about EX2+ so I just figured that was the best or something heh. Anyhow, what specific aspects about the EX series makes it better then SF4?
@ Donkus, give me a combo that you believe that makes SFEX an execution driven game and is practical. It varied widely between characters and simple bnb can go from say using Ryu and Ken. 2MK (tag) 2MK, 236, supercancel, etc is not hard. 3 frames links aren’t that hard. I’d take momentaries over 1 frame links anyday. It really is dependent again, on character, most of the arika characters can make use of momentaries than the classic SF ones can; their bnb is much more straightfoward. Excels being hard? Sure, some characters like Hokuto, yeah. But most of the time its just like A2 repetition (Garuda) and you forget a lot of characters don’t even need excel in place of super canceling anyways. So yeah, it is revolving around theory and if you think it doesn’t matter please link me some of your match vids where you’re correct. EVERY game has levels of execution, but ones where I call them execution driven are where the mindgames and metagame clearly take a backseat to learning combos, like Fate where becoming better is so dependent just on learning better combos. SFEX just doesn’t fit in that category.
Evo I made a post earlier in the thread saying why I preferred the series but really its a waste of time trying to convert anyone who doesn’t want to. Just play the game(s) and see if you like them.

Where are my manners? Shinji, I haven’t been here in a long time, how’ve you been? Awesome how this thread’s still going. Are you reading this ^ ? Have you been to the 3S boards? It’s not hard to find posts like that. SRK has changed a lot in 5 years.
Can’t believe I never found this out until now: If you use the Demon Dream in the air Shadow gets in a swordfight with the enemy, but if the enemy has a special “item”, they use that instead of the default sword. Nanase uses her stick, Garuda uses his meteor sword, and Jack uses his bat.
So I just found that my Shadowgiest excel combo is kinda impractical. I dunno if I copied down my notation incorrectly or possibly a change in properties for the home version but I need something better than what I have…especially since mine only works on a jump-in opponent.
Also it seems excel damage in general has been lowered for the home port, as I was doing Garuda’s the other day.
yeah a lot of you guys, well hell practically everyone but me that was posting in this from the beginning stiooed posting in here. How dare you make the entire SFEX scene ride on my sole shoulders alone lol.
well hell, thats news to me too. this is the kind of stuff that makes me sad, if this were SF4 that would have been common knowledge within the 1st week, for SFEX I find out about it 10 years after it came ouit lol.
street fighter EX2+ was my first home street fighter, back when i was at the tender age of 9, and i’ve treasured it ever since. it may not be the most technically challenging or competitive or even serious installment in the street fighter series, but goddamnit, it was my game. it goes without saying i’d have never had moved onto SFA2 or SF4 had it not been for this quirky little game.
small find, sakuras mk (likely all of them) hurricane kicks are jugglable afterwards.
so say you have a team of sak and chun you can do some combo, tag, c.mk, mk.tatsu
chun: s.hk, super up kick, follow up however you want.
