Also for some weird reason the Training Mode CPU on the PS1 version doesn’t seem to safe fall out of corner combos:
i.e.: Ryu’s Corner J.Roundhouse - C.Strong - Level 2 Shinkuu Hadouken - Juggle C.Strong - Juggle Level 1 Shinkuu Hadouken
For some weird reason on SFA Anthology , the CPU always safe fall after the Level 2 Shinkuu, while on the PS1 version, it sometimes does and sometimes doesn’t.
Heheh you don’t know the half of it, PS1 CPU sometimes cancels heavys into heavys (somehow) Karin can use her anti-air super in X-ism. Hitbox priorities are changed, the CPU flips out of (supposedly) unflippable moves.

The double heavies and CPU Karin using Kick super in X-ism is in the arcade too. =/
k, thanks for clearing that up.
In the arcade version they used a darker version of Sakura’s stage without the people in the background. She got her own background in the console versions, though I think you still get the old stage if you play the CPU Sakura vs Karin, or something like that.
ah that makes sense. thanks for the info.
Saturn version is expensive and rare, though some people loved it because it was the most arcade-perfect of all the ports, and still had the extra stuff from the other console versions (except for the special Saikyo mode from the later Dreamcast version). If you’re looking for the extra stuff, you might as well get the PSP version since you already have he optionally-arcade-perfect PS2 version, though I hear PSP control requires some modifications, at best.
I don’t have a PSP yet-- but I do a have a Saturn with a few good pads…
oh man, there’s a copy of the Saturn version up on ebay
(there were none just the other day)

kinda tempting, but I can’t justify that price for one game, especially one that I can already play on PS2, Dreamcast and MAME.
PS2 AA CPU X-Dan can now perform a Shinkuu Gadouken. That’s something I never saw in the arcade. Anyone else?
I read something interesting

z3 upper is NOT the dreamcast version. I’ve said that like a 83653865873658735 times. the dreamcast has crouch cancels, upper does not. the dreamcast can build meter from wiffing throws, upper cant. V-ism got raped harder in Upper, A ism got strong, X got weaker, which made ni sense. all the console characters are present, yes, even including shin akuma and shin bison which totally makes the game scrubffest.
upper is trash. upper would have bben fine if it was the original a3 release, or if it was released not too long after a3. but they waited almost 3 years for that upgrade.
so Zero 3/Alpha 3 on Dreamcast GD-ROM is not the same as
Zero 3 Upper on NAOMI GD-ROM. System16.com gets it wrong again.
Deathscythe:
The best version to get right now is the Anthology version. With the dipswitches, you can set it to near-arcade perfection. Probably the best and easiest way to get it.
The Saturn version is pretty damn expensive. It’s the equivalent of Marvel for the PS2 when it comes to pricing. And it’s much more rare as well.
Yeah anthology rocks! Also has Alpha 3 Upper(or is it Max?), with its added characters on the disc too.
I’ve been reading some of the older threads on SFAA, and to my horror, there was talk that (at least Alpha and Alpha 2) are based on the PS1 versions. that’s not true is it?
glad I have the MAME ROMs to compare, but I haven’t had time to do so.
I forgot if the DC or Arcade version of SFA3 Upper had Guy’s corner dizzy combo? I know it still works on SFA Anthology .
I like Street Fighter alpha 3 a lot. I have the arcade at 2 streets from where I live so I play mostly everyday :).

A1/A2 in Alpha Antholgy aren’t based on the PSX versions, though they are modified versions of the game IIRC, where they changed a few things (just in A1, I think?). If anyhting, closer based on on later revision of the arcade version.
No, Upper isn’t the same as the DC version. Upper isn’t even the same as Upper; arcade Upper is different from the GBA Upper which is different from the PSP Upper which is different from the Alpha Anthology Upper.
damn, all the Uppers, it’s even more confusing than I thought.
wish I was you.
Most A3 machines get replaced constantly. Glad to see some still going. :>
