Whatever though, saying 3s is unbalanced isn’t unreasonable. But I don’t really see 3s getting a big boost in playerbase if all the sudden Necro was way more viable.
Yeah, but it would fare better than it is now. The game would be more fun as well.
Sorry, but I have to call BS on this considering many fighting games have at least two completely lop-sided matchups where tiers aren’t even a factor. You keep on talking about Chun/Yun/Ken when you’re missing out on the bigger picture. Those three are NOT the reason why low-tier are low-tier. What about Dudley vs Hugo? Elena vs Twelve? Ibuki vs pretty much all the big characters? Sean vs Remy? If you say none of those matchups matter, then asking for a rebalance is pointless based on your own logic on what makes a fighting game good.
My “vision”?? LOL I guess my "“vision” was Capcom’s vision too. I enjoy 3S as-is. You just sound upset and bitchy because you get pwned severely at the game.
I doubt it. I don’t think its very likely a rebalance of 3s would get nearly the kind of support at majors that HDR does.
we need to get udon to rework the sprites on this asap
When have I ever said that those don’t matter? I specifically named the top three because their prevalence over the rest was prominent and obvious. All the others are important as well. I called for a re-balancing of the game, not just of the top three.
You’re a regular at Denjin, aside from the usual 3S players, have there been any new faces in the last months/years? I’ll wager a guess and see very few to nil. It may not get the amount of support that HDR has gotten but it would still renew interest, the game will benefit in the long run.
No.
oh. i thought i was being polite.
they should make 12 godlike, that’ll get mad motherfuckers to play.
Those who want a rebalance are people who will only play the game for a month or two then start playing ssf4:AE or MvC3. They have no real intention in learning 3s as much as the people that play the game.
I’m just gonna jump in here and say that the idea that it always needs to be a level playing field is not a universal one. Not every culture believes the most important aspect is an even start. Some find value in the weak overcoming the strong. My friend had no problem with Sagat being so strong. He felt that just made it that much better when you win. Don’t assume your perspective is shared by the designers because they’re not like you. They don’t value all the same things you do and they didn’t make 3S for the US.
Your idea of what makes a game interesting has nothing to do with what makes 3S interesting for the people who it was made for. You’re not them. I’m not them either but christ, at least I can understand that the game wasn’t made for me and accept it regardless.
3S is unbalanced because it’s an odd game. It’s an odd and wonderful game. Either love it and accept it or move on. They tried things in SF3 through 3S that really upset what had come before. They changed shit up considerably and the end product is, without a doubt, unique. If you can’t accept it for it’s uniqueness, which is what inherently makes it ‘unbalanced’ then just ignore it. Ken is supposed to flow from move to move cleanly and fluidly. Did that turn out to be really strong in 3S? Yes it did but that’s Ken’s style. Twelve is designed around the idea of a character that can move in ways no one else can. That ended up as a weak style of play ultimately. They’re both drastically different from each other and that makes things exciting. Twelve plays NOTHING like Ken. It’s a cast of character’s with strong themes and unique styles that in some cases make them obviously powerful or obviously weaker.
You can’t achieve balance with more than 1 character. Since that is the case I’d rather have unique and interesting characters than everyone being more homogenized for the sake of ‘balance’. 3S gives you the tools to dominate with anyone.
I would like to see kariidos level of skill in 3s and even other fighting games.
Coincidence that it’s always the random Joe blows who want nerfs and rebalances?
Ps. If every character was even, the same players would still be winning.
im a random joe blow but i like the game for what it is. that’s all there is to it. people who have been playing it in any form for years like it for the game it is. not what it could be in light of the recent trend of releasing half finished products and patching at a later date.
Nothing against the blows. I was just noticing that it’s always the most random fuck with the rebalance this rebalance that mentality.
People want things handed to them. “Ooh, he’s overpowered.” “I can’t beat him.” Shite like that. Like, some random idiot messaged me on AIM wondering why I still played an “outdated” game (referring to 3rd Strike) and all the while, toting about how his Guilty Gear and BlazBlue were so superior because the developers were “trying” to make things fairer and rebalance things. Nevermind the fact that he was some scrub who ignored how BlazBlue had a god-tier of two characters (Litchi and Bang, IIRC) and Eddie seems to always be the end result of godlike in Guilty Gear (correct me if I’m wrong; my knowledge is rather shaky on these games) while all the while bashing 3rd Strike’s Yun-Chun-Ken top tier, even though I gave examples of how the tiers weren’t always the definite.
Shite. 3SO will be arcade perfect. Fuck the haters.
There doesn’t exist a perfectly balanced fighter. Aside from Karate Champion or some shit. Every single game has one character that is superior to others. 3S stands out because it has the tools where if the player knows what he’s doing can compensate for this and win. 3S is as close as you can get to a perfectly balanced fighter. The game is okay as is, that said I wouldn’t mind the low tiers getting buffed at the least. I can’t imagine all of you guys just freaking out, taking your TE Sticks and smashing them into oblivion, and spamming Capcommunity all because Remy has a higher stamina and can link off of another attack, or Alex’s SA2 doesn’t suck and he can link off of crMK, or Sean is playable. I can’t imagine everyone getting all upset over that except for a handful people who will be the most vocal.
Yeah doesn’t really matter much. If they made 12 and Sean really strong and we took a delorean to 2013 we’d just have the same idiots making these comments. Except it would be “fuck all the Sean and 12 scrubs. So cheap!!! Spamming basketballs and overpowered xflats.”
Everything about this. Overpowered xflats just sounds ridiculous.
Overpowered XFLAT. 2x damage when hitting airborne opponent, three bars.
Basketballs give Sean Q’s defense and instant Gill’s attack boost.
The future doesn’t look bright for 3rd Strike.
Street Fighter 3 : 4rd Fiesta
quick thought: lets say in theory, they some how make 3rd strike rebalanced to the point where every match up is 5-5. is that really going to turn anyone onto the game that doesnt already play it? theres a few random games i think that would be really fun to learn like last blade 2 and vampire savior lately but never has “is this game super balanced” ever come to my mind. balance isnt something that makes a game more appealing (or fun). if anything the presentation of the game is what makes it appealing (music, art, etc). if i moved to some random ass city that had an arcade with a sick kof 98 scene id actually be interested in learning it because it appeals to me more than something like sf4.
my point is balance isnt something that turns on most people onto a fighting game and i doubt it ever has or will.
