Why does everyone oppose rebalance so much? Is 3S not a rebalance of 2I?
Why are some of you pretending like 3S is perfect? Nothing ever is there’s always room for improvement.
I will say that I disagree with most of the suggestions here though, parry doesn’t need to change and neither do the top tiers. But its pretty obvious that certain characters are trash and could use some buffs. Sure some character specialist in japan can still get wins with them but that doenst change the fact that these characters are ass.
Also I don’t recall anyone on this thread asking for easier commands like SF4 so I don’t get why some of you are bringing that up.
Rarrrrrrrr!!! Raaaaaaaaggggeeeeee!!! Lol that’s all I’m getting from this thread. I can’t wait for this game to come out. I never played it too seriously but they shouldn’t change a thing. Can’t wait to get my ass handed to me and have some good sf battles. Ssf4 is easy mode compared to 3s. A day one purchase for me.
I can soften my stance with reasoning like this. It’s not scrub shit talk. Capcom may good and well rebalance it. fine. But give me the option to choose. any rebalance will split us like it did HD remix. Who knows what effect it will have? Flash G, Damdai, Nohoho, Doyle brothers etc…none of them like HDR. (Damadai not too sure, he’s still kickin ass in it) I have yet to hear any OG ST player really sign off on it. we can prevent that same fate with 3s if we get lucky
3s perfect? no sir…I’ts perfect as is but the game isnt perfect. no game is
But where does the catering to the casual players end??? You cant even tick throw cats nowadays without my message box getting filled up online with complaints. We cant have them nerfing this and that. Once Capcom starts waving that nerf stick who knows what will happen. That why IMHO i think they shouldnt nerf a thing .consider it a customer appreciation gift from Capcom to me. wishful thinking yes but lets at least make it known
no matter what game when i hear talk of rebalance from a scrubby mindset it annoys the hell outta me
If they threw their money into anything but SF4 at this point I’d feel better about it.
If people who never played 3s (or maybe even SF before 4) dig 3s when it’s re-released, cool. If not, oh well, they can keep playing that other piece of shit.
Its perfect as is but its not perfect? I dont follow.
Again no one is asking to dumb down 3S or turn it into SF4. And I agree with you they shouldn’t nerf the top characters(That was in my post please read it all). I all I’m expecting out of a rebalance is some of the bad characters to be buffed up a bit. Is that Dumbing down the game? Is that gonna make it noob friendly?
I not gonna lie I’m pretty scrubby and I’m defenitly not a great player but even I can see that certain characters clearly have better tools to compete.
The issue is, once you open that flood gate, it will cascade into all kinds of stupid, I get what you are saying, I really do, I just (and I think I am speaking for the majority here) dont trust the dev team to get it right, at all.
Every fighting game ever has lower tier chars, deal with it. I take pride in Hypah bombing Chuns and Kens into oblivion…
Ok I’m not gonna lie, I’m not a scrub at this game.
I think they should really remove Chun Li. I’ve lost too many tournaments cause of that bitch. Most average American players will never learn how to beat Chun Li or never learn how to truly unlock Chun Li’s cheapness, so either way its a loss loss to keep her in the game.
Yeah I understand that, not that I think that they would look here for any advice on balance but I always hoped that since there are some knowledgeable people here that this would be the best place for that info to be, but instead I only see two extremes its either dont touch it or completly change it.
I know every game has low tiers, but when theres a chance to improve them why not? Not that I expect every matchup to turn into a 5-5 but its better than not even trying.
Dude you answered your own question. You said you wanted top player input? Well guess what? Top players don’t want 3S to be changed at all. The problem is that you are projecting your own assumptions of top player opinions that they will actually want the game to be changed. They most likely don’t want change. It’s not that the game should be changed no matter what just for the sake of change, it’s that top players, veterans, people who have been around the scene for a long time, do not want change because they know that an arcade perfect port of 3S will do far more for the scene than anything else. They want to play the game that they love and have been playing since 1999 or whatever.
Look at what happened with HDR. You had basically the cream of the crop of U.S. SFII players designing that game. Sirlin, Choi, Wolfes, NKI, Valle, and so on. You couldn’t ask for better player input. And what happened? Everyone who is hardcore SFII from before HDR existed hates HDR. Sirlin is the only one who likes HDR over ST and he has an obvious bias towards the game. Hell CigarBob just called HDR “an abortion” recently in this sub-forum. Now the U.S. scene is split between HDR and ST. And the Japanese are having an ST renaissance and we are left playing this gross inferior version. You want that to happen with 3S?
What would be best for 3S is simple. Make 3S Online arcade perfect for the PS3/360. Arcade perfect it cannot be said enough. No remix no changes. That means that the Japanese and international communities are essentially playing the same version and not split into two camps. Two camps like an arcade camp and bad console port camp, or even worse, an arcade camp and an HDR-3S camp. The Japanese could come to EVO or a major regional and easily transition to console 3S. We could play and practice on console 3S and easily transition to the arcades. How amazing would that be?
^^You just explained 2002-2009. The short answer is outside of the American players who always go top 8 only the players from hot spots with major scenes were able to develop new talented players. In all honesty, SF4 is pretty much the same way. Its just very hard to become elite level at a game based on only online competition. No amount of balance changes is gonna fix that.
I wasnt making any assumptions, just saying that I always hoped that top players here would suggest or dicuss changes that could improve a game since they would probably have the best ideas.
I cannot say much about HDR but IIRC it seems that sirlin’s input on the game outwheighed all the others. It does suck that HDR didnt even get a console release in Japan. It almost seems as if capcom is ignoring the existence of that game. Didnt this already happen in the SF2 scene between HF and ST? So is it really that one game is terrible or is it that its just different and certain players just cant accept the new changes.
I honestly would not want 3S to be changed if it was only getting released here in the states though that really does suck but I think this would be handled differently than HDR since ono is behind it not backbone.(lesser of two evils?)
Hey man I’m right in the middle. I actually hopped on GGPO yesterday and played 3rd Strike for the first time in over a year. Wow was I fucking rusty…so much stupid SFIV shit creeping into my 3S gameplay, but the years of muscle memory prevailed and I ended up not playing too bad overall. I’m opposed to this complete rebalance bullshit that people are spewing, because some of the suggestions are stupid as fuck, but I’m not opposed to slight tweaking. I’ve mentioned some already and I’ll repeat them and maybe mention more later. Reduce Chun’s SAII damage…that’s it, no changes to normals, no changes to meter building, no other changes at all to her. I don’t see how that can seriously seriously affect her gameplan. It just makes me not so goddamn scared to get hit by a crouching mk. How about Alex’s SAII has a little more range on the grab at the end so the shit doesn’t whiff if I was just a little too far away. This one may be a little extreme, but change the length on Genei Jin’s bar and make it last the same amount of time…or just reduce the damage on it (which is what I’d prefer). Like another guy said earlier about Elena, how about her cr mk is a true low hit. This change might be a little deep for some but I like it…how about Ryu’s SAII has a little more range…like you could hit that shit off a cr mk from max distance or almost max distance like SAI. I think making some of the other supers for characters a viable choice would be enough change for me. Like if Alex’s Hyper Bomb was 0 frame, or if you got hit with Sean’s SAIII it would hit for the full animation always. If there were better or more damaging ways to hit Twelve’s SAI…or if the meter was shorter.
And let me make my stance clear. If they said they were going to either release a rebalanced version or the original and we couldn’t have both, I would certainly choose an arcade perfect version of it. But I wouldn’t be opposed to having both.
why do u view these what a couple 100 people(?) as more important then hundreds of thousands of others who will also be paying money for this game. 1 capcom is a company trying to make a profit, they dont work for free, so they’re not gonna make a game to please the 5 people still playing 3rd strike. those 5 people are already playing on ggpo. but w/e they said hdrm cost more money and time then they thought, they probably wont do anything to 3s, you all will probably get your wish, but its pointless since it already exists. i still think 3s needs something new to spark interest since it has less fan base then st or mvc2 did. chun-li…that is all
