It’s stupid elitism and looking down on new players like this that stops Third Strike from growing in a significant manner. Who cares what his background is from? Just let him ask his questions and voice his concerns.
Third Strike is one week from release, let’s be positive with each other and save that talk for in game beat-downs.
I, for one, can’t wait. My Dudley, Yang, and Ryu are waiting to gear up again. We should get a Live/PSN sharing thread for when it hits.
It’s not elitism when the question itself is trite and whiny. Nobody’s trying to keep Crimson Cobra from wanting to play, but seriously I’m starting to roll my eyes whenever I see posts like that because he keeps talking about it.
I don’t know why anyone is ‘waiting’ to play. You can play right now. You could have been playing for months if you were interested in 3soe.
I didn’t mean to come off as specifically rude before. To me it was more funny than annoying. I guess I don’t understand how people are approaching this. The game has been emulated for a number of years now too. If you want to practice 3S you don’t need OE, you don’t need a console even or a stick or whatever. You need the computer you’re (most likely) already using.
Get to work, sitting around waiting and reading things doesn’t make you better.
As for the elitist attitude. It comes from knowing what people who actually play and enjoy the game are like. They simply don’t discuss these things. They don’t care. Most of the best 3S US players don’t even bother posting here, or if they do, it’s kind of rare. The US 3S community is out there and already established. A bunch of new people aren’t going to suddenly take over and re-invent the game here.
New players need to just go out and meet those groups, it’ll change them radically for the better (I would know). If you can’t make the effort to even practice in advance on PC why would anyone bother to give your comments or opinion any credibility? I’m sure in 4 months tops the amount of people posting here will drop drastically and we’ll see the same few people we did months/years ago still posting instead.
Just to be clear. I would love to have another scene closer to me of newer players. But only if they actually want to play 3s. Not just be a social group who also plays SF4 and MVC3 and BB and whatever else. I sort of complain or rag on people because I want them to stop being lame and start improving. Everyone here has the potential but only probably 2% of us will actually attempt to reach it.
yes it makes a lot of sense but i just really really hate running into the same characters constantly i like a better variety of characters compared to a pool of just one or two
it shouldn’t be bothering me this much but every other fighting game i’ve ever played i had to drown in the same crap over and over again so that when i did run into someone different someone whom i’ve barely played against it caught me off guard and made me lose my focus a little
honestly what else is there to talk about one week from the online edition launch? except strats who your gonna use and maybe planning tournaments
The day the game comes out, thousands of new players are going to be waking up to a bright sunny day, a 6 pack of mountain dew, kettle cooked chips, leopard skin snuggies, and a brand new custom stick that has artwork of the 3s character they want to play. They will turn on their console, and seek some online matches. They will lose 5 games straight, write essays on srk about why they STRONGLY believe x character needs to be nerfed. They will never turn the game on again, and continue their crusade to nerf character x.
guess i shouldn’t care too much if my match isn’t a little harder or very hard
i just want to prove to everyone i have what it takes to be a third strike player and i am willing to temporary retire from SF MK And MVC to do so
i won’t just cry and quit the game like a lot of newbies on day 1 i’ll keep going no matter what until i am sure that my skills are good enough
No, you should be concerned about your matchups, like when you fight a good Akuma player… But you shouldn’t constantly bring it up.
What separates the vets from the newbies is that we don’t scream for balance patches in games. In fact, until SF4, every game that had a balance patch of some sort was rejected, like 3S’s no unblockable version. We get around our bad matchups. You want to be a 3S player? Stop bringing the topic up.
