Itās a BnB punishment combo, but itās hard to land outside of punishment situations.
HP Flash->MK->EX Flash is fine if you donāt have a stocked Super, not to mention you will push the opponent to the corner for positional advantage. If you really want to save that meter though, thereās always HP Flash->German Suplex, though thatās best used as a match-ender(like after you stun the opponent).
Alex is my secondary to Ibuki so I can add some stuffs.
MP and HP flash chops are used to frame trap people and bait parries. Theyāre difficult to parry on reaction with the right block strings and if you catch someone going for an OS parry and you blow them up with the MP or HP flash chop you get big damage.
You canāt use HP flash chop to start a bnb practically though because HP flash chop has a lot of start up and is predictable to parry when not used in frame traps. You have to be at rather close range to utilize any of Alexās bnbās any ways. Unless youāre at range to scare the opponent into a grab youāre best off setting it up off a c.LK.
The only one you can use from a range is s.MP to EX flash chop or EX slash elbow (which whiffs on short characters like Chun). s.MP to EX slash elbow will connect from the furthest range of any of your bnbs. Against Urien who canāt crouch s.MP you can confirm into EX slash elbow from a long range.
Once you get within close s.MK range your basic bnbās areā¦
(EX flash chop is qcf+2 punch buttons, EX slash elbow is charge back, forward+2 kick buttons)
close s.MK to EX flash chop or SA2
j.HP/j.HK, close s.MK or s.MP to EX flash chop, EX
j.HP/HK to SA2
c.LPx2 to SA2
UOH to SA2,
c.LK to SA2 can work as a mix up after a whiffed j.HP but you donāt really get enough time to hit confirm it. Outside of that youāre going to be doing Zangief style stuff to set up mix up damage.
c.LK or close s.LP tick at close range to LP power bomb,
c.LK to spiral DDT (preferably LK or MK DDT hcb+K),
UOH to LP power bomb
UOH to MP or HP flash chop
j.MP (whiff), c.LK power bomb
j.MP (whiff), c.LK to SA2 combo or j.HP (hits) confirm to SA2.
j.MP (whiff), throw, kara throw or LP power bomb
c.LK, c.HK or c.LK, s.HP overhead etc.
j.HP/HK or j.MP whiff to c.LK to LK stomp or MK/HK stomp cross up.
j.HP/HK or j.MP whiff to EX stomp (to bait throw techs)
He has other strong mix ups including charge partition stomp based left/right mix ups that are safe on block and difficult to parry on reaction but those require higher execution that youāll probably learn in Alexās trials when the game releases any way.
A.X.E isnāt safe on the block⦠AT ALL(itās like -5 or -7 on block, the air version is like -4)⦠EX versions are good for chip damage but still unsafeā¦
If you meant cr.lk xx n.d.l is a good block string, sure⦠but iirc, a.x.e is no good unless youāre cancelling a st. jab into it as an anti-air, but if your opponent expects a.x.e, then you will get punishedā¦
I also much prefer cl. st. mp as a hit confirm⦠you have hella time to cancel it into stuffā¦
Also EX A.X.E is hella unsafe on the block⦠I mean itās a decent option on the wakeup if you donāt get super predictable with it⦠because if your opponent blocks you are eating a super or free combo from any characterā¦
If youāre playing Twelve to score big damage, youāre playing the wrong character⦠itās all about that poking game(no homo)ā¦
I mean occasionally you can landā¦
IAD (insert normal here), cr. lk, jab axe(hit confirm) xx x.n.d.l
But other than that⦠nahā¦
so is anyone up for my idea of A Launch 3SOE Tournament?
there is standard 4:3 supportā¦
I might be down for that. I donāt know what my schedule will be when itās released.

Iām actually Kuroda but no one believes me when I say it and they all just laugh instead
I do know a thing or two about Alex and Elena from when there were threads for them years ago in this section of the forums, so itād be like refreshner course.
ā¦and itād be fun =P
Is anyone planning on maining more than 2 characters? Right now Iām using Elena, Alex, Ryu and Q when it comes out. I also feel like using Hugo thanks to his appearance in SFxT.
Speaking of Yun and Yang, are there videos that teach their basic/best SA3 combos and set-ups?
ā¦and about Yang, why do some players give up all the EX meter for SA3? I donāt see it doing much damage.
PS3 wireless is FUCKSHIT at tournies.
Also what is it with people trying as hard as they fucking can to play a bad character?
Iāve pondered this many times myself!
Hey whatās going on in this thread?
Sounds similar to Alex situation up there. Iād personally rock SA2 at first to actually learn the character, how his ex moves affect his overall game plan, and how much I actually see myself using them in tandem with the usefulness of the super in question instead of sacrificing that for the reset/mix-up potential of SA3.
Also more likely than not itās probably match-up dependent.
Just a bunch of parry spamming scrubs talking about some old stupid broken game.
And I see Yang SAIII picked against Hugo almost every time. Why? Dunno. Easier to do unblockables on him with it? Dunno.
eating 3 seiei enbu divekick crossups really hurts.
if you think seiei enbu sux, you should play this guy i know named rom. you can visit his twitter here:
FUCK YA son we finally got da legond himself on twitter
i jst wish heād make a formspring so he would answer all my tang questions cause i admire his yang style so muych and think hes really cool and sick

There shall be no easter unblockables in this thread. 3rd Strike is the GREATEST thing to happen to this thread. You are all lucky for it, and shall one day, by itās hand, become more than just merry men in a laymanās environ, NAY. WILL COME THE DAY WHEN WE TAKE BACK OUR ARCADES AND FIGHT FOR OUR HORSES SHOE ALL THE WAY UP TO POINTY THING ON THE HELMET - HENCEFORTH KNOWN AS NO FLY - AND DIE FOR THE GLORY THAT IS āFUCK YOUR SHITTY ARCADE! MINE IS BETTER!ā
Amen.
