USUALLY if they wake up guess parry, then they aren’t expecting any sort of throw to come out of you. Too many players try to go for the meaty to press the advantage, which isn’t really a bad tactic, but sometimes you need to back off. With 12 i’d throw a mid to max range NDL so if they wake up parry it, they can’t immediately respond…whereas something like a Makoto standing strong that gets parried is fucked because they can attack you right after the parry.
Then again, you could just super through a parry too. That might get those guessing bastards.
He’s saying that he can see everything that happens during the match. Knowing what every character can do and having tournament experience against sooo many different play styles opens your eyes to the game. It’s like a sixth sense. I hope thats what you meant Exodus. I’m pretty sure it is.
see, now you made me feel like a dick. well played sir.
what i meant was, and really, you can’t deduce it from what i said because i was just trying to be funny. – the objective of my post isn’t to tell people to play better so i can start beating them. i’ve no problems beating anyone to a very large degree. that’s not why i play on ggpo.
i play to
a.) have fun
b.) help out players who are seeking help to improve their game
when i said you are blind, i’m saying that i’m not having a hard time beating people, and thus resorting to calling them guessers. if therefore, you weren’t blind, then you would see that i am trying to do point b.), to help their game.
not my intention at all, I was just hoping you’d drop some wisdom on me.
But yeah, to me guessing is the essence of third strike. There are some situations where its relatively riskfree to guess[tick tick, down parry, throw if nothing happened] , and some where its really unfavorable. [Cornered by chun]
Oh and while I’m on this pedestal…
I think to help people improve their game the most important thing is to help them improve their fundementals or the language or the game. Don’t do wake up shoryu all the time, well WHY not. If you just say, don’t do it; then you’re sucking away an option from a newer players limited pool. The goal then is to provide them with the words to play the game. To beat a throw, you jump or backdash or tech. Once a person understands the core concepts they can get creative with it.
Just something I thought of as an example, its kinda like a beginning poker player who plays all the hands just because if I’m not in I can’t win anything, and once I’m in I have a chance to win! This chance may be infantismal, and further just by being in the game, a more experienced person can bait you into betting huge. Suddenly the new guy is broke and he doesn’t even know why, because he never understood the game being played. He didn’t get that it had almost no chance of working, or what the other player was even doing to him.
If you are up against someone who knows how to parry, you’ll lose. That’s why I don’t really like that game all that much, but I still play it. If there wasn’t parrying, so many matches would of been changed.
But then again, I also hate the throwing in SF2. It’s just as broken.
He’s putting you into a 50/50 and now you’re in a guess parry situation. Either he’s an idiot, or trolling hard. Just block it by refusing to acknowledge his existence.
…isn’t that the lesson to be learned from this thread?
Nah there’s always another reason why a game is good or bad. If the game has stupid things like parrying, huge throw ranges or infinite combos, then it’s immediately horrible. People don’t play games.
