I read that as “Uncompressed 720p60…is 6 trillion bytes per minute.” (as opposed to what I believe was intended, 6Gb, gigaBITS, per minute.) I was amazed at how anyone could have enough HD space to keep up with that
Does Twitch just hate the east coast or something? I can’t even stream at 500kbps on there, but on Own3d I can do 2000kbps without a problem.
It could be that twitch servers are west coast based? I’m streaming from Guam and it’s not THAT bad for us.
Yeah I think Twitch is mainly west coast. I switched from their NY to VA server and everything is fine now though thankfully.
It’d be wonderful if somebody could give me a breakdown of their machine they use to stream. Preferably someone who streams in HD at a silky smooth frame rate.
Has anyone managed to get electec (VoIP or gaming) mike/ headset combos working with a mixing desk?
If not, does anyone know of some examples of other ones that will?
Broadcaster headsets are meant to be used with mixers, headsets such as the Audio Technica BPS-1 or Sennheiser HMD-280.
If you’re using an electret microphone headset you’ll need to fabricate some kind of signal boosting preamp before going into the mixer.
The Yamaha CM-500, which is an electret headset fortunately comes with a bias adapter.
For 60 bucks, the CM-500 isn’t too bad and the overall build quality is good. It’s value is slightly higher than what you pay for.
If you just want to use your own microphone headset, you might need to search online for a bias adapter on its own. I’m not too sure if Yamaha sells it separately.

Straight from his Critical Edge Article. Hopefully that’s a good baseline to work with. I’m sure you’ve seen 8wayrun’s streams and Jaxel always strives to get optimal stream quality with what he has.
Ah, that’s perfect. Thank you sir. Greatly appreciate it. (:
Just have to record and use a Loseless codec to create a 1,5Go/ min files.
With a dedicated 500 or 1To HDD, it fit.
Kind of a make or break deal with the Avermedia USB HD DVR.
Does it use DirectShow? Meaning, can it be used as a regular source as if it was a webcam for wirecast/xsplit/FME/kitchen sink?
I’d like to know if it can for a mobile streaming setup on a budget.
Also, anyone have any experiences with the Avermedia Game Broadcaster HD? It seems like a great PCI-E card with D-sub INPUT.
Avermedia Game Broadcaster HD is an excellent card, very popular card in competitive PC game streaming
The USB HD DVR needs to communicate with the first party software
Yeah, I’m excited to upgrade from my AverMedia HD DVR.
Oh, so its like a hauppage? Salty.
I think anything with a hardware encoder isn’t DirectShow, correct me if I’m wrong. I dunno if most USB (USB3 could work) cards would even work, IIRC they’d need to dump the display uncompressed into memory for them to be DirectShow…
Yeah, thankfully I found a solution in Avermedia ExpressCard HD DVR. Since express slots have much higher data bandwidth than USB 2.0, it actually can stream in 720p. However, component only!
Lucky I have a metric butt-ton of component equipment.
Look for “PS3 Xbox360 LAPTOP” on Ebay, you will find the HD80E from Timeleak.
It’s an ExpressCard with HDMI slot in up to 1080i.
Running like a DirectShow Filter, it’s the best capture card for laptop with ExpressCard34 slot.
Hi, I have a hard time to get a good quality stream on wirecast. I have 10mbit upload an icore7 cpu computer. What’s a good setting for it?
Hey guys… the next version of my XSplit Panel Writer will be coming next week… However, this new version will be a bit different. Up until now, this program has been free, and I will continue to make these older versions available for free. However, this next version I release: version 1.4 will be sold at a $10 premium. Why the charge? Because this new version hooks directly into the TwitchTV API, which allows you to not only update your channel status from within the program itself, but also run commercials according to timers! Since these new versions deal directly with making money, I’m charging for it…

As you can see, the new layout of the program is “shorter” and “wider”. If you’re using a 1080p monitor, and are streaming at 720p, the program will now snap in nicely below XSplit without covering the bottom row of scene buttons. Because of this, I added an “Event 4” field just to fill in the extra space. The “Match Titles” tab has been unchanged.
The “Lower Third 1” tab has been changed quite a bit. In the previous version, each lower third tab had 1 header, and 1 summary; the “Lower Third 2” tab keeps this design, but the “Lower Third 1” tab has gained a second set of headers and summaries. The reason for this, is that it makes it easier to give names and twitter tags to commentators, as well as swap the names, in case they switch seats. Naturally, if you don’t like this change, you dont have to use the second set of headers and summaries…
The big change to this mod is the addition of the “Twitch.TV” tab. Its pretty self-explanatory… You sign in and authorize the app. Then you can edit your channel’s status directly from within the program. In addition to that, you can run commercials with a click of a button; and set a timer to remind you to run commercials periodically (when the timer is reached, the tab title will change to the clock). In addition to that, you can set it to run the commercials automatically based on the timer!
