Yeah the original plan for there to be a cab and superguns fell through, and they announced that it was going to be run on HDR classic mode, but then rcaido came through at the last minute and brought his head-to-head candy cabs. Thanks rcaido! I was really looking forward to playing on arcade hardware for the first time, and I’m glad I got to do it
The timing on arcade hardware is very different from what I’m used to, I guess because theres a lot less input delay. This means you have to press the buttons later in combos. At first I couldn’t do any combos at all, but after a while I got used to it a little. I dropped a lot of combos and blockstrings in matches though. Like: I try a crossup j.mk and it’s blocked. Now it’s time to do st.fierce into safe rekkas, but oops, I pressed fierce too soon and I just stand there and get DPed. But the flip side of the timing was that I could actually react to fireballs by jumping in and hitting the opponent! amazing
Did anyone save a copy of the stream chat? I kinda want to read it, haha.
Of course I’m an online warrior! I have played thousands of hours on ggpo and this was my first offline tournament of any size, hah!
I had a great time
I don’t think so. Stream chats usually get lost unless the caster decides to put it up on the stream overlay. This is rarely ever done, since it takes up so much space.
But even so, you did amazing for your first tourney, and I’m glad you enjoyed the experience. Even though you missed a lot of your CW hit confirm combos, you did extremely well in the tourney. Scary to imagine what you’d do if your timing was fully adjusted.
Hey Hyphenated, i was told there were problems with the cab setup i brought. Did you experience any problems? I would like to fix it if i can, i went home i tested everything out & seems to be working fine. All buttons & stick were new, so im hoping its not some kind of wiring issue.
Well that quick connector for the mp in the 1p cab came off a few times. I remember the second time I saw it happen, it was right after a guy played who slammed on the buttons pretty hard when he was pressing them; I’m guessing that’s what caused it to come off. And the screen glitched out if you put in coins too fast. I didn’t know of any other problems besides those two.
If somebody else had major problems it seems like they probably would have told me about it since I ended up running the dang bracket after the first few hours and I was constantly telling almost everyone in the tournament to get on deck for their upcoming matches.
rcadio- really appreciate you bringing your cab so we could have a tournament
hyphen-ated- mad props to you for taking a 3 hour bus ride to compete in nwms. you played well.
thanks to everyone who ran the event for letting st be a part of nwms.
