OK OK OK…maybe its a little nfair to compare a wrestling game to a SF game. I will say this though, 3rd strike is almost as broke, if not, as broke as CvS2 and MvC2. The only reason why you guys are playing it is because it hasn’t been cheesed out yet in Stockton. But seriously though, create a character, custom entrances, beautiful gameplay engine, perfect reversal system, you can’t beat that. DOR2 is Awesome! Do any of you guys play wrestling games? Wrestlemania 2000(64), No Mercy(64), DOR1(GC), DOR2(GC)…nobody?
seriously i’ve played all N64 wrestling games! No Mercy, WCW vs NWO… all of that! but the N64 (THQ) wrestlings were the best… after that… it just got cornier and cornier because AKI team got dropped anyways im out! good luck on findin ur wwe comp!

Second, Wednesday was a good ass day for some CvS2. Nick and I were cleanin’ house until Blackheart and Lee showed up. I had a mean 7 win streak with K-Zangief, Morrigan, 2cammy. As always, some newbies (that played pretty well) got destroyed by my Gief and Nick was givin’ a demostration on how to rape with N-Chun (damn cr.forward xx lvl3 Kick super xx superjump.hk > land > cr.roundhouse xx lvl1 fireball super)

Yep, No mercy is the best wrestling game of all time. My friend is always bringing over DOR2 and I kick his ass all the time AND I always create the best characters.
Nah. MvC2 is full of glitches, gaurd breaks, infinites etc. Plus it’s dominated by 4 characters. CvS2 has so many things you can exploit and it can get pretty turtle after a while. It’s also dominated by Cammy, Sagat, Blanka or some played out A-groove team + Roll cancel. You have more of a chance winning in 3s with 12 or Q than you do at winning MvC2 with Roll or CvS2 with kyosuke.
3s has got to be the most balanced fighting game I’ve ever played. Not as much to exploit and tiers arent as much of a factor in 3s. I love MvC2 and CvC2, but theres no denying that they’re extremely broken.

What are you talking about?! 3rd strike is ruled by Ken and Chun Li. Well, I guess it’s possible to win with everyone is you parry and counter everything. That’s why P-Groove rules in Cvs2 right? Haha.

actually p-groove has more disadvantage than advantage… cvs2 speed and frames are just not as parryable… iono… and plus you cant really get frame advantage even after parry because in cvs2 the frame recovery is so damn quick… i may be wrong…
we’ll let you know fo sho when there’s one on weekends… most likely not though…
What’s wrong with Q? He’s really good at 3S, especially when he gets those taunts out. I’ll save face and say that he’s not as good as say KenSAIII, Yun SAIII or ChunSAII, but he can deal the damage and last a very long time.
Another thing, those top tiers i mention can be contested with lower tier characters like Dudley(SAI or SAIII), Makoto(SAI or SAII) or even Necro(SAIII). The huge parry window and the fact that red parrying DOES make a difference bridges closer the gap between top-tier and low-tier characters.

Yeah, but it’s too hard to get those taunts out if your opponent knows what he’s doing. Q is definately in the bottom 3 of 3s. All the tier lists I’ve seen have put him as the very worst character. IMO Sean is the worst. Some would consider Makoto to be Top tier even above Yun. A good Dudley can rape a top tier character and Urien can dominate too. Yang, Oro, Ryu, alex etc. all can dominate top tier characters if the players are good enough.
Tiers in 3s arent based on which characters are overpowered like MvC2 or CvS2, but by which characters have the most favorable matchups.
You’ve played xvsf right? Easily the most balanced game. Even with tiers.

Well I’m seein’ if I can go to that Modesto Boomers tourney on Saturday so i dunno 'bout that. Sunday is pretty much the only day I have left for me to finish up some leftover school work.
Back to 3s: From what I’m seein’, this is how I rank every 3s Strike character. The higher the character he/she is from the top, the better in their class.
Top Tier:
**Yun (SAIII): **Geneijin is an all offence onslaught that builds up quick and is hard to defend
Makoto (SAII): Best dash, crazy fast, can cause 100% stun damage!
Chun (SAII): So many setups for SAII, very good poker, great kara-thrower
Ken (SAIII): Pretty much very good overall, SAIII is insanely useful in many links and combos
Mid Tier:
**Urien (SAIII): **Very good at juggling w/ high damage, SAIII = good mixups
Dudley (SAIII): Also a good juggler, command dash through projectiles, good character specific combos
Akuma (SAI): Strong character overall, good mixup possiblities, takes most damage though
**Remy (SAII): **Very underrated normals that are pwnage aa’s, great juggler
Hugo (any SA): Very strong overall, easy freakin’ target
Alex (SAI or SAIII): Very strong but not as much as Hugo, can cause easy stun, lack good crouch moves
Ryu (SAI or III): Strong overall, great in air vs. air, not as useful as those above
Yang (SAII or SAIII): Average in everything, not as useful nor offensive as Yun
Q (SAI): Best taunt, Best kara-throw, hard to set-up moves and combos (but when you do, expect good beefy damage)
Oro (SAIII): Can cause a lot of stun, lack of useful normals and set ups
**Ibuki (SAI): **Super fast, SAI = good block damage, takes 2nd most damage next to Akuma, relatively weak, specials do small damage
Necro (SAIII): Can cause a lot of stun, underrated offensive machine, too much jump hangtime or start up lag
Low Tier:
Elena (SAI or SAII): Good kara-throws, aa’s aren’t too reliable, non-EX moves aren’t too good and hard to set up, SA’s do crap damage
Sean (SAII): Slightly above average mixup possiblities, slightly below average everywhere else
Twelve (any SA): Solid poker, can’t get any useful combos, SA’s deal lame damage or has too many disadvantages.
I edited it a little bit, all I did was move Ibuki up 2 ranks and dropped sean hard after an hour of play.
Second edit: after watchin’ some Makoto (J) vids and playin’ against some friends that play a badass Makoto, I placed her in the top tier catagory

Fairfield:
I went to Fairfield’s tourney, and I’m the only 3s player from stockton (sad), and lost all my matches. I did come close to winning some of those. Mental mistakes. There were well over 20 people for 3s. 3s is slowly overtaking cvs2.
Also I went to Modesto’s cvs2 tourney on the 25th… the cab was ridiculous… they put it outside! So everyone was kinda pissed because it had glare and all that crap… Some modesto dude took 1st… Khan got 2nd… His brother Hung got 3rd… My friend Chris got 4th… Blackheart was top 10 i believe… and this c-groove guy from Sacramento came out of nowhere and started raping everyone but he lost in crunch time… his name was Josh P… he looked like jesus christ… :wonder:

Followup question: What did the Modesto dude who got first place use? N-Yamazaki perhaps?
