Also, my Xbox is getting disc read errors against a bunch of random characters/costumes. I need to bring my harddrive to someone’s house and do an install because I’m pretty sure it’s the disc reader that’s fucked up rather than the actual disc. Can I bring it over Wednesday, Rex?

Actually, a lot of characters can bait marvel mashing, just no one is doing it yet. Also, just because I said both games were guilty of rewarding mashers, never did I say it was the same. I said one was just as guilty as the other, which does not imply an equivalent but an equality. Both give an unfair advantage to the loser, but I don’t think it’s the same advantage. Call it equivocation if you will, but I don’t think anyone would argue that the problems of MvC3 = the problems of SF4. In that sense, I feel like you are arguing a point I never made.

The actual problem that I was discussing is that both games reward the loser, which is a key concept in SF4 that people seem to defend, or at least glance past. Where is this defense for Marvel? NOWHERE, because all these ‘experts’ are getting their shit pushed in. In terms of good characters (which 90% of scrubs play) you CAN mash to ultra. I’m sorry but FADC is not hard and the biggest of scrubs know how to do it. I would argue that this got a little better in AE, but that game is trash as well. Top tier 3S characters, made to be top tier, is not too much fun. Nobody liked Genei Jin the first time either.

I have seen what’s dumb about Marvel, and it’s the people AND the system. Why doesn’t Justin (and other top players) lose to Sentinel? Because he did the research and upped his game, which everyone will do shortly (hopefully). Nobody doubts that X Factor is stupid but to say that this is somehow worse than SF4? I think you’re barking up the wrong tree sir.

I won’t argue which is game is worse because I think we have both already staked out our positions, and it’s all opinion from here. What I will say is that I feel that attacking MvC3 without attacking SF4 is a hypocrite and fool’s errand because truly they are both crap

I agree with superfx here. Either we up our game to beat smasher or just don’t play it if you don’t enjoy. We lose to smasher because we suck period. I emphasize WE. The game has faults for sure but it’s hella fun.

That’s being said. Can anyone help me with a problem?? Everytime I play mvc3 on my xbox. With different char’s super, Sometime the screen just went blank for 2 secs during animation. Why is that?

MvC3 is the best game if for nothing else is that i was able to force rex to successfully re-enact the dark phoenix saga(right before thor smashed his hammer into wolverines face but whatever rex beat me in the last set. honestly everyone was happy. rex got to move up in the tourney and I got to smash him in the face with a nordic hammer).

“bla bla its not competitive abloo abloo” i don’t fucking care, it’s actually fast and high damage and matches don’t consist of what feels like 30 minutes of walk back walk forward grab-ass(don’t get me wrong i love walk forward walk back grabass as much as the next street fighter player but doing. it. so. slowly…wears out its welcome real quick).

I’m going back to SF2 (hyper or st) as far competition goes, you guys are all cocks for not wanting to play that with me btw, but its whatev once i get my computer shit figured out i’ll be back on ggpo to get my shit kicked in by random Brazilians so its all good.

If i got time i’ll swing by hookups for marvel tho, definitely want to dig in deeper into the system and see how far it’ll go, i’m just prolly not gonna enter majors or whatever unless they happen to have any particular sf2 game there. Sorry Jeff, I want to help you get better and “represent” and whatnot, but i honestly don’t care for this game like that. besides that i probably wont be able to get up to your level quick enough to be of any help for final round, or evo2k11 anyway. I’m not being self deprecating, i’m just being real. i’d rather just level up more in sf2.

i had no interest in MK9 until i started seeing some recent videos … game looks hella fun. for my aesthetic tastes i think it has some of the best 3D rendered characters in a 2D fighter i’ve ever seen … and the blood/gore doesn’t look super corny like the last 10 years worth of MK games.

my goal in fighting games is basically just to have fun. i’m only worried about leveling up my proficiency to the degree that i can have fun semi-competitive games with a large number of people. i’m definitely a far ways away from that, but i spend the majority of my time trying to become godlike in mixing drinks so it dominates the most of my free time. i’ve been working on mixing with rums for the Don Q Rum Competition next month so i can earn a seed to compete in the Manhattan Cocktail Classic so expect me to suck at MVC3 for a long time to come.

Yo s’all good, I feel that. I’m more than willing to admit this is an argument without an exact answer, especially since we’re less than a month into Marvel and not even into AE console yet. In fact, I’d love if kfc only was lvl 1 or 2; I think it would solve a lot of the game’s problems. Sad they likely won’t fix it.
