Glity, I’m in absolute agreement there. Reason I wouldn’t attempt to rush out there, hopefully with my schedule loosening up I can get more done on that front, been using AE to try and up my execution there (seems to be less forgiving than marvel) on chun…hopefully I can start to yield results in the coming months between my busy schedule and that.

Oh, btw if anyone is interested in my laptop, let me know. There’s a strong possibility that come the new year I have to be in Mississippi down in Biloxi for two months or so (military stuffs I gotta do eventually, regradless), so I’m looking to upgrade before heading down there so I can keep my play up. Those of you who have seen it know it’s in good shape. Drop me a line if anyone is interested (I don’t know if it can run a stream though…it has the connections and that and goes to the 47" TV I have at home here quite well, I’m just not sure about the inverse as I haven’t tested it yet) and we’ll talk price and that.

i may not be handing them answers on a silver platter, BUT i am telling him all the problems in which then should be worked on. so in a way, im guiding. i agree with you on this for sure but the thing is, im pushing the bike, but they gotta peddle.
example:

then scrubzz should know he needs to work at his fireball game instead of chucking it like candy, work on standing at “sweet spots” against characters(which you have to learn through character match ups), and learn other ways to get out of situations/mix ups other than to rely SOLELY on dp. tell em what they should be doing? so tell them how to play their own character? most people i talked to, thats a slap in their face. to me thats not guidance, thats just them being lazy and want to just be told everything.

yes, i trained peaceful, and he can vouch, i was the same way. i told him what he lacked and if i saw it again next session, id put him on blast real bad then he told me he’d hit the lab and work on them and ive seen improvements since. so maybe scrubzz isnt hittin the lab and is expecting things to be handed to him which i dont do. you dont retain the info that way in my opinion. if you can figure the stuff out on your own, it’ll more easily be worked into muscle memory and retained.

short story, ill let you know what “I” think you should work on, but i expect work as well from the other side. i want folks to still have that fire like when we first announced the 5 v 5 max out. get creative, do anything really. just dont sit there and wait to be told what to do. unless you want to be treated as a robot.

:cybot:

yo who remembers this video lol

I play pretty much everybody except for Morrigan, Felicia, Hsien-Ko and Lilith. Gllty plays Aulbath (Hope to play you next week at that cab tournament). Kurasa plays Sasquatch. Rex might play him too (Think I remember him saying he’d body me with him.) and Omicron plays Felicia.

Psychoshot doesnt play, I’ve never played Rex or Omicron, kurasa sparkster and myself are the best players but we are super casual.

A lot of the same info here that you’re used to seeing on these tournament posts. But I highlighted some important info to be aware of … so take a gander!

All tickets not drawn on the night of the tournament will be held over for a big raffle drawing on December 11th at our year end tournament. You can “level-up” your odds by generously donating to the STL Bar Warz fund. You support the fighting game scene locally (helping us get better equipment for the live stream and tournaments) and also increase your odds of winning awesome stuff. The grand prize in our December raffle is a totally custom STL Bar Warz stick which will be dual modded and feature and LED light show, made by our community’s very own Raoul Duke!

NOTE : A reminder in case you were not at our last few Tekken tournaments. Matches will be 2/3 matches instead of 3/5. This is done in the interest of keeping the tournament paced correctly.

Also something important I wanted to put out there.

We’ve been putting in some work on the stream lately to make it more streamlined and easier to run. Matt got a new laptop that’s more capable of running the programs we need to run, and he just picked up this really cool HDMI hardware that will improve sound quality and let us switch between two setups when we stream. This is really exciting news and is another step in the right direction for the stream.

Now we need your help. We’d like to designate two people per game during the tournaments to be the official announce team. We’ll also select at least one person to be the official “swing” announcer to jump in when someone has a match or needs to hit the rest room/etc. This will give us a more cohesive presentation and get us more viewers. It would be preferable to have one announcer assume the role of play-by-play (analyzing the more technical side of the gameplay … think UltraDavid/Seth Killian/James Chen) and someone else providing color commentary (giving player backgrounds/history/humor/catchphrases … think Yipes or Forgotten Kazama!) … obviously people can call anything as they see it … but this has been the formula in sports announcing for generations for a reason.

During casuals the announce booth is more open to all comers as its always been … after all they are casual games.

For this week if anyone would like to stand up and do some announcing for the following games let me know. (SoulCalibur announcers would be cool too).

Let me train for a few hours and i’ll see somebody in Grand Finals

Glen- that’s legit, don’t worry though i think the sunshine and lolipops are kinda done with. You know lately all i’v been posting is how bad everybody sucks (you’re all fray :P)

So here’s what EVERYONE should do. Please start option selecting at least some of the time, please stop backdashing all of the time, please stop burning meter on reversal attacks, don’t reversal unless you have a reason in your mind to do so (if you think your opponent will meaty and you are going for a risky reversal you may as well do an ultra- before you think i’m trolling watch Latif in the top 8 of Devestation. If you’re going to reversal- make it game changing!), please work on anti airing random jumpins, please start playing some proper footsies (tahldon you have improved a lot in this area since i called out your approaches), and work on gimmicks/tricks…these are needed when you need to pry damage out of the opponent, and lastly work on your matchups big time- i’ll help with KC’s characters at Danno’s and FnF. And work on your damn throw techs- you should never be able to get throw by a tick like jab, jab throw in 4 it’s so easy to break. Only reason to get thrown is when they sneak it in or when you’re looking out for frame traps. Oh and get some nice frame traps down (they own kc).

Keep telling yourself that.

Is there stuff going on at Dannos tomorrow? It will be my first time heading over that way to play and I had a few questions I guess. Is MK played regularly there, or is it mostly just Capcom fighters? Haven’t played MvC3 in a while, and I’m ass at SSF4:AE, the scene out here in Cape Girardeau is practically nothing but me and a few friends, but we were really interested in leveling up our game and trying out a competitive environment for the first time. So, I guess I just wanted to confirm WNF is going on, and was curious about what will be played.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just read Voracious’ post above me. I’ll definitely be there tomorrow.

unless i get kidnapped to the east side again lol

Hey St. Louis players what’s up?
I’m a new user on Shoryuken, but have been a fighting game player for quite a few years. I play MvC3 and AE mostly, but I love playing just about every fighting game. I actually wasn’t aware there even was a scene in Missouri, and figured it was all out on the coasts. I was hoping to make the transition from a stream monster/training mode warrior to an actual player. I live in north county (Florissant), but go to college up at Truman State in Kirksville 3 hours away from St. Louis.

It seems like most of the weeklies and get togethers are in West and South County, which is a slight inconvenience for it being so often. Is there anything ever going on up in North County? Or any people from North County that drive to Danno’s in South County or FNF in West that would be interested in car pooling during the breaks from uni?

Also curious if there’s any other St. Louis players up at Truman that would want to play. Thanks!

hell yeah. class of 2007 here.

PM me your # and I’ll put you in touch w/ my friends at Truman.

Hey, I go to Truman, but I know you already :D. Assuming I’m awake tomorrow, I will see you in class.

Good good, I just didn’t want to make sure there wasn’t like 10 Jedah’s or something. I’m thinking Bulleta, Q-Bee, or Sasquatch. I’ve never had a chance to learn a charge character, so maybe BB would be good to help me take the first steps.

witebuddha: I’m gonna try to go to Chicago for Frosty Faustings(Jan 7th) and possibly go to chicago in december. If you guys are interested I have free room&board.

Also Bulleta isnt exactly a charge character, although she is… Shes more like an absurdly execution heavy rushdown character. The missles are more situational than consistently relied on.

Glity, I’ll see what I can schedule…I’ll make no guarantees, as the TDY (aka I in MS then) might happen right at the start of the year. It looks like I need to restructure some of my leave though…I might be able to pull a cat from a hat. Put me down as “interested but needs to schedule with work first”.
