Yeah the patch just installs the game for you automatically, that’s why it’s 772MB. Apparently SNK doesn’t know what a patch is.

so instead of actually patching the netcode itself (like ignition claimed they would), they just patched it so it could install to HD?

They said there were some netcode tweaks, but it’s not where they want it yet. Whether or not you believe that, I don’t know…

I may need a green meshball for my friend’s stick. He ordered a Seimitsu bubbletop that was supposed to be green, along with green clear Seimitsu buttons. I got the top and it looks yellowish green and doesn’t match the buttons at all. It looks atrocious to me. But he’s going to come over and look at it soon, and give me the go ahead.
He actually told me to get him a green meshball to begin with, but I literally logged on the moment they were supposed to relaunch the store, and they were sold out of green, and he had said the bubbletop was his backup choice, so i went with that.
So I’ve got to find him a green meshball if he doesn’t like it and sell off the green bubbletop to try to make back some of his scratch, or he might opt for a purple bubbletop instead (and that should match his other two buttons).
I don’t believe it. I don’t believe a single thing SNK promises, and I don’t believe Ignition anymore either, they are just covering for the fact that SNK doesn’t care about anything but getting paid and putting forth little effort to do so.
I mean, look at the fighters that have dropped/are about to drop. Compare them with everything SNK has put out.
Hard copy games:
Soul Calibur 4 released, had moderately solid netcode, about the same as SF4, but nonetheless, it’s bearable with good connections. Hori releases a branded Fighting Stick for the game.
Street Fighter 4 released a limited edition, with an anime, a collectible figure, an art segment, a soundtrack, and a download code for a costume DLC. They had TWO branded sticks, a branded controller, and now have a limited edition of one of said sticks. They had moderately good netcode. Not the best, but not horrible.
BlazBlue released a limited edition that cost the same as the standard edition, with an instructional DVD, a soundtrack that is two discs long, and an artbook. The game has some of the best netcode to date, rivaling only HDR and maybe VF5. Hori releases a branded Fighting Stick for the game.
Tekken 6 releases a limited edition that packs in a wireless branded joystick made by Hori. Netcode as of yet unknown.
King of Fighters 12…well, they released it on console. Hey, they released it on console, yeah, with crappy netcode that they “patched” to still be crappy, but shouldn’t that be enough? I mean, it’s SNK!
Digital Downloads:
HD Remix: releases, gets their trailers on front page for Xbox Live. Has the best netcode ever seen, and online glitches are fixed eventually.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is set to release with the same netcode as HD Remix. A guide is already on Xbox Live. Glitches as of yet unknown.
Fatal Fury Special…is released on console. The netcode is shoddy, and it’s even possible to completely alter dipswitches to your favor in online play. This goes unfixed. But they don’t have to. I mean, it’s SNK!
Samurai Showdown 2…is released on console. With the same netcode as FFS. But hey, it’s on console right? Isn’t that enough.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves…is released on console. With the worst netcode imaginable. But hey, it’s on console right? And it’s SNK, right?

How much of this is it going to take for people to realize that SNK is a festering bowl of feces and should be treated as such (i.e. flushed down the toilet)?
You know, the most important thing to consider about a game is whether the game itself is good. If a game had shitty netcode and came in a paper bag but was a perfect fighter, I wouldn’t mind.
also note that the ps3 patch has been there all day. I’m pretty sure its not THE patch. We’ll see later on.
I do mind. The nearest seen for me is two hours away. The only players that are willing to learn this game are two hours away. Meaning I have to go online to play. A lot of people in the states are in the same predicament. KOF12 didn’t even do well in Japan; SNK HAD to realize that the only chance they have to make a profit on this game is in the Americas, Europe, and Australia. And if they didn’t realize this, they’re retarded. But honestly, they’re retarded anyway, because unless they’re actually that xenophobic, idealistic, and stupid, they have to realize that all those areas are bigger than Japan, with worse network infrastructures than Japan, and thus needed good netcode to succeed. And they failed to realize that.
Or they actually believed, even after repeated complaints about oh…EVERY GAME THEY’VE PUT NETCODE IN…that the same netcode would be sufficient in those areas with KOF12, which makes them doubly retarded.
So…whens the next aerial rave? Sites down. And someone said a TvC cab at a ‘GW’? Gameworks I’m guessinrg? I reallly dont want to have to play marvel all day with 9 year olds so I’m looking for something to do, thanks

new school stl/east side - i know these ranbats are supposed to level you guys up, but damn…how many more of these do we have to go through before someone other than the kingz make top 3?
either you guys really need to start hooking up more than once a week or something cuz nothing is going to change at this pace. i know its easier said than done, but if you guys are really serious, you would do whatever it takes to get it done. yeah, work, school, family, etc. will get in the way. i know how it is. my girlfriend always FORCING me not to play games, work scheduling me nights of hook ups, all that jazz but i try and manage my time to practice.
all in all, go HARD or stop playing and move on to another game. harsh…yes. deal with it.
Well, derailing even more: KOF has always been on shaky ground in the US, and really needs decent netplay for people to even get strong at the game outside of LA/NYC (FOB territory). Online is where everyone’s favorite dude Emil started, and he’s arguably the strongest player in North America for '98. The guy even plays on keyboard! Here in STL it’s just been me and one other guy playing once or twice a month MAX for like, what, 3 years? When it gets that bad you’re hungry for any comp whatsoever, online or offline. So yeah, SNK screwed the KOF “scene” in NA pretty badly with this one. Things might improve for KOF12, they might not, but basically I don’t see much changing as far as people picking up '98(UM) or even 2k2(UM) – the real meat of the series tbh – thanks to the fuckin terrible rep SNK has right now for their netplay.
Anyway, enough jibberish. Hookup, my place, kof12 and SF4 on PC (looks great) TODAY at 3pm.

It just might. I can’t tell exactly cause I’ve barely played it, but it could be the saturn pad having laggy drivers (the USB interface lags by default apparently…?). I played it on my HRAP EX and it seems fine though. I’m 99% sure the monitor I have doesn’t lag. The only reason I prefer it is because it looks better and I can use cheats to get all the unlocks muahaha.
yeah it’s not the monitor, its things being plugged into usb ports that will always create lag >_<
gonna be mostly on that kof12 tho, unless someone wants a money match in 4 that is…
