Sticks for Joy: Charity Sticks (Pre-order SFJ shirts!)

We should make BUTTHOLE t-shirts too.

@nerrage: There’s no reason to do dual wireless over triple wireless because of power management. 360 and ps3 will use the same battery power source regardless if its in a dual or triple wireless setup and only one board will be drawing power at a time . The peewii will draw its power only from the wiimote.

Yes, T-Shirts!

So, my plan is to do something similar to the Team Tech Talk shirts.

Concept: White T-shirt, with black printing. Single color, to reduce the cost.

We can easily just slap the SFJ logo onto it, but I also wanted to put all of our sponsors on the back. It will likely increase the price of the shirts a good bit, especially considering the sheer amount of sponsors we have, and contacting them all for a B&W logo might be a pain, too. However, having sponsor names would also help advertise

I want to try to set the shirts at $25 a piece, and $30 for 2X and 3X sizes, which will leave a good bit of room for funds. I want to go with American Apparel shirts, because they’re comfy. Heh. But if we could do the kind of split Hane’s Beefy Tee/AA deal we did with the TeamTechTalk shirts without raising price significantly, I’m all for that. Or, if everyone wants Beefy Tees or whatever, I’m all for it.

What I plan to do with the pre-orders is to buy a few more shirts to sell at booths, and/or hand out as promotional items.

This will all work with the normal 4PDT switch you have with Leo mods?

Other matters of business: Cause needed. Really, this could be anything. Any sort of established charity that will appeal to the people who will show up to tournaments. This is important because it really is our selling line. I’ll try contacting Child’s Play again, because it seems to be right up our alley, but last time they didn’t talk much, or really understand us, I suppose. I’ll try again. I mean, is it that hard to say “Yes, you can use our name to benefit us and pay us money!”

Yes, the 4PDT switch will be provided and will get the job done. It even has a middle position so that you can prevent the battery from connecting to either the ps3 or 360.

Awesome. I’ll probably get you to send these to butteroj so that it can be properly mounted in the stick. I’ll send you the shipping money.

just pm me the address you want the stuff shipped to.

Will do. Just need to find it.

Yeah, I appreciate the people who suggested a stick raffled for me, but Nerrage’s points were spot on. It’s come and gone, and would be counter-intuitive at this point. I have more than I need right now, and should be enough to last until I’m able to work again.

With regards to the issue of the time it takes to raise funds, that one is simple: have a constant rotation of sticks that are being raffled at majors, where the raffle money is put into an account to be donated as needed and to cover the organizational costs (traveling to tournaments for raffles, costs of sticks, etc). If there’s around one major a month, someone from SFJ should be there raffling a stick.

I still think the idea of helping out individuals is a good one, though. There’s always someone who needs it, and I think it’d be smart to have some kind of section on the website where people could tell us about their situations, and then have members of “the board” (whoever they are) decide on who to give assistance to. If there’s ever a large crisis, money could still obviously be given to that. Unlike most of the modders who help I have no specific technical specialties, but I may be able to help with this part.

Talking with James and Joe. Won’t making it wireless make it un-useable in tournaments?

If that’s a concern, then it could be dual wireless and have a MC cthulhu wired up instead of a peewii. USB jack for the dual wireless and rj45 jack for the MC.

Okay, talking with Nerrage, one of the problems we’re facing now is that we just don’t have enough time at the moment. One possibility we’re looking into is getting more folks, either full time or as volunteers. So, anyone up for it?

Or ‘dongle’ wireless with the XBee or something similar.

Not sure EVO allows dongles.

EVO does NOT allow dongles. Wireless controllers of any kind are banned.

As for helping out, what is needed? I’d be happy to help, but my time is limited.

Wireless via dongle says okay here: http://shoryuken.com/2011/07/11/evo-reminder-wireless-dualshock-3-controllers-are-banned/

Yaaaaay! I was wrong! Again. Third time today. I’m now questioning the wisdom in some of the decisions I’ve made today. Clearly the number of pain meds I’ve had to take to level out is messing with me.

As long as you aren’t getting drunk, racing forklift trucks, or trying to find some sailors then you should be fine.

What if the sailors find him instead?

Will Duckie be sent to into the Navy?

Then everybody wins.

Except Duckie.
