I’ll be balancing both as Vs. Series games were never really my thing but this is a chance for me to get in on a Vs. Series game right from the very beginning.
ssf4 is a terrible game why would i stick with it???
I’ve tried so hard to find a character that I really like in IV. It’s funny because I love playing 4 characters in 3s. Unless a DLC character comes along that I really dig, I’ll be playing primarily MVC3 and wait for 3s online.
well, I like SSF4 but some shit is just mad annoying. I’ll admit mashing has saved my ass (instant grabs) as well as FADC to make shit safe. But c’mon, mashing as a legit tactic on wakeup FADC safe or hey, you missed that tight link? eat some serious shit like a mashed specials or shitdonkulous damage ultras etc etc
I need a breath of fresh air with some different gameplay mechanics
But MK9 comes out in two months and that game has ultra violence.
Most likely sticking with SSF4.
I wasn’t really hype for this game to begin with, and after playing it for a little last night it just felt kind of “meh” to me. I never enjoyed a Vs. series game more than casually(mashing buttons with friends), so this is no surprise.
If they add an optional no-ultra mode you MIGHT be able to get me to play some Super. Then 3sO will hit and I’ll laugh and laugh.
picking up mvc3 will be fun but will come back to ssf4 when AE hits home
I just got done playing MVC3, wanting to play some SSF4 now.
I’ll play them both but I’m still probably better at Tekken.
Just got Mahvel today and its mad fun. I’ll be playing Marvel a bit more than SF though until SSF4 AE DLC?
I thought SSFIV would be empty tonight, but online is as crowed as usual…
Good.
SSF4 definitely became so unbelievably dull to me. It’s still fun playing it with friends or when I go to a competitive gathering for casuals… but online is just a POS. SSF4 online is just the devil’s handiwork, filled with scrubs who think they’re the shit for mashing through your string or doing HERP DERP ultras. Plus the game is sooooo slooooooooooow. So fucking slow. I don’t think it’s a bad game, it is just such a test of patience to play 85% of the time for me.
I like Marvel… who’s to say how it’ll age but right now I really like it.
But I’ll probably pick up pick SSF4 back up when AE hits consoles.
Let’s step outside of SRK.com land for a second.
Any game that requires the player to press QCF,QCF + PPP in order to win is automatically disqualified as “most friendly fighting game”. Motions that we take for granted in SF are actually REALLY HARD TO DO FOR THE AVERAGE GAMER.
DP > FADC > Metsu is HARD TO DO.
Have people here ever played other fighting games? You can get through Tekken without doing a single fireball motion, let alone a DP, let alone a QCF,QCF. Soul Calibur is the same. Heck, Virtua Fighter’s moves are easier to perform for a casual player.
And, personally, SSF4 is much more interesting to me than the all-offense, all-day style of Marvel. I actually respect a game that provides adequate offensive AND defensive options to the players. Others may only value offense, and that’s fine…for them. Lol @ Taskmaster’s I wanna hit you NAOW guard break. I’ll still support the game by purchasing it, but SF4 is more thought provoking to me. But, this is the Marvel board, so I don’t know what the OP expected to hear in here.
Lol, if you think Marvel is here to save you from annoying BS tactics, you’re California Dreamin’.
Haven’t met a fighting game that was free from some form of BS.
I’ve been so excited for MvC3. Played it for 24 hours straight. But I’m actually kind of disappointed. After just one day, me and my roommates are landing huge combos. It was fun experimenting at first and it was fullfilling pulling off these flashy combos. BUt by the end of the day i just felt empty. It was much too easy to land these hard hitting combos. X23 and Super skrull command grabs?! Rounds began to become extremely cheap I believe I’ve grown sick of this game in a day.
However, I think it might be because I never played much MvC2 and all the SSF4 I play. For instance I still can’t get into the habit of not blocking the crossups in the corner. Everytime someone jumps deep on me I assume it’s a crossup and eat 70% for it.
I also love the way SSF4 plays. I feel like it’s much more about the person behind the controller than the characters. I havnt found the same type of mind game, your wits against mine in MvC3.
If someone would like to explain how the mind game and gameplay evolved in MvC2 as every character’s nuances were discovered I would love to try to understand. I would also like to know what you think MvC3 will evolve into.
Play a competent player who knows what they’re doing and getting in position to land your combos becomes a game unto itself.
Having MvC3 now I would say it’s nowhere near as fucken annoying to play online compared to SSF4. Even if it feels like mashing at least it’s something instead of waiting. Though both games feel rather slow, SSF4 screen is just to god damn big.

SB, your an idoit, if anything I would like a game with no combos so we basically just play the fucken game. Either way your entitled to your drama. Mind game wise, these assist get in the way too much so that is why it’s more spam then mind games.
