ok guys. . . . stop whining lmao. I hear people saying cap is garbage and I hear people saying cap is good. My opinion is, it depends on your skill. I’ve put in about 165 hours into mvc3 so far and I can easily tell you that at least 90 have been with cap lol. I truly believe that cap is just as good as a dormammu or wesker. . . ok maybe not wesker lol but what I’m trying to say is any character in this game can be great. cap has a decent set of tools, his specials are good for punishing and he does decent damage all by himself.
on my team deadpool is my otg assist. Deadpool has baby health lmao. So he’s dead pretty quickly. so I thought to myself, I need to make combos that do good damage without otgs, and I did lol, I made one of the most damaging bnb’s that has been found with cap. I found one of his weaknesses and fixed it. sure there are times when I’m in the corner and I need an otg assist, but then again, I made a combo with a cartwheel in the middle of it so I could get myself out of the corner to deal with that weakness(will post later) and then there was the issue of “opening people up” and The best part about cap is that you don’t need to open people up, people will open themselves up. whenever people face cap, they have an urge to rush him and keep constant pressure because he is considered “low tier”. the thing is, this is what you want. they will do unsafe things and you will punish. period. then sooner or later people will start to respect your cap, and when that happens, that’s when you start to throw the shield. And as you keep throwing the shield and they realize they can’t press buttons anymore unless they wanna get hit confirmed, they start to block. now look at that…in my opinion if I can get my opponent to block in fear, they seem pretty “opened up” to me. Now answer this question. What “low tier” character makes an opponent scared to pressure them, scared to press buttons, and fearful of their damage output? None.
so I guess what I’m saying is this…think less about what’s wrong with cap and more about what’s good with him. And if you come across a weakness…FIX IT! and stop whining. Nobody is low tier until you say they are.
I like using Cap too, but you’re seriously delusional if you think he’s “just as good” as everyone else. There are low tier characters, and while they may not be an instant lose, they’re still there, and there will always be low tier characters.
Like you said though, if you work hard enough, you can try to overcome their shortcomings.
But at the end of the day, having more shortcomings that other characters (vs some who have none!), means you’re a low tier character.
the cap is definitely not top tier and can’t compete with the likes of wesker and dormammu for a team spot. but he is far from being the worst character in the game as many people proclaim him to be. i would argue just as good as spencer (using these characters since they were already mentioned).
what does spencer do? fish for random grappling hooks into hit confirm? how does that any better than cap fishing for random shield slashes into hit confirm?
any hit confirm that cap gets, he can xfactor (lvl1 or 2 or 3) into a meterless 100% dmg j. h shield slash loop.
I’m not trying to shit all over the Captain. He’s my best character and pretty much the one I’ve been working on the most. He’s not trash, but let’s be real. He’s not amazing in this game either. He’s a ton of fun, but there’s no reason to be disillusioned about what he can or can’t do. Can he win? Yes. Can he win easily? Not really. That’s why he’s lower tier than other characters. Not because he’s inherently a “bad” character. He’s solid, not broken.
from what I’ve read, the captain is pretty good, if your opponents foolish. Anyone that knows what theyre doing knows how to counter the cap (pushblock shield, throw projectile, repeat) OR (wait)
With that being said, I love the captains play style. and I especially love winning with the cap. What I hate is going up against characters like dante and, pretty much anyone with a teleport
still, not giving up hope, thats not the american way
