Personally, after giving all of them a good listen, I’m much less than impressed. Most of the themes adapted from the old games are just really generic House/DnB/Electronic remix of the character’s most recent versus game theme. Most are mediocre at best. Many are far worse than their old renditions. Hulk’s is horrendous, and Chun-Li’s is beyond annoying.
In general, the themes that aren’t originated from versus fighters (ex. Arthur, Wesker, Trish, Dante, etc.) fared much better, but in general the sound team seems not to have attempted to improve on any of the themes so much as just homogenize them. Speed up the tempo, drop much of the memorable feel out the song, use ill-fitting synths and instruments for the rendition, and add a generic House/DnB/Electric Rock beat and voila, MvC3 remix. And they didn’t really put much thought into which tracks to use for the return characters, just remixed the latest versus theme available.
The new themes for newcoming Marvel characters are the better ones out of them all, and are generally decent themes, but not stellar at any rate.
I thought Doom’s was ok at first, but after getting a chance to listen to it well, man did they butcher it. None of them is butchered as badly as Hulk’s though.
Here’s hoping for an integrated throwback/custom soundtrack option.
As a kid? It STILL leaves me energized. If he’s revealed with that theme in full swing I’m gonna need a new pair of pants! Especially if it means I win my bet. :devil:
This is EXACTLY how I feel about the themes. WAY TOO MUCH electronic shit in too many of them. There’s very little variety. I don’t know the different genres/terms well enough to express it clearly, but alot of the music sounds like its the same fucking style.
You guys know what series does remixed and original themes correctly? SMASH BROTHERS. Say what you want about whether it’s a legit fighter or not, but all the smash games have fucking awesome music comprised of old classics and remixes. Everything from 8-bit Nintendo beeps (lol) to orchestration. For example I MUCH prefer Wesker’s original theme: [media=youtube]A2DIIvgWzas[/media] compared to the trash new remix they made. The original one sounds so epic.

Seriously though I know a lot of fighters-players that dislike techno/rave/trance/DnB (or it being in a fighter), and the opposite. This happens to like every fighter now; X amount of players bash themes, X amount love them, BAM theme wars. Same with VAs.
It’s one of the only genres that does shit like this now for some reason. =/
So, now while there isn’t ONE main character in this game (to our knowledge), which theme that we’ve heard so far do you think sounds like more of a Main Character Theme? Like, for example, as divided as it is over love/hate, Ryu’s The Road theme in SFA3 sounded like a main character theme. Just listening to the theme and not putting characters with it, which sounds the most…main character-y? Personally, I think it’s Dante’s, which I’ve grown to like more and more.
Does anyone have a clean rip of the Doom theme? the one I downloaded has a beep in it (like they hovered over a different character), and it makes it useless for my purposes.
A direct grab from the flash file would be the best thing, but I can use most anything, as long as it has the full music.
Edit: Oh son of a bitch, it’s that way on the site, too. Damn. Well, maybe it can be salvaged.
I had a feeling when I was going to click on Deadpool’s that it was going to be terrible. I never recalled hearing it before and in that video it didn’t catch me at all. It sounds like whoever decided his theme, was more concerned about it sounding “cool and edgy for the kids!” Yuck!
