Starcraft II!

Just reserved my copy at Gamestop. Hope to see you guys on b.net ! :woot:

We should have an SRK tourney when the game drops!

I think they’ll do the others like the brood war expansion and frozen throne expansion happened. Starcraft was in march, brood war was in november of 98. Warcraft III was in July of 2002, Frozen throne was in july of 2003. I don’t think them going 18 months would be a good idea. A year, max. I would think that the first expansion won’t drop for a year, and the second will drop like 8-12 months after that. Blizzard is expecting Wings of Liberty to have some serious legs, so I couldn’t see them dropping part 2 in 6 months, but I could be wrong.

Well to be honest, Activision is all about the cash…but as mentioned, Blizzard has been QUALITY as long as I can remember. Te translation is a great game, but a high sticker cost…see three full priced expansions for example.

But as Ronin mentioned - you can’t blame them for the anti-piracy issue. HOW THE FUCK EVER, their method still pisses me the fuck off. Make me sign onto the internet with my copy once or something to activate it for play…but the last thing I want to do is induce lag in a LAN environment because everyone’s data is being sent out to battle.net, then coming back, when you have a LAN party.

I wrote a quick newbie SC2 tips post for my blog, and an hour after posting my boss asked me to write one for work. So, check it out and give it a tweet/thumbs-up/“Like” whatever, and maybe I’ll get to write more gaming stuff.

How To Dominate StarCraft II - PCWorld

(For those of you who read the Tech Talk forum, I’m the guy who gave SRK a shoutout in a piece that was picked up by the Washington Post, btw.)

I like the article! The only thing I would’ve added would be a quick run down of how armor and biased attacks work. Explaining that bio/armored changes the way damage is received and a few examples would help new players know what to look for. Understanding that marauder > roach because roach is armored and marauders get bonus dmg to armored units is a helpful example.

good article pat

Don’t go to 4chan they’re posting extreme SC2 campaign story spoilers. FML

So I’m not going to be around my actual PC when SC2 is out, I will have access to a PC that I can use to play, I’m just not sure how will this thing take it since it’s quite old. Here are the specs(I know they meet the minimum system requirements), just to get an idea on what kind of settings I might be able to get out of it until I get back:

Pentium IV 3.4ghz
2GB of RAM
Windows XP SP3
Nvidia GeForce 7800GTX 256mb

Hopefully these aren’t too bad. I know the main game might work out okay, but I’ve seen parts of the game that look like real-time cinematics and those look intense, not sure if using only one core is gonna do it.

That was a really well written article for beginners. Really like the fact that you linked to Day9 and the youtube casters, as that’s probably the easiest way to learn. Props.

Yikes. Thats gonna be iffy if you can run sc2 or not. Maybe with everything on low. My friend has a similar build but with a dual core and 4gb of ram and he has to put everything on low for the game to run smoothly.

So SC2 is the first game I preordered in my life. I preordered from gamestop. Anyway does anyone know if I’ll get the game on the same day?

I want to play Starcraft II but I’m not sure if my Macbook would run it. I should check my specs.

O think they may be doing a midnight release. Call and ask.

One more day…

Wow I’m actually intrigued to try the campaign now, didn’t think I’d say that.

blizzard has always made solid single player games to go along with the awesome multiplayer. good writing, plot, voice acting, cut scenes with high production value (for the time), and well designed missions.

fuck yeah i cant wait sc2 baby ruin my life!

Today couldn’t be better. Just finished all my projects so I’m about to head over to my friend’s to watch Day9’s stream then pick up sc2 at midnight.

Anyone down for some opening night matches? I have a list of hilarious 2 v 2 cheese strats that I’ve accumulated through the beta which should get some great reactions. I’m also down for legit serious-style 1 v 1s with any SRKer.
