Kind of, or completely walling off with a temporary pylon, or getting a sentry out as fast as possible (which most P already do vs Z). The zealot nerf is going to hurt but I think it just means zerg will have a fighting chance at their early expo, whereas now its basically impossible.
I’ve liked the opening I saw some Korean P do versus Z, which is to get a gateway then a forge, then build your second gateway + pylon at the bottom of your ramp (in your natural) and then put a cannon on the end there. You create a long wall that means zerglings can’t get into your base without dealing with a cannon, you have the option for the +1 attack upgrade early, and you even secure an easy early expansion versus zerg. I may have to start incorporating that build so long as they arent going mutas
This is exactly the kind of build that gives me the most trouble at the moment ZvP… unless they 2 gate all in, where I can just counter with roaches and win easy. If I only see one gateway with no saved chrono, I will always FE asap, and usually end up with a nice advantage.
Also, you can’t just stick with one build on all maps. If a protoss makes 2 gates on steppes of war, the Zerg MUST make a roaches to hold it off without losing a ton. I don’t see why a protoss would ever not 2 gate on that map, but it happens. Even if you want to just tech up, make the 2 gates and feint pressure. Zerg cannot cannot risk droning up vs 2 gates.
Just so you guys know/are wary, there is currently a hack/exploit right now that allows Protoss to warp in Immortals from Warpgates (no Robotics Facility required). There is a thread about it on TL below. This has occured in ladder games, so be careful.
And theres also map hacks, drop hacks, etc. Nothing new in online gaming
but warped in immortals are bad ass, PATCH THIS BACK IN BLIZZARD (fyi it was possible in alpha then was changed later)
Edit: This saturday Im thinking another night of practice matches, I’m actually thinking we should do some show matches, maybe 4-5 matches
So if you’re interested in playing in a showmatch, post up. Trying to get some interesting, closely matched players to play some matches together.
Afterwards, or maybe just instead of, we can just do practice matches. I know JD was needing some help with PvZ and Im sure theres others out there that still need help too with matchups or specific strats (Like quick battlecruiser, DAMN YOU)
I want to get the rest of the VODs done but I’ve been sick a bit this week, I can at least put up the replay pack
Yeah that zealot nerf worries me about the effectiveness of the 5 Roach Rush that is quite popular now. With the possible wall in with a cannon behind its going to be so annoying trying to bust it down, and in most cases will result in a back off and teching to mutas. I just started 1v1ing so its my go to build since I like the aggressiveness of it while not being an all in.
also I know blizz is famous for their every couple of months banstorm but for SC2 and the amount of resources they supposedly have they should be banning weekly. Then again I have yet to play against a hacker, or at least not that I know of
I’d like to play some practice matches if possible. The SC gods know I’m not that good so I’d like to be punished with a good ass whooping by fellow SRKers.
Starcraft is pretty frustrating. Just a few moments of not paying attention, and you lose dropships filled with valuable units. Or you miss out on macro’ing, and your resource count gets high. Or you don’t manage to micro in time, and you get hit by bling/storms/etc. For all of SC2’s focus on making macro easier with building hotkeys and grouping and such, I still feel pretty overwhelmed by the sheer number of things that require one’s attention. Because even little things can make you lose a game.
I mean, even this amazing Multitasking Trainer only helps me so much. I guess I just need to settle in, play like 500 more games, watch more Day[9] vids, and read more Team Liquid. sigh
so i heard about this korean 4 gate thing, and i’m pretty sure i did the build wrong, but i managed to win with it today lol! the other guy was teching to stalkers but there was just too many goddamn zealots in his base. i know you are supposed to transfer probes back to minerals after 50 gas is mined but after i saw so many stalkers i switched 3 back to gas and started warping in some stalkers as well to prevent the kiting and then the opponent quitted in tears. his name was KoreanBomB so its ironic he didn’t korean 4 gate me.
yes i agree sc2 is very stressful i can only play like 6-8 games at a time before i need a break, even casual matches with friends. this shit tests your mental fortitude a lot which is why i like it. and yeah i feel like every single mistake can and will cost you the game. even if you do something harmless like not pressing your advantage, you can lose the game. like today, i beat back this protoss army, then figured i’d expand and build up my army. well i got lazy, didn’t scout, and even though i discovered and destroyed his hidden expo, he proceeded to roflstomp my entire army with his 6 collosus. watching the replay, if i had just kept up the attack after he retreated his decimated army i should have won.
so i applied that lesson in a later game. this guy almost pwned me with hydras and i BARELY held off his attack. he was in my mineral line. he made the same mistake of not pushing his advantage and instead expanded and built up his army, so i expoed as well and teched to collosus, while he foolishly stuck with hydra. i thought for sure i was dead, but he gave me way too long to recover so i won. cause collosus hard counter hydras all day. BUT on the flip side, if you press your advantage too hard and overcommit, you could lose your entire army and lose as well. i guess those macro decisions only come with shitloads of experience which takes 500+ games like you said.
it really is like a modern day chess game in real time. fucking intense.
but damn that multi tasking trainer looks SICK. that’s just what i need.
gdlk can’t wait to see boxer that guy is a champ, i have showed that legendary scv rush video to everyone i know
I play this some with one of my friends. I am not much of an RTS player and am much better at fighting games, FPS and shooting games. I play terran against my friend who plays zerg and get owned pretty regularly. Oh well, it’s still fun to play. I have been playing through the challenges to help me get better at the game, but I doubt I will ever have good enough micro to ever be really great at this game.
