StarCraft II Matchmaking Thread

Its really cool seeing Flash play SC2 at this level… What’s not cool is seeing Flash lose!

That last game was hilarious, Flash just straight up murked him in less than 5 minutes.

Hearts of the Swarm needs to come out fast and be on par with the offerings from League of Legends which is full. Its simply amazing how much LoL has to offer and how scant Blizzard has been with the SC2 series.

Release date…3/12/13.

I’ve abandoned this game due to no LAN support and having spotty/no internet on my main PC. Fuck this expansion.

Fuck the expansion, because you’re living third world internet status?

Yes.

A platform I can respect

I was trying to learn and get into starcraft2 like a year or so ago, i started watching some high level matches and it got me interested enough to give it a shot… in the end though i just don’t have the multi-tasking skills to pull of this game and quickly become overwhelmed whenever i’m playing it. I will be picking up HoTS to mess around with, but whenever i try to take SC2 seriously things just go badly haha. So i will just need to resign myself to being sub ass-tier and have some fun.

That’s where I am. I get ladder anxiety, for no fucking reason. Mostly I feel like I can’t ladder unless I’m warmed up, and I can’t warm up unless I can focus 100% on the game, and I can’t focus 100% on the game because my Son/Wife/Etc. So I’m resigned to watching pro matches, playing casual games with friends, and not actually laddering.

At least theres a non laddering option for matchmaking in hots, should be good. Plus we can get in some games together.

it hit a breaking point for me after my surgery, they had me on a high dose of steroids that just drove that anxiety through the freaking roof. but a lot of the fun little game mods are enjoyable as hell and pro matches are really captivating.

Well, I got into the HOTS beta a while back and got to messing around with it a bit. Right off the bat I’ll tell you that it is a much more enjoyable experience. For one thing, I can play “ladder” un-ranked games which eliminates ladder anxiety. If you want to practice a build, its simple. There is clan support! Now, if they add random tournaments like the did in WCIII then it would be superb.

What I don’t like about the game is the delay between WoL and HOTS. Seriously, an expansion should NOT take this long to come out because all the enthusiasm simply isn’t there. I’m way more interested in playing the single player campaign and the multiplayer is whatever for now.

I’ve always been more interested in the SP campaign than MP…more so now that my friends no longer play and no LAN support.

I will get this but being a random player its going to take a while to lvl up my game with all 3 races also I will need to finish the CPA exam before I actually buy the game which could be until summer :open_mouth:

in sc1 there was no smart casting so pulling off lockdown was pretty fucking difficult. ditto all those other non-microable spells. the other problem is that units die too fast in this game, so that you dont really have time to micro. basically most games these days are both sides turtling up for 2-3 base push, and then the entire game decided by one giant engagement of ball vs ball, where the loser cannot possibly recover. i stopped watching most tournaments as a result because it was just zzzzzzzz every game played out the same.

Anybody else in HOTS beta, I started an SRK clan. Post your tag here and I’ll send you an invite.

I really like Mothership core, helps with early scouting for sure. And recall makes you able to be so much more aggressive. Tempest is a lot of fun too, though it doesn’t seem to damage enough, I have managed to park them in spots where I can harass mineral lines and only flying units can hit me against zerg.

Funny enough, most people think Tempests would just add to a death ball, and be a non-micro unit, but I find that micro utilizes so much of their potential. Their shots are pretty slow, and 2 shots kill a worker/marine/etc. If you don’t micro them, or if you a-click your whole fleet, you overkill single units way too much. But grouping 2 and spreading the shots maximizes your damage. It will really separate the standard from the pro protoss. It really is apparent because of the slow fire rate and high damage slow projectile. Unlike siege tanks with smart fire, Tempests don’t have instant shots and so need to be handled properly.

Thousands of years ago the Mayans plotted a calendar that spanned countless generations to come. A calendar which predicted that one day the world would end. Scholars of today claim that day is to be the 21st of December, 2012.

Recent studies and research have brought to light a startling new understanding of the Mayan calendar. It is not the end of the world that is upon us within months, but the end of Wings of Liberty.

Brought to you by the team behind the Rumble in the Bronze events of the past two years, and hosted by Gameheart, “The End of Liberty” is a charity fundraiser event raising money for the Child’s Play charity through a collection of exciting show matches, custom games, and general Starcraft 2 shenanigans. The aim of this event is to provide the community with some entertainment during the holiday season, and to promote the wonderful work that the Child’s Play charity does, especially around this time of year. Last year our event raised over $18,000, and with your help, we can top that this year.

Casting the event will be Evil Genusis’ Geoff ‘iNcontrol’ Robinson and Australian Shawn ‘Seguer’ Murphy. The duo will be accompanied by a cohort of other well known Starcraft 2 players, including, but not limited to:

mTw.Dimaga
iSAxslav
Liquid’TLO

And, as always, there will be a selection of more… ‘casual’ players joining the pros for some fun and games!

The End of Liberty takes place on the 16th of December between 4PM and 10PM EST with a short pre-show beforehand.

So with the end of the world looming, and the end of Wings of Liberty just a handful of months away, why not spend some of the precious few hours left with your fellow gamers, and help out some children who could use some fun in their lives during this time of the year?

For information about Child’s Play you can visit their website or watch this video for some behind-the-scenes information.

You can find further information over the coming weeks up til the event at our website or twitter, and this thread will be updated as additional information is released.

I’m already burned out on the HOTS beta, and to be honest not really looking forward to playing HOTS when it comes out even for the SP. Blizzard really did a wack job when it came to scheduling the release of these games… I’m not sure if I’m going to support them this time… Why should I?

I think HOTS is a nice breath of fresh air. I feel like they have minimal fine tuning to do; I think tempest need a small aoe on its ground attack, perhaps as an upgrade. I think DTs need access to Blink when upgraded for stalkers. I think Terran need something new to complement the game, as Widow Mines and Hellbats aren’t quite enough to make anything interesting. I think Zerg is in an interesting spot with the new units and abilities, but they may be lacking something I’m not seeing.

I think with that, and some interface changes, hots is going to be awesome. I still think it is, even now.
