Do you have any personal experiences with any of the CD-Key selling sites? I was debating doing that but I wasn’t sure which ones are reliable if any
Nah I have no experience sadly, I’d search TeamLiquid.net and see what you can find out; thats what I did and how I found OffGamers.com to even recommend to you
Thanks, :lovin:
I was debating buying this a few nights ago, and then someone told me “I don’t think you’ll be very good at that sort of game”. It’s onnnnn.
Theres quite a learning curve, probably a bit more than SF I think because you have to grasp the concept of stuff not always on screen. APM really matters when the games start getting going, it becomes a more limiting resource than Minerals or Gas sometimes, whereas in SF your APM isn’t really important, it’s more precise timings that make or break your game.
All in all it’s really stressful. Make sure to lurk in channel SRK and add some of us actives still. Even though I haven’t played for weeks, you can hop in and observe some games with some of us playing and get a feel for it.
Definitely check out day9tv.blip.tv as well if you’re just getting started, looking for newbie tuesdays (#121 is one I recommend a lot to players who are just getting a grasp on the mechanics, http://blip.tv/day9tv/day-9-daily-121-plugging-leaks-in-silver-level-play-3670919) and watch some of the recent Dreamhack tournament to see pro level play. Then pay for GSL and watch with the rest of us in awe.
Just got my key, OffGamers is legit as fuck.
Good to know in case I need to pick up some cdkeys in the future, like a second SC2 account so I can offrace ladder (psh like I ladder in the first place)
Are you completely new to RTS games?
I played a VERY small amount of SC1 on PC, and a really tiny bit of SC1 on N64 (lol).
And uhh…Halo Wars.
So yeah, I’m starting completely new, new game, new genre, I’m certain I’m going to get bodied really badly for a while.
Yeah probably a good 4 weeks to be able to keep up remotely with a few of us who have been playing since Beta (and I’m still too afraid to ladder and stuck at plat)
Me and Iren are jumping in now, come play with us Papa
Season 3 is on the horizon. A pity I really didn’t play much in season 2 as compared to season 1.
Which would you consider more stressful to play: FPS games such as BFBC or SC?
Sorry I wasn’t on, I went shopping for open house stuff and ended up hanging out with a few people. I’ll be playing a ton tomorrow though so if you find some time I’m down to get stomped.
What’s your Name.number?
jaguar.523
haven’t played anyone from this thread yet.
PapaRhino.603
so i havent played in a month and hopped on and managed to barely win a game against roach ling i am so happy. does anyone have a link to a youtube video on the right way to force field speedlings?
Depends on your unit composition. Stalker heavy = ring around your own units, zealot heavy = right behind them to pin them against you, and keep them from surrounding
So, the main problem I’m noticing with my play is that I take too long to build structures and I find myself with 1.3k~ of unused money, a shit-load of drones, a few queens, 12~ roaches, a bunch of speedlings and a few spinecrawlers around entrances, my question is, how do I know when I have enough drones to start building structures? I notice that the people I’m playing against are throwing up buildings at like the one minute mark or less and I have been doing mine a minute after them, should I be building as soon as I possibly can or?
Really you should learn a build order (just 1 to start) and refine it. You’re zerg (god help you! They’re the hardest race to learn to start off I think) so your safest bet is probably 14 pool into Hatchery after you get your first 4 lings out. I think its like 14 pool 13 extractor, 3 guys on gas as soon as its done, 4 lings and start speed as soon as you have the gas. This is the “safe” zerg opening.
Iren should have a better handle on zerg builds, along with some of the really good guys here
If you’re ballsy you can do 14 hatch first, or a 6 pool all in if you’re feeling suicidal
Starcraft is way more stressful than a FPS, and that’s having played both at a fairly high level.
Maybe it’s just because I’m really new to RTS in general and it’s hard to grasp but I’ve played multiple FPS games at high levels and SC2 seems WAY more stressful than say a really close game of MLG H2 Ball on Midship.
