1. Watch the Original Trilogy (Ep.4 - Ep.6)

  2. They’re the remnants of the Galactic Empire

  3. The New Republic still exist, it just runs the political sides of things, while " The Resistance" deals with what is left of the Galactic Empire (aka The First Order)

4.Unfortunately I can’t answer that question for you.

Space is pretty fucking huge, I imagine there were still a shit ton of Empire ships and troops all over the place. The rebels just took out their main base/leaders in Jedi. Can’t imagine it would be hard for them to regroup and get hella strong again quickly, especially with help from Sugar Daddy Snoke.

Spoiler

I really don’t think she is Luke’s daughter. Why would Luke abandon his own daughter on Jakku? Again, he trained his nephew and not his own daughter? That makes zero sense. She was probably another force sensitive child whom Luke found, or was brought to him. He was training a whole new batch of Jedi. Ren lost his shit, slaughtered all of them and ran away. He probably mind wiped Rey to make sure that Ren didn’t pick up on her force powers. Also, I still believe that Finn will become a Jedi. We need Mace 2.0

No need for spoilers anymore.

If Finn is Mace 2.0, I want Mace from the Clone Wars:

Gendy Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars was some damn good shit.

Best comparison for the New Republic/Resistance/First Order would be to look at similar proxy conflicts in the past like the 1980’s Afghan War, and even the Vietnam War where two sides are at peace (New Republic, First Order) but one (New Republic) is secretly funding, assisting a group (Resistance) fighting the other (First Order).

If that second to last part is true…

Not quite…

not anymore

Not much, althought they’re stealing a lot.

Star Wars: Aftermath. You find out that the Emperor sent out scouts into unknown regions of space around the time of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, because he sensed a source of Dark Power strong enough to get his attention, and he was supposedly feeding off it to get his own power.

New Republic is the league of planets that wasn’t Empire during the OT, but didn’t run off and join the Rebels either. They got wiped out by Starkiller base in The Force Awakens. They didn’t take the Knights of Ren or the remnants of the Empire serious, so Leia kept the Rebellion going.

The afforementioned scouts that Palpatine sent out established bases and fed info back to the Emperor. When he died, he had a sect in the Empire of people who believed the Dark Side was the only way the Empire could win. Most of the Empire scattered and ran, the Knights of Ren fled to Unknown Space that Palpatine had been looking into while he was still alive. Years later, the Knights of Ren emerge from Unknown Space, with Snoke as their Supreme Leader, and they have a Starkiller Base and they’re using kidnapped children as Stormtroopers. That’s about all we know, now.

Family relations fucks things up. Finn could be the son of Lando and Mace Windu’s daughter, for all we know.

Spoiler

I personally still think Rey will end up being Ben’s sister, it just makes sense

  1. How come?

2.Stop bro your making depress…

don’t forget

Yea as legit as Bush winning Florida and Putin staying n charge. B)

Oh shit Ben/Ken look like Snape during his HS years lol

lol no

You would have to explain why you use spoilers still, then you would have to explain why Han or Leia haven’t said shit, nor anybody else (Chewie would have ruined it for sure). Then you have to explain why Leia and Han dumped her on in a shithole to eek out her existence. Too much work required to explain her being Han’s daughter.

Is she related to Ben? Possibly. Unless she is Palpatine’s descendant (unlikely…currently the longest shot, and yet 3rd best odds) or Obi Wan’s (more likely, and probably tied with the Luke’s kid theory, if not #1 if you really think about it), she isn’t related to him. My money is on her being a Kenobi.

I’m still curious if it’s possible to even redeem Kylo at this point, without him bleeding to death as it happens, Vader style.

Somebody is going to the dark side and coming back, that I assure you.

I’ve dubbed him Darth Puffy Face Jon Snow…

I think you answered your own question…if not, ummmm yeah, New Republic got rekt, they got like half their fleet left and no government, at best. Probably should have listened to Leia.

Snoke isn’t from the Empire. He likely formed them from some scattered Imperial remnants, but he’s not directly related to them. He’s basically taken from the whole “mysterious dark power from the outer rim” plot thread from the KOTOR games.

I sincerely hope Kylo bleeds out his mom in the next movie. One, so I won’t have to look at that godawful plastic surgery face (the cgi budget should have been spent on her) and two, it would be the push Luke needs to step out of the shadows and wreck some shit.

@d3v
I’ll spoiler since this deals with the Aftermath book that came out recently:

Spoiler

He’s eluded to in the Star Wars Aftermath book (if you give even the slightest shit about the EU or the now current universe, read this book…it came out a few months ago and is 100% canon and explains what happened between ROTJ and TFA). As I’ve mentioned before, Palpatine felt a dark power in uncharted parts of space (similar to how Luke felt light power and went off to the first Jedi temple). Palpatine sent out scouts, and dedicated a part of the empire to locating the dark power, and also used it to power himself. He felt as though it empowered him (hence why there are theories that it’s Darth Plagueis, and he survived his assassination). When he died, the part of the empire he set aside to deal with that shit, went off in search of what Palpatine was looking for, and they came back as the Knights of Ren, with a fucking army and Starkiller Base and Snoke in command. They don’t explain it well in the movie, but nobody really knows who the Knights of Ren are yet, they literally just came back from the outer regions.

I figure she will survive until the end, MAYBE even the trilogy. I think the OT and the whatever you call this trilogy, fail if you let her die…it’s too much of a soft reboot if she dies and Luke dies, and it’s a 100% guarantee that Luke is going to die. She loses the most from the OG deaths. She lost her husband and lover Han Solo, and next will be her brother and only Jedi Master and legendary hero Luke Skywalker. People will be expecting a happier ending next movie, and Luke dying will deprive them of that, and create unrivaled hunger for the final chapter. Plus, the death of Luke in the second movie creates that bit of doubt and wonder about how the last movie turns out. And it makes Rey and Co’s victory all that much more sweeter.

For what it’s worth, I still dunno if Finn is a Jedi, I bet they tease the fuck out of that though. I want him to be, since it explains those weird flashes he gets when the slaughter at the start is going on, why he ignores his inbred kill training, and why Kylo noticed him at the beginning. And because it would be good for him to get a rematch with Kylo, with actual training on his side.

Ok, so heres a theory. Not so much a theory as an observation.

In the clone wars series, a big subplot was the whole capturing force sensitive children thing.

In Star Wars Rebels, they’ve decided to revisit this plot in recent episodes, where they’re back to trying to save kids being abducted into the empire.

I think its likely that the reason they keep exploring these plots, is that it will be crucial to Reys backstory, as in she was somebody saved from abduction, or one who was NOT saved from abduction perhaps. Whatever it is, it will deal with her being a “known” child of the force who went into hiding for one reason or another.

Well she didn’t go into hiding herself.

She was placed and left on Jakku as a kid.

Also she’s too young to have been one of the children being abducting around the time of SW Rebels. TFA takes place 30 years after the destruction of the second death star and Rebel takes place between episodes III and IV

There’s nothing to suggest The First Order continued abducting force sensitive children as that would have definitely been something people noticed and were talking about. Rey reacting to Luke’s lightsaber tells us they have a connection, whether that be by blood, from suppressed (read: mind wiped) memories of experiences with Luke or both.

They’ve already revealed that Kylo killed all of Luke’s students, and Kylo seemed to know who she was when one of his men mentioned her. She might be the only one Luke could save.

I’m not sure if I said this before here or just in my head, but I don’t think that has anything to do with the force. Phasma, while basically defending herself from blame, mentions this is his first offense and he was scheduled for a rehabilitation program before escaping. They obviously have a system set up for this and aren’t dumb founded as if it were the first time to ever happen. It’s just that 99% of the time there isn’t a rebel pilot captured on board to help escape. Maybe you only get to become a pilot when you’ve done enough fucked up shit to prove you’ll never have second thoughts and might be an escape risk.
