Difference is Luke has a terrible mental block where he lacks faith in himself and thus he actually sucks at force abilities for the longest time. Rey was much more opened minded to the whole thing and probability have Force ghost Obi Wan whispering to Rey her whole life.
99.99% of a padawan’s Training in the old republic/clone wars era wasn’t how to use force powers, but keeping your own head cool and calm.
You see (In Ep 2) Padawans as little as 3 years old mastering skills that 18 year old Luke struggles with.
The tikes has no reason to doubt themselves and been receiving instructions since infancy, hence they know all the basics of the force.
Obi Wan in the books both in Legends and Canon actually sucks in higher force abilities, but he’s the first Jedi that fell a Sith Lord in a thousand years, and what eh can do he has down solid. Obi Wan became a master as he keeps a cool and calm mind despite whats going on and out does more capable Jedi and Sith on a regular basis because of that. Also Obi Wan works hard to be where he is at, Obi Wan is the Rock Lee of the Jedi Order, and got far as he does with hardwork instead of natural talent.
That is how Rey is such a bad ass in the force. The force is part Mind over matter, part open mindedness, part self control. Jedi’s remain cool and calm, and Sith’s know how to channel their rage and anger.
And the True Jedi old ancient times aren’t light side users, they used both sides equally and must remain in balance. Its only when you got Zelots who start to hard focus on the light side, you got others who rebel, go the other extreme and became the runners up to whats later the Sith.
That still doesnt explain how she can (accidentally) mind fuck a guy who spent most of his entire life mind fucking people as well as holding blaster bolts in mid air with one hand. At that point it ain’t a calm mind and natural talent. Its still bullshit writing.
Darth vader wasn’t able to tap into princess leia’s brain literally because princess leia was force sensitive. All you basically have to do is say “no”. It’s one of the earliest lines in the stsr wars universe.
All jj abrams said she learned how to do the jedi mind trick after kylo ren tapped into her brain which awoken her force powers. She never actually attempted it on kylo but on a lowly storm trooper
Im not defending abrams reason for letting rey do jedi mind tricks or whatever here. But that’s literally the reason she was able to block kylo ren out of her brain
Which sucks because I defended the shit out of Rey in the first movie. Given a lot of the things that happen in TFA it seems she was meant to have a really crazy story to match her force ability ( kind of a “what if Anakin never went dark but was also a girl”).
But everything changed when the Rian nation attacked.

After the Rianization, do we just discard the new Disney Star Wars universe and go back to the old expanded universe novels? Cuz those at least made sense to me. We know exactly what i means. The force made Anakin so he would kill most of the force users in the Galaxy. After centuries of shenanigans, the force got tired of being manipulated to settle political grievances.
The Jedi had slaughtered the Sith before. This made Jedi the most numerous force users ( albeit rare overall). So the Jedi needed a cull. Then you kill the last of the Sith and call it a day.
