Lol yeah, i am sure that the mouse wasn’t expecting to make a modicum amount of money from the china market.
They totally don’t care.
well we havent seen shit about Han Solo outside of the GotG ripoff poster, so thats not good. We wont hear ANYTHING about Episode IX till next years comic con I imagine. I fully expect Rian to be the piece of meat sent out to be sacrificed to the altar of bad film making and he’ll go back to his little indie projects like Looper where he can piss people off less but still be a giant douche. Theres definitely going to be another CG Star Wars cartoon on XD Im sure of it. Rebels has been pretty solid and well received despite the movies fucking up. As for the movie series man, that all depends on IX. Worst case scenario IX does awful or breaks even and they bin the FILM series for awhile with Kathleen Kennedy saying some dumb shit like “I guess the Star Wars fans didnt want a female Jedi taking the lead.”. I still think theyll make games for it, but I’m not sure if EA will be along for the ride on that one given the reception of EAfront 2. They may just reboot the whole universe and take bits and pieces of things like they from both the regular movies and the EU and cobble something together out of it. I know TFA was pretty much their attempt at that but still, 4 billion dollars. You KNOW they want their moneys worth out of that. The trilogy after this one will probably be their last chance to get people to care but in what form it comes in Im not sure.
But I think IX is going to do “Just OK” when it releases. People are so apathetic because of how fucked up TLJ is storywise that I just dont know where you go that really gets people super excited.
Judging how every Star Wars film has done there, as pointed out MULTIPLE TIMES, I really doubt Disney cares about how much money Star Wars makes in a region that doesn’t care about Star Wars.
It’s about a 90 million dollar loss from TFA (Apprx 38 million gross from TLJ). Yeah, it’s a loss, but on a property that has already grossed 1.2, does say something. However historically, China hasn’t really made a large contribution to the world wide gross.
Until that first trailer comes out.
China is the only reason the Warcraft Movie was ever successful, where it bombed in North America, Europe and the rest of Asia.
China (and some dumb hardcore fans) is the only Reason Michael Bay continues to rape the Transformers.
Yet with out China The Last Jedi is the 10th highest grossing film of all time. The House of Mouse isn’t sweating it.
Other than a few Producers in Hollywood, no one cares what China finds in American Cinema.
If you want to talk about reaching the most people, nothing out of Hollywood does so, India’s Bollywood reaches a larger audience than any American Film yet gets 10% of the profits an American production gets globally.

First trailer of what? IX? eh? I aint gonna go see it. I know there will be people that will though. But if TLJ was any indication, those trailers dont mean SHIT. especially since so much of it was smoke and mirrors.
I can respect that. Hollywood gives us more of what we pay for.
I don’t think the trailers were smoke and mirrors, I just think expectations were shattered since the movie turned franchise tropes on their heads (for better or worse).
The things it threw away werent tropes. throwing the continuity of the plot of your last film away as a gag to the people who wanted a payoff to the last movie is probably the most shameful thing you can do as a writer and director. And I get that you will never admit that because you somehow think that i or anyone else would clown you if you did. As was said many pages ago, bad writing is NOT subjective.

Well it helps that the prequels knew where they needed to end up. New movies are obviously lacking in direction. Unless they want to end up at a place where Light side and dark side don’t matter, TLJ put the last movie in a really awkward situation.
For some of the other points:
- Film theories didn’t ruin Star Wars, making a movie with a bunch of “Surprise you didn’t expect that!” moments ruined Star Wars. Things have to make sense, if things are going to go somewhere weird, then the journey has to prepare you for it. TLJ does a bad job of preparing you for…a good chunk of the things that happen. The journey really took a bite out of a lot of stuff that otherwise would’ve been really cool.
Watching that film theorist vid. He has some important points that apply to the way the movie was received but when it comes to Rey’s parentage, it has more to do with the fact that the way it was answer was “No really, your parents were crackheads and I’m not sure why they didn’t abort you. Its okay though, come hang out with me, rey”. TLJ gives you negative reveal on Rey.

China can EAD. The amount of times people have said that china didn’t have the OG trilogy and that has hurt the franchise ever since should be more than enough to get people to STFU about it.

I had a third point about something. Forgot what it was. So how about that Han Solo movie?
Well, its been a good run:
Never watched any of the animated series. I may have to eventually go back and comb through all of it.
I’m on the same boat, where should I start?
Start at the beginning, but lower your expectations because its kinda “eh”. But after that it just keeps getting better and better.
PS: By beginning i mean first season. after season 1 the show starts getting REALLY good and interesting. But alot of plot points dont make sense if you havent seen the first.
Just out of curiosity, Is Rebels a companion piece to the Star Wars lore or does it dig deep into explaining every untouched nuance between the PT and OT?
not really? it more or less gives a ground level view of what happened after Revenge of the Sith and how the Empire’s rule affected the systems and you get to meet a new set of characters that feel like they could be teetering on the side of annoying but get better as they are more fleshed out. Because of the way its made in the cannon, nothing they do will really matter or affect A New Hope, only add more color to it. Kinda like Rogue One did. But as a companion piece to New Hope, its really nice and I enjoy it. Especially Thrawn.
Something i’ve always wondered about Lightsabers…
Let’s say you ignited a Lightsaber, went outside, turned it upside down, and dropped it tip-first at the ground. How long would it fall? Would it fall forever? What could possibly stop it’s decent deep into the earth?
It depends.
The material on the ground and underground will affect the time it takes for the lightsaber to go “down”
Also does the saber have anything sticking out or have a safety device
