Yeah from the original trilogy, Lucas only directed A New Hope, and then producer had to step in to do most of the real work as After a expsive shot on location in the desert Lucas had almost nothing to show and they had 3 months to finish shooting, editing and distribution

Yup, that’s the jist of it. Rian started writing TLJ while TFA was being filmed. He had TFA script and nothing else. Imagine using 2 directors/writers in the LotR trilogy, you fucked up Disney.

Whew. At least it doesn’t have 3 directors like the original SW trilogy did! Thank Christ!!!

(And before you say "Well Lucus was there to oversee the other 2 movies as producer, J.J and Kennedy have been doing the same thing with this trilogy. They’re both producers after all)

Giving me a situation where it worked, doesn’t take away from the fact that it did NOT work in this case.

I actually think it did work in the case of Episodes 7 and 8. Both movies are excellent.

This is a first,but I actually agree with chadouken on a movie.
Gasp…

As a Transformers fan, Id actually trade abrams and Johnson for Bay any day.
You guys don’t appreciate what you’ve got lol.

I still think the ot is better than this sequel trilogy with prequels at the bottom.
Rose may be a mediocre character but I’ll take her over jar jar and all the racist episode 1 characters.
In comparing a safe trilogy that has better acting with less annoying character to the prequels with better action sequences and some more creative world building,I’ll go with the former.
Star Wars needs the character and emotional stuff a bit more than the space stuff.
Would Empire be as good without it ?
I doubt it.

To be honest I’m tired of of he Skywalker lineage and hope the next trilogy will be devoid of them and Johnson or whoever directs will be less restrained by others.

Brothers in Arms on this statement (especially the Transformers part). If anyone thinks this is the worst movie of 2017, clearly they didn’t see The Last Knight.

The movie had great ideas about subverting expectations and letting the new gen take the reigns, but failed spectacularly at executing them.

Were it not for solid performances from the cast, including Hamill and the strong chemistry between Ridley and Driver ascending above the b-movie plot and dialogue, this film would be sitting next to Transformers: The Last Knight(mare) and Justice League in the "How can you spend THIS much money, and be THIS shitty" wastebin.

It IS Disney’s fault that TLJ is kind of bad.
