Is this guy canon:
A’Sharad Hett
I wasn’t really a fan of Jurassic World, so I don’t really feel anything by this decision. Besides, EP VIII isn’t even out. Given that the tone of the movie is yet to be seen, this is something that should have come later in the first place.
I have a Master Replicas Force FX Darth Vader saber and thought something was missing on the side of it. Apparently I have the Empire version of that release. In the process I found a pretty cool document that details the various saber versions. Cool read if you have the time.

I liked TFA, but come on. It was a very safe rehash of the first movie. I just hope they don’t put in an even bigger Death Star in this one. I think Disney just wants to avoid offending people, reuse old nostalgia feels, and profit off of minimal effort.
If he does this movie like he did Star Trek into Darkness, lower your hype levels immediately.
I think JJ said he regrets not writing an “original” story for 7 and would like a chance to do so for a future Star Wars movie…
Looks like he will get his chance and I’m happy with that.
Don’t jump on the bandwagon, although 7 had some very similar plot points as 4, the movie was still solid.
I agree with you that it’s solid. Saying that the movie is a rehash of another movie doesn’t necessarily mean in and of itself was bad. TFA was well acted, good scripted dialogue, quality production, and overall entertaining. However, it offered very little that was new. Like I said previously, it’s just safe.
I think he is technically capable of delivering, but you have to remember that Star Wars is part of the House of Mouse now. Kathleen Kennedy and crew have a vision that must be executed in a way that addresses that to a tee. Again, that probably involves taking a safer path and giving the audience what they want (in nostalgia, story assembly, and production). Think about all the turnover in the Director’s chair that’s happened on Rogue One, Solo, and IX. There is a disconnect between what they see and what Lucasfilm wants. The Last Jedi personally intrigues me because of Rian Johnson’s work on Looper. I just don’t expect anything world shattering from IX.
As a side note, I hope that IX lacks mystery boxes. . . .
I get what you’re saying however Rogue One’s ending was really “unexpected”. I’d say that ending was everything but safe.
It’s possible Disney is not that restrictive. But once again, I get what you’re saying. They’re building solid, safe, money making movies.
People hate that TFA was somewhat of a rehash but honestly that’s fine. They needed to prove they could do even a safe movie before moving onto anything else.
Yea pretty much. New studio, new director, new writers, new everything was worrysome, especially after how the prequels where received, had to play it relatively safe and prove they get Star Wars and what actually makes it work and resonate with people. TFA proved they get it, even if it was a bit safe, then Rogue One proved they are willing to take a risk with it as well. The Last Jedi is in a great place to do good things both safe and risky and Abrahms can probably do more risky and interesting things with IX as well.
.
TFA needed to be done to show that they could make a Star Wars movie that felt like the OT. At that point in time, we’d been saturated with the prequel trilogy era content. Both the movies, and Clone Wars.
Besides, JJ is a big Star Wars fan. Part of the reason his Trek movies are what they are is because it feels like he wants to do a Star Wars movie in Trek. Rather have the film be in the hands of a guy who pays reverence to the originals, than someone who’d only make it superficially a SW film.
Sounds like a win for us Star Wars fans…
Wish Vestara Khai would join either Star Wars Rebels in the future or have her in Episode IX
You guys are usually pretty on point with your opinions of games and movies.
But I do not understand how you could like TFA. For me, the story and characters fell very flat.
I enjoyed the prequels more than TFA. And that says a lot.
You forgot the Extended Universe and/or Expanded Universe

Vestara Khai, Tahiri Veila, Darth Krayt, and a few others…
I was with you until you said you liked the prequels more than TFA.
My biggest problem with TFA is the way they handled Rey… That girl is skirting the Mary Sue line way too closely.
They need to tone down her invincible plot armor and have her actually earn something in Last Jedi.
That, and make Finn less of a simp, please.
That says even more…
Agreed. Hopefully The Last Jedi tells us why. At least with Anakin there is some sort of prophetic nature to the character. They need to explain why she is as awesome as she with everything otherwise it just comes off as reasons.
