Stan Lee confirms Black Panther and Dr. Strange movies

Dr. Strange: Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the Impact Palm.

It’s gonna be a Brit

I heard there was a Black Dynamite 2 in some kind of workings.
I look forward to a Dr. Strange film. After watching that animated show on Netflix I’m hoping for something great. Can’t think of anyone at the moment for Dr. Strange though…

You are a fucking idiot.

Also, Stan Lee has nothing to do with either producing or casting. He’s a PR spokesperson for Marvel that has zero influence on their decisions.

Considering their recent success of casting relative unknowns in major roles, I don’t expect the main star of either Dr. Strange or Black Panther to be anyone remotely notable.

Idris Elba for BP
and Crews should be playin’ Luke Cage.

If the chance came I’d vote for my boy Joey Ansah. He certainly has the physic and martial art ability for the role, he’s able to pull of the stereotypical African accent very well too lol.

Dr. Strange’s house better be a trip

If guillermo del toro or peter jackson do a marvel movie, dr. Strange would be it

Who are these unknowns you speak of, aside from Chris Hemsworth?

Outside of Thor and Coulson, most every star within the MCU has already made a big or respected name for themselves.

(Blade 2)

I wrote “relative unknowns”, not “complete unknowns”.

Besides Hemsworth, there is also Andrew Garfield and Chris Evans. Personally, I think it’s a smart strategy; with many of these pictures, star power doesn’t affect the box office one iota.

We already know who’s going to be The Black Panther…

I can’t even imagine how awful the Dr Strange movie will be

Evans was already Johnny Fucking Storm for two movies before even putting on the vibranium shield. You have a point somewhat with Garfield, but he catapulted to recognition via The Social Network before taking on Peter Parker.

Never underestimate the draw of high-profile stars. If the main character is portrayed by a newcomer, the supporting cast ALWAYS includes A-listers. Portman, Hopkins, Jackson, Alba (if you count Evans as newcomer in FF), Ifans, Sheen, Field, on and on we go.

Would anyone give a fuck about Nick Fury if he was based off Chi McBride (yeah I know he does his voice now)?

0/10 Joke was already done, props made it worse.

Again, the key phrase is “relative unknown”. Garfield and Evans were known to a few hardcore fans before being cast as leads in Marvel films, but are you seriously going to argue they were on the same level of fame as Robert Downey Jr, Huck Jackman, or hell, even Michael Jai White?

Yeah, Garfield had a supporting role in “The Social Network”. I guess that makes him a huge A-list superstar, right?

It’s not me who is “underestimating” high-profile stars. Rather, it’s the audiences who don’t give a fuck about most of them, and studios who are slowly but surely recognizing this. The Marvel license is what makes the money, not the star. Do you really want me to go down the list of all the recent failed bombs with huge stars behind them?

It’s also notable that one of the few Marvel movies that wasn’t as financially successful (The Hulk) starred a big name, Ed Norton.

Laughed so fucking hard.

It’s not even that funny of a joke for me to laughing this hard but damn it I am.

god damn nigga, you mad as fuck. why dont you go ahead and eat a tin can full of dicks for me though. my man

The Incredible Hulk debuted at #1 and made $263 million dollars. While it is the lowest earning MCU title, don’t forget IRON MAN 1 CAME OUT A MONTH BEFOREHAND.

Keep your arguments within context please.

RDJ’s career was almost dead until Iron Man came along.
Jackman WAS unknown to Hollywood before X-Men.
As was MJW before he was in Spawn.

We can keep going.

I’m not mad at all. I just felt the need to point out that one fact. You are a complete fucking idiot.

Yes, and when you consider the production budget, massive P&A (press and advertisement) budget, and the fact that only about 55% of theatrical revenue actually goes to the studio itself, it’s questionable how profitable the movie was even after accounting for ancillary rights.

Which has been done before and since by superhero blockbuster films, and didn’t negatively affect box office totals at all. As you noted yourself, The Incredible Hulk debuted at #1, so the issue was that it lacked staying power, not that Iron Man had come out within the month.

The point is that they don’t need a “star” in the main role. They have been doing very well casting lesser-known actors as the franchise’s superhero.

Edit-

You realize you’re simply proving my point even more, right?

My whole argument was that they don’t need to cast stars. You replied that I was “underestimating” the influence of big names. Now you’re going back and arguing that RDJ and Jackman weren’t big stars at the time.

If true, it kills your own argument.
