Still wishing I knew how to get there… Damn you people who won’t just post your shit.
Mechanica, call me within the next 5 minutes and we can carpool or something. I don’t actually know Julien’s address, but I know how to get there. I’m also along the way, since you have to take I-5 to get down here, and I live near the exit.
Can’t help you, since I don’t know Alex’s number. I also only make local calls since I’m Chinese, and cheap. Didn’t you get your phone back yet?
Damn I really want to go, but I am recovering from SARS. I think I got it from one of the many many asians at UW. I would not want to get any of the homiez sick.
Well, I want my vehicle so I can come and go as I please, though I appreciate the offer. If someone could even just PM an address that’d be cool… but um, I don’t see that happening so I think I’ll just smoke some weed and go to bed.
Sorry to hear you got the SARS, Pabz.
Don’t know the address. I was actually hoping that you’d drive, so that there’d be one less Asian on the road. I’d just leave whenever you left.
What the fuck kind of chinesey cell phone plan do you have where you don’t get free long distance? Anyways it’s too late now cus I took my pants off, so I will just watch movies and chill in practice mode tonight.
I have my phone but I am lucky if I can even connect or recieve calls on it, I will be getting a new cheapass one this weekend or next week depending on my funds.
If I can change my starting character between rounds, I will use Ryu on everyone not named Vega or Zangief.
Games are off! Good thing I called ahead.
Don’t have a cell, which is the reason I avoid long distance calls. Skype is my friend, though.
There’s an image that’ll keep me warm on those lonely nights.
I’m going to hold you to that. If I’m in the room and I see you playing any character but Ryu when not facing Vega or Geif, I’m going to slap you on the back of the head. Actually, I’m a pacifist. If Jetay shows up, I’ll request that he slap you for me.
edit: BTW, look here for the character selection rules. We’ve been pretty much following the EVO guidelines for everything (except we do 2/3 until the 3/5 GF because that’s how EVO did it in practice as opposed to what’s on the site), so we’ve been adhering to the character selection rules since season 1. Pay attention to the 2nd bullet under Standard Selection, and the 5th bullet of the second part of Playing the Match.
EVO standards pretty much apply. Unless the person who’s SUPPOSED to run ST (Nate, this mean your lazy butt) wants to change the format. I think allowing people below the top 4 seeds to choose their place in the bracket (as is the case in a couple of the other tournaments) is an interesting idea.
Addendum: O. Sagat (You have to gimme that one). If so, I request blind picks for all my matches Keith, and you have to pick my character for me, where my first character is always hot fire Ryu unless it is O. Sagat, Zangief, or Vega.
Second Addendum: My Ryu is ALWAYS to be Start button color, with the exception of Pablo the sexican who will of course be ceded the goku colors and I will use Forward color.
I ain’t giving you shit! If I see your non-Ryu up against anyone but Zangeif or Vega, I’m calling for physical violence. You can’t dip the switches onto the American settings either. Mwa-ha-ha.
What do you mean?
Also, how do I get the right DIPs for TDC2, they’re not right by default right? What speed and vers. do I use?
If you’ve got TDC2, first, download the save game from the game selection menu (point to the VMU pictured) to your memory card. Then, once Grand Master Challenge is loaded up, hit start, press up/down until you see “OPTIONS”, then hold Y (top button on the face of a DC controller) and press A (bottom button on the fact of a DC controller). Then, select the February 23rd, 1994 preset. That’s the closest you can get to the arcade experience at present.
In the regular options menu, you should put the game at Turbo 3. This is the standard speed for US tournaments going back to when EVO used DC’s, all the way up to Season’s Beatings last weekend. It still feels like an anesthetized Marvel, but that’s what ST players like about the game.
Click here for a near complete list of what all the dip switches do. If you’ll note, there’s a switch that’ll make the game the English version, with English version names. For the tournament, we stick with Japanese names and win quotes, because that’s the 2/23/94 preset. Bring on that Super Saiyan Ryu!
So which version is Ryu’s name pronounced “roo” in? I wanna play on that one.
I hate it when people say “Rai Yuu” instead of “Ree Yuu”, but meh. I hate it when people get hung up on pronouncing stuff the right way more.
I think pronunciation nazis are annoying too, but I have NO idea where "roo"comes from, and Keith is the only person I have EVER met who pronounces it that way.
“Ree you” is what I say usually, but I am trying to train myself to return to my 1992 pronunciation of “RYE-YOU” because it sounds more American and badass.
i have it on saturn. :smokin:
I think it would sound similar to ruu if you heard someone who is a native japanese speaker say his name. The u is a pretty short vowel despite how people pronounce it. It’s more like ruu then Ryu. That would be more like Ryuu if that makes any sense at all. then again I could be completely full of shit on this.
That’s not something that people generally want to admit to having. Kinda like herpes.
No. Yeah.
You really have to hear Keith pronounce “Roo” like Paul Hoagan to really appreciate how funny it is.
I have it on MAME. I played it yesterday when coming back from Seattle
