Aside from fireball fakes, I think the reason they whiff far s.strong is just because it’s a good normal. In watching those videos, I noticed both ken and ryu use s.strong effectively against large characters like sagat and gief. In one instance, Ryu tagged sagat with a strong quickly after ducking a high tiger shot in somewhat close range. What struck me about that was the distance he hit sagat with it–too great a distance to hit with cr. fwd or rh! I’ve never seen strong hit at that far a distance before. I think this is because sagat’s arms where still in high tiger animation.
In another vid, ken snuffed one of gief’s standing normals cleanly with a s.strong. Looks like it’s time to start using s.strong more…
The footage is okay, but nothing really special. It doesn’t seem like it’s SBO footage, but I could be wrong. Can anyone make out where the vids came from on the page?
I’ve never seen so much new Sagat played in my life, and the Fei Long vids are absolutely dreadful. The ken vs zangief match is at least somewhat interesting but for the most part, the gamecombo vids put up a year ago are alot better and offer more insight into some obscure ST tricks (no offense).
