It does on wakeup you just have to know when they are getting up so it easier to do on untechable knockdowns but it works thats why its one his meatys.
I’ve meatied it off a sweep and a throw and i’ve been doing that for months. And every time the word “reversal” came out with a fierce srk, the meaty got beat clean. Are you sure you’re not just beating out wakeup jab shoryus? Because a balrog crouching jab will beat that. If you could reproduce it on video or something or maybe point out an vid with an instance, that would be great. (again, not calling you out or anything. Just that if there’s a way to stuff fierce srk on wakeup without having to late crossup, i think it’d be damn useful)
sorry no vid equip but if u try it on Akuma its easier to tell. since his Lp DP knocks dwn on first while his fierce does not
It really wasn’t necessary to run it with akuma since I had the dummy recorded to knockdown and meaty, but i did it with both ryu and akuma’s jab and fierce srks. On reversal, jab SRKs always traded. Fierce SRKs always beat crouching mp on wakeup. So yeah, any time you traded or stuffed one on wakeup with mp, I’m pretty sure it was a jab srk.
Do we know for sure this was crouching? It almost looked like recovery animation for the hurricane kick.
Maybe that was the crouching animation a character does before he jumps
You also have to remember jus because they are crouching doesnt mean they are sitting ducks. Clearly that ryu did no other action before he jumped so nothing would conflict or halt his actions. In this case gief can be jumped out of.
Dudley’s EX dp is his only dp with any invincibility.

lol at people who think akuma close fp xx lk tatsu not working on guy makes any difference.
it’s only used for punishment and specific combos (like off of demon kick) where akuma gets a hit confirm and is still really close to the opponent. in most of these situations people will just use cr.fp (if it works, it’s same damage) or cr.mp instead.
it doesn’t remove his bnb combos, just changes which attack he will use.
now if cr.lp xx lk tatsu, or cr.mp xx lk tatsu didn’t work… it would be a much bigger deal since it affects his ability to hit confirm much more.
It’ll make a difference at first for those who’ve never seen it work like that, so there’s still a possibility of it having some use for a lil while.

In that Guy vs Ryu vid, I’m not sold yet for 2 reasons. Reversal came on the screen when he did it, yet Ryu did nothing, so this could be because Tatsu’s animation hadn’t completed yet. Or the Ryu didn’t jump on reaction to the Ultra and was holding u/f as soon as Tatsu was over meaning he was already in jump frames when U2 started.

I main gouki, and I don’t know if you know your shit but hit confirm l.k, l.p ~ st.c.Hp is important for Akuma. Yeah, you can use m.p instead of cl.hp buuuuut sometime, (and it happen often, that’s the reason why an Akuma player rarely use c.mp xx tatsu but c.mp xx s.Hk ) c.mp push the oponnent and tatsu whiff. And as Akuma, being punish for that little mistake by a bunshin chain xx ex shoulder ( and worst if you’re in the corner ) is dangerous.
for me it’s no so much the fact that the hurricane whiffed… you gotta look at it as… why the hell DID it whiff? it obviously should hit. it says something about guy’s hitbox…or if guy has a glitch overall on his hitbox… and this is the only example we’ve seen of something that should hit, not working on guy… there could be more stuff that whiffs on guy. so yea… that’s how i look at it at least.

It’s not obvious why it should whiff. It’s obvious it SHOULD whiff. Look at what happens. He gets punched in the gut… he doubles over and ducks… the hurricane goes over his head. It’s just a character specific anomaly. Much like trying c.lp,c.lp -> qcb+lk on Blanka. It doesn’t work (you have to use c.lp, c.mp -> qcb+lk).

lol and i’m not sure if you read my post but i already stated that it’s pretty much only used for punish and combos where you get an early hit confirm and you are still close enough to the opponent for close fp. this totally covers your scenario does it not?
and if you’re an akuma main, then you should know that if you’re close enough to be using close standing fierce punch, then you’re close enough for cr.mp xx lk tatsu to hit.
actually i’m pretty sure cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.mp xx lk tatsu, works from farther away than cr.lk, cr.lp, close fp doesn’t it?
so yeah, a maximum loss of 30 dmg on some combos is annoying but not really a game changer.
yeah that’s an interesting possibility. that some moves (like lk tatsu) that don’t hit crouching opponents might whiff on Guy in hit animation.
i was more responding to the people who think this is going to make a big difference against akuma though.
the only other thing i can think of it affecting is possibly the cl.fp, teleport cancel, Ultra 2 (since it hits kind of high). this setup might not work on guy either.
(don’t know if ch cr.mp, rh link works anymore since they slowed down akuma’s standing rh. if it does work, this could possibly affect it but i doubt it.)
Is it the first or second hit of d/f+HK that launches? I wonder if it could be focus canceled.
i doubt it will … because it is a unique attack. not a normal neither a special. would be cool though

Maby its written here somewhere sorry, but can his regular shoulder duck fireballs?, and also his flying kick move, does that one jump over fireballs aswell if u time it right?
