i have a feeling guy will suck ass… im guessing he’ll have a very good close up mix-up game but other than that he probably won’t have many tools. hopefully the turn around fist will still be able to go through projectiles and he’ll have his final fight link combo.
i dont really care for adon but i really want to play with guy
this announcement made my thanksgiving…hopefully we get something around Christmas
I never played any old Street Fighter, can someone explain what kind of character Guy is?
Fast, rushdown, combo-heavy.
hahahah! /\
mp, fp, far s.mk xx slide…OF DOOM!
:looney:
Please let him keep the final fight chains and far s.mp xx run/stop. I dont want capcom to do what they did to gen in 4.
I hope Guy wont be a shitty character in this game. I feel like the console characters in SFIV werent as polished as the arcade ones.
Glad to hear guy is confirmed and I’m hoping that kunai belongs to my lovely Ibuki.
The kunai looks like It’s from Ibuki… I think she will be in SSF4.
Almost every rumor was confirmed (or every?)
Glad that Guy is in there, I hate his name but his fighting style is awesome.
Wonder if Guy and ibuki will be rivals? maybe the kunai will be more interaction rival scenes or something like the alpha series. Where you get a mid game rival? i hope so.
It was always fun to watch high level players go nuts with Guy. I’m glad to see him back in the game.
Why does everyone keep saying this… They aren’t shoto’s with epic priority, they aren’t Sagat, nothing like that… Fei Long is a fucking BEAST and this is before Wong picked him up, I’ve been using him from day 1 this game came out… trust me, they aren’t given enough credit. I feel like they lend more to their SF2 counterparts; simple yet effective. Not everyone needs a DP FADC into Ultra.
Guy will require people to work…THAT’S why people don’t want him in the game. Everyone wants easy mode characters, and even if people are good with Guy or any mid-tier, people will always discourage them from being used because of the whole " All that work…and he still lost." attitude. I think it could be fun to play Guy in SSF4 and I’ve liked his playing style because my hands work and I don’t mind actually playing a character that has mixups and fun combos to do that might require a little more work than someone who I don’t have to use my brain to use.
If he is indeed like A1 Guy (which I doubt) I would laugh my ass off. More likely he will be fun but people will still play easier characters.
SFA1 Guy chains please.
He’d be S (for stupid) tier if they game him those.
The console characters are fine, but their major disadvantage is that they are non threatening characters. They don’t have any moves or anything special you need to watch out for and thus they never have better than a 5-5 match up. It is not that they are garbage characters… they just don’t create any bad match up, but may have a few bad match up against a few of the arcade characters. Tiers are made up entirely by match up. Because of this, the console guys tend to round out the bottom of the list.
Back on topic… yeah, I’m excited for Guy. I played him a lot back in the alpha days, however, in those times I was only like 15 and didn’t understand the whole fighting game mechanics yet. He looks to be a solid rush down character with a good mix up game, but I think that will depend on how good they decide to make his demon flip-like move. If it is like anything like it was in alpha, he will own at rush down. But considering Akuma’s and Cammy’s command flips are lack luster at best - situation-ally used and can be seen a mile away, then Guy is gonna be on the bottom. But if Guy can combo into his flip to create quick ambiguous cross up resets for high/low set ups, hes gonna be pretty nasty.
Overall, glad to see him, hope they don’t fuck him up. Make that flip as useful as it was in alpha, and maybe even give his rising hurricane kick some DP like priority, or at least wake up priority. Either way though, hes gonna be a risk taking character. Hes gonna own, or hes going to get owned, kind of the way chun and rufus are right now.
As long as SSF4 isn’t complete ass, I have a new main.
Glad to see some old (better) characters returning.
Thats not my point. Abel, Viper, Rufus, Boxer and Blanka are very competitive characters and theyre not “easy to learn shotos”.
What I mean is that some of the console characters have problems that you dont seem to find in the arcade ones, such as messed up hitboxes or whiffed Ultras after FADC attacks.
Being hard to learn doesnt mean that the character is shitty, by all means. I really want to play Guy, thats why Im a bit concerned about him.
Keep in mind that, afaik, the console characters weren’t given the attention the arcade characters got. There was no widespread play testing of them to help balance them like the arcade characters got.
However, hopefully, now that there will no longer be such a thing as “console characters” in SSF4, they’ll all be a bit better.
I’m looking forward to Guy or Ibuki. Ken’s combo-ey-ness just isn’t combo-ey-ness-y enough for me, I miss SF3 Ibuki big ass combo into an ex uppercut kick into an air combo into more shit.
God Ibuki was so damn cool. They better retain that. I’m kind of hoping Guy is at least… in that mind-set of long winded badass technical combos.
I hear you man. That’s why I think having an arcade version would be wise. It’d be like having a checkpoint: People will play the new characters at the arcade, players and developers will see glitches, bugs, and other minor faults, and be able to fix them before throwing it out on console.
Here’s hoping that Capcom doesn’t mess him up, otherwise, we might have to wait another year to get the bugs fixed while they add more fan favorites.
Guy looks like he will be a pain in the ass to fight
sorry Gen but your finished…lol
small fast character? 900 health please…lol
