I really don’t know anything about modern gaming. The last console I had was a Dreamcast! Never bought a PC game in my life. So…
Will have SSFIV:AE PC DVD-ROM in a few days but don’t know what to expect.
(1) I don’t have any optical drive in my desktop. I can rip an image of the DVD-ROM to my computer with an IDE DVD-R & IDE-USB bridge . I can then mount the ISO. Would that work?
(2) What’s the deal with the DRM/license ?.. Do I have to activate the game? Do I own the game or is it like OEM windows and tied to the hardware ?
(3) I read that MS are going to junk GfWLive next year (2014). So PC players can only use on-line for just over six months more Y/N?
I can’t answer your questions. But I’m curious about why you didn’t get in through Steam?
eBay = GBP 5.99
STM = GBP 14.99
So if I got through Steam; is it played on-line via Steam servers ?
–Confused-- Is there a FAQ for how to be a gamer nowadays ?
I don’t believe the servers have anything to do with Steam.
Honestly, with all the upcoming complications with GFWL shutting down, and your current situation, you might have been better off just paying the extra $10.
Oh, and speaking from my experience owning SF4 on disk, I could never play the game without the disk in the drive. I don’t know if AE changed that though.
You imply that when GFWL shuts down the games can’t be played period ?
–no can’t be right as MS would simply release XBOX for Windows and that client would also handle the old GFWL games.
… So if ALL on-line play is through GFWL - and not Steam - then why would I buy it through Steam when steam is 200% higher price!!? -So I get an image? -well I can make an Image no problem infact I already DL’d from some bay-site but don’t mind paying 10 bucks for the disc & on-line play (not that I want to open that bay-img cus of virus… but I know it exists lol).
AHH. Penny dropped.
GFWL is shite. Steam offers tighter gameplay. Ultra SFIV on Steam in Dec.
Great! I can practice on SSFIVAE ready for Ultra.
Good luck. I see a lot of frustration in your future over $10, but if it means that much to you, I hope you can make it work.
Yeah it working fine, thanks. I couldn’t rip an image - don’t know why but maybe it’s because DVD was plugged in via USB - anyway, installed via DVD-ROM.
Seems the serial key is linked to my GFWL ID. That’s how the “protection” works.
Will get the full 2013 version - if I really enjoy the game - when Steam-Ultra comes out.
