SSF4 Tier List Thread REBOOT Super + AE (Updated: 02-01-09)

People shouldn’t consider tiers in this game to mean “Good” and “Bad” or “Low” and “High”. It AE, the tiers mean “high”, “higher” and “highest”.

Daigo doesn’t like characters like Abel
he’s not solid enough

You just dont know, its mago that its a genius feilong is not top tier.

THE CURRENT GOD? HOW STRONG IS FEI-LONG!?

The other S ranked character is Fei-Long, what are your thoughts? He?s definitely strong but not a lot of players use him compared to Yun

Mago: Fei-Long really is the strongest, isn?t he? He?s definitely got an advantage over most of the cast compared to Yun and Yang.

Daigo: There?s no mistaking it, right now he?s the best character in the game. No matter who uses him, the damage off of MK Flame Kick x FADC x Chicken Wing has not changed (laughs).

Mago: That takes off a toooon of damage. It?s 140 + 140. MK Flame Kick takes off so much damage that HK Flame Kick isn?t even needed.

Tokido: Basically, if your opponent is Fei-Long, you cannot move. There?s really nothing you can do.

Daigo: I feel that you really have to fight him as if he?s a ?super Blanka? when it comes down to it. When Tokido says you can?t move, that really speaks to the power of Fei-Long. He?s even better in that regard than Sagat was in the original Street Fighter IV.

That is all.

I’m more surprised that Mago thinks Blanka is annoying to play against.

Maybe he is saying Fei is better because it may be harder to random him out? He has what more 5-5 matches that may be slightly in his favor idk? But in SF4 Sagat never won anything. But Fei has won a few things in SSF4. Coincidence? I dont think so.

That or Mago is just god and every Fei player is just a shit stain.

Can someone explain the advantage of using mk flame kick instead of hk flame kick? Better invincibility?

Probably from getting blown up by Choco Blanka.

Japanese tournies?

i.frames on either mk.st or hk.st would make him A. giving i.frames to only ex.st would make him B (assuming the list is made S, A, B, C, D, E).

overpowered though? not even close

Big ones, like SBO. Winning weekly “street battles” where probably 50% of the players are Sagat shouldn’t constitute as winning. Its like winning at the arcade. But that’s me.

damage distribution. HK is 2 hits, and only the first hit is FADCable and it does less damage than MK flamekick.

that was vs. sagat though. I’ve only seen 2 matches of Mago playing fei vs. blanka and he just rolled them both.

HK flamekick has a dmg split. something like 90*70.

MK flame kick is one hit for 140

so if you fadc’ed the HK version you only get 90dmg

well he’s better in the sense that he went 5-5 with most characters in console super. he got buffs to help his bad matches, and most of the 5-5 characters got nerfed. also fei does the same dmg and has most of the same frame data where the characters that were on his level got nerfed

i could make a good argument as to why fei wasnt absolute best in console, with many other charcetrs being right on his level. cant really fight his placing in AE. he will have like 4 bad matches at worst, be even in a few others, and have strong advantages over the rest

if fei vs ryu was indeed a 7-3 in console, with the ryu nerfs, whats the match score now in AE? 8-2?

only character on every single team listed is SAGAT.

probably. I remember reading that AE polarazied things a bit. And its true.

Developers are taking away options a character should “supposed” not have to begin with and giving them options to make them play as “they” seem fit. It really imbalances characters that where not even that amazing to begin with.

Its fucking stupid, really. A game where mix up characters and rush down characters have all the tools to shit on solid zoning and footsies is fucking lame. Its not KoF or all those loli games like BlazBlu with shiny shit going on.

Ok so he won two. Still for someone that was supposedly God himself (when it really was Akuma) you’d think he would win more often. Though, Sagat being on every single team only swells the chance of Sagat winning.

he’s talking about space control, and not overall standing. just making sure you know the context

other way around. the chance of a team winning only swells when they have sagat. :stuck_out_tongue:

i dont feel like looking up the old BP rankings but i remember sagat stood head and shoulders above the rest of the top 50 in vanilla arcade too.

i feel like you guys are going to argue in circles.

vanilla sagat was beastly, AE fei is beastly. its apples and oranges tho. the games that they are in are too different in terms of balance.

sagat had only one bad match, and could stumble his way back into matches when he shouldnt have been able to. fei just dosent lose to many characters, and in the scope of AE is just better than the rest. they both are S tier, but for different reasons, and in different circumstances

i dont think you’ll ever have a situation where most of the top 50 are fei players. he just dosent present enough inherent matchup advantages other than space control, and cant really rely on that comeback potential that sagat was famous for

Sagat - 344 players over 50k BP
next closest was Akuma with 130, then Ryu with 118

Sagat ran the show in SF4 vanilla mostly because of his ridiculous comeback factor as hnic mike mentioned. Fei doesn’t have that at all… he can really hurt ya with shoryu FADC but not for 50%+ of your life

i agree, fei is not nearly as dominant as sagat was ?*it’s harder to accidentally fluke out a win and he can’t sneeze into 500+ damage on the entire cast.

although the character specific sc.mp -> hk chicken wing -> followups make him feel pretty goddamn stupid when i’m on the receiving end of it. lol.

Percent wise iirc 13% of Sagat players where Masters. Akuma had 11% percent total masters. Sagat may have ran the show, but Akuma was really King.

Can someone give me the numbers so I can calculate for people who are going to say im full of shit. I did it already in the previous tier thread following the release of Super.

@Blackadde

It can be said both ways.

@on topic

Yun, Fei, and maybe Hakan are going to run this show so hard.
