He’s not talking about FADC’ing the hayate. In 3S if you hold the punch button when you do a hayate it’ll charge it much like Sakura’s fireball. If you press a kick button while she’s charging hayate it will cancel it completely (no meter required).

I put in my SF Anniversary disc in last night and played around with Makoto and something I haven’t seen discussed on this board before is her kara-xxx ability. Does anyone know anything about her kara-cancelling moves will be carried over from 3rd strike? It would seem logical if Capcom say to preserve her feel as much as they could but I am just wondering if they carry over something like kara-cancels from 3rd strike to SSF4…
Also, how important were her kara-ability in terms of her game play in 3rd strike? If they didn’t carry them over, would it hurt her in any ways??

I for one feel that her Kara moves are important to her game, so I hope they’ve kept that intact. Then again the engine is different, so it might not be needed. But, the more tools the better.

Kara-karakusa is in I read. If that’s so then kara throws will be and potentially (POTENTIALLY) kara fukiage might be. I don’t know SF4 well enough but I don’t remember other characters having kara-specials unless it’s a special normal like Sagat’s LK or +HK etc.

hayate feint didnt move her forward in 3s. because of the pushback of hitstun theres no way that would be an inf. maybe with sf4’s terrible stun mechanics/hit detection you could do two but the shortcuts and accidental negative edge would kill the practical value of it.

Maybe you could get off Fierce, Hayate cancel, C.Strong -> Hayate. Or, if the hitstun pushback isn’t too bad and/or the cancel goes fast enough, Fierce, Hayate cancel, Fierce, Hayate cancel, C.Strong -> Hayate. The second sounds more like a tool-assisted-only combo, if it’s even possible.
And I’d feel better about it if those Makoto players were talking after some hands-on experience with Super, rather than conjecture after looking at the same videos the rest of us have, combined with their SF3 experience.

Yes you’re right, I thought I remembered him saying Hayate cancel then dash then do another HP. Of course if she’s standing in place then it wouldn’t be an infinite.
Maybe im thinking of things all wrong he but most time when i FADC its to cancel into ultra or to extend a combo like hands, or to be safe.
edit after typing a long drawn out response : in a nut shell im seeing sim like issues. The only saving grace is that its fast.
