It’s on bro. It’s so on.

MK all day.

There are 12 colors on the pic, but only 10 colors in game… 2 people are going to get shafted here… :frowning:

Didn’t she have 13 colors in SF3 console, though? 6 regular, 6 Start + regular, and the LP+MK+HP pink.

In that video, it’s definitely a jump cancel. I get the feeling however, that she’ll only be able to do it off of the Fukiage and her ultra.

I want Abare > MP Fukiage > MK Tsurugi > EX Hayate > HP Hayate. Or at least Abare > MK Tsurugi > EX Hayate > HP Hayate. Somehow I doubt they’ll let us juggle 2 normal Hayates as an AA.

Do we approve of this image? I do:badboy:

Basara Seal of Approval!

fadc anything makoto up close will suck if your not back dashing from your opponent and even then since her back dash was never really that good it’ll still suck.

There is a certain distance you want to dash with makoto any other distance gets you punished, you NEVER want to dash right next to your opponent unless they where jumping, so you could get to the other side.

FADC any of her moves besides a chop that connects (which would be pointless it would seem) would get you punished everytime. That leads me to think that her dash is going to get changed a good bit.

The only moves i can see being FADC “worthy” are her normals, cr mp mk. fwd FPx3, st RH and st fp on hit being the most sexy. Even still df df dp’s are still going to be a BIG problem.

In short for what im theory crafting I don’t think her fadc game is going to be that strong. Not that it really matters in all honesty…

Why would you think that? Anyone’s dash is pointless at close range if they’re not in blockstun - it’s not like hers is more punishable than others, and it still appears to be very fast for SF4. I would be surprised if her FADCs were not safer than most.

Interesting thought: What if Hayate cancel is fast enough that it allows you to chain heavies, a la Viper? Not only that, but it could allow for dash pressure like Abel’s f+MK. s.HP xx HP Hayate > Cancel > Dash > Karakusa on block. She might not even need FADC.

I doubt Hayate cancel would be fast enough for linking multiple Fierce’s. j.Hp>s.HpxxHayate Cancel>s.HpxxTanden Renki>Ultra would deal absurd damage.

Gonna keep rocking my Mp Makoto.

You could use Hayate cancels to link normals in 3S, you can see it sometimes in combo videos for example. That might be the avenue they choose to make Makoto’s advanced SF4 combos unique, since juggles aren’t as possible in this engine. I.e., Ibuki gets HJC, Makoto gets normal -> hayate cancel -> normal.

And that second point is certainly possible as well. Some moves had enough hitstun that you could hold down hayate for a split second to make hitconfirm easier and still combo, or cancel if they blocked into a forward dash. In cases where you started with something that scales the rest of the combo, you could use the cancel to cut it short and dash in for a sort of reset.

We still haven’t seen anyone cancel a Hayate, but it seems like something they might emphasize considering what they said about Ibuki’s superjump.

Makoto with fierce feint fierce? lol.

I can dream.

f-f-f-hayate-super-ultra sounds pretty dumb on paper, and it’s also a much easier motion than viper’s

Shinobi, I saw that pic in your avatar earlier today and thought that someone had to make an icon out of it. Did you see the mario edit?

I’m not understanding your point here. As far as I know if (hit/block stun of the first move) - dash frames - startup of the next < 1 then you can either continue the combo, or keep them in blockstun. Of course this depends on the frame data for her moves, but I don’t see why you’re ready to write it off just yet. Maybe the stuff wont work, but looking how well it works for so many people in the cast I’m inclined to believe that it will.

Well the Combo you listed (- the second HP) is reported to work, and since you’d need 6 EX bars to do what you mentioned I don’t see much of a problem.

Yeah, I have both images saved, lol. I debated making a gif avatar with the two images.

On the SRK podcast, two of the best Makoto players in the US felt like Makoto was going to turn out okay. The worse you heard out of them was that she was going to be mid-high tier (the second Makoto player said that).

Not that I care about tiers as much as downright game play and options. I’m glad Ive played a lot of Abel this past year, because with Makoto I will have to do one thing very good like Abel.

Block.

Oh and dash command throw lol.
