Personally, I think the matchup is 6-4 Akuma, but that’s just me.
Anyway…Akuma #1 in SSFIV. I call it.

^I think akuma will definitely be top tier again in super maybe even S this time around…they nerfed dP’s across the board and his was not affected that much…His BnB will still do about 300 dmg in SUper WITHOUT a jump in which is kind of crazy for super…Akuma has never needed a combo-able ultra…he never will with the tools he has…In my opinion in SF4 I thought the match was match-up wise even but at a super high lvls to be slightly in Akuma’s favor…but again, that’s me…my opinion…I’m not trying to push it on anyone…
OMFG!!! did anyone think to try…x-up air fb->ultra 2…OMG…if that works…akuma…wow…yeah he’ll be amazing…I’ve hit a sweep after an x-up air fb…which means it t least give you +6…man…the possibilities on certain characters will be ridiculous…that would in my opinion make him the best hands down…basically…free 500 dmg after a demon flip throw which is 150dmg…so you’ll get about 600+dmg off of one pretty easilly confirmable setup where you can control whether or not the air fb cross-up…hahaha rofl copter AWAY!!!

I thought the air fireball itself always hit on the same side no matter what, and it’s what side Akuma lands on that is controllable. Am I mistaken?
Bokkin that is genius
If that is possible it would be sick

imagine if akuma makes it to S tier and they wound up banning him just like the good old days of ST. that would be entertaining.
But he isnt THAT good right? Plus he still has low health and he’s balanced pretty well (maybe a bit too strong). But i think dudley or hakan have a better chance of winding up S tier, probably Dudley from the looks of it.

Hakan? Haaaaaaaah.
And Akuma isn’t overpowered by any means, taking out his loop helps ensure this.

yeah u have the right idea…this game is all about character location…but if you delay the x-up air fb it will them to block the opposite side you jumped and if you do it immediately the have to block it same side you jumped…basically a free 50/50 setup into more vortex or beefy combo…and if ultra is possible…damn…
same idea as seth’s wake up sb tricks…yeah you get hit alot…don’t lie…everybody does…not akuma teleport ftw! but yeah…same idea
Akuma is Sagat’s worst match up, that being said. I don’t buy the 6-4 argument. I give a slight edge to Akuma, but that edge is only there if you can play a near flawless game because one major mistake means a lot of your bar is gone. I call the match more like 55/45 in Akuma’s favor.
Well not everyone falls for xup fireballs…in fact most of the people who’ve seen in before will block the right way…even if they didn’t you’d need pretty good reflexes to IMMEDIATELY activate the ultra…it’s kind of a hard hit confirm, don’t you think so?
Apart from the possible combo abilities of the new Ultra (Which seem rather strict) I think the one thing I would miss about the Vanlila Ultra is the fact you can make a lot of your normals safe because of the threat of the ultra. Assuming them haven’t nerfed that in SSF4

I honestly don’t think it would be to bad…if you do the TK air fb you have way more time than a quick motion x-up air fb…then again it’s always going to be x-up but that’s where the conditioning comes in…if it works it’ll be a great way to land ultra…if you think that’s hard hit confirming…play 3s…cMK->super outside of chun is sooo fast…
but… but, sagat shouldn’t have a bad match-up.

In my opinion Akuma-Sagat is slightly tipped in Akumas favor, but just slightly. Akuma has more options but has to work hard to win. Sagat has less options, but has more HP and does a lot of damage. It basically comes down to player skill (no shit sherlock!). As an example: I played a Sagat yesterday and in round 3 he beat me to 0HP (there was no lifebar visible anymore). His last hit knocked my out the air, resetted me, and tried to TS to chip me to death, which was a huge mistake since I buffered the Ultra in the air and caught him with it. Since that scored me a non-techable knockdown I vortexed him to death. This in contrast to round 2 where I was beasting on him but made 1 mistake and he comboed me to death. Sagat needs to hit one TU to kill Akuma (exagerated a little, but just a little), but he also needs to guess a lot on his wake-up. In my opinion the guessing game gives Akuma a slight advantage.
yeah but those were cancels…
the startup of the new ultra seems REALLY slow and this means you should probably input the command at the exact moment you see the fb hit…or maybe even earlier, making it harder than a 3s hit confirm…anyways yeah, it’d be a good option…don’t know if it’ll be enough to make me switch from ragin demon tho.
Yeah but i kinda see it as Ryu’s xup tatsu to super. Daigo isn’t even able to hitconfirm it, but i’ve seen im use it a few times. You just have to condition your opponent to think that the fireball doesn’t cross up and just buffer the ultra during the jump. I wonder what the recovery frames on his ultra 2 are, but im guessing it isnt as safe to whiff as ryu’s super.
I think it will be pretty easy because you should just have to buffer the ups while you are flying over and then if it hits you just push the 3 kick buttons the instant you land and if it doesn’t hit you don’t. You land just an instant after the FB hits so it shouldn’t be that hard.
I agree though, if there aren’t more ways of comboing into it I don’t think it will be enough to get me to take it over Raging Demon. What I wonder is if you can cancel any normal into U2…
Does anyone know how soon you can cancel the Teleport into Ultra 2? If you could do it soon enough, wouldn’t it make a decent punish maneuver? I assume it’s not fast enough to do something like cs.HP xx Teleport xx Ultra 2, or we probably would’ve seen that already.
