SSF4 AE Vega Changes

Bah, it is our plight I guess, if you look closely at the vanilla sagat matchup, he can basically bully you into the corner, then chip you to death, and any of the few counters to TK infine pseudo blockstring loop have a silly risk/reward ratio.

Same goes with vanilla bison’s cr.lk cr.lk cr.mk LSK infinite pseudo blockstring loop, granted he has a much tougher time pushing you into the corner first.

Same goes with vanilla Boxer cr.lp cr.lp cr.mp DashStraight.

Vanilla Rufus galactic tornado loop,

and any other guy i forget with a special that moves him forward, with not enough frame delay for vega to do anything and extremely difficult and risky to stuff on startup.

And i am not even factoring those characters who can rely on safe oki or safe mixups. (gief, honda, viper, abel, fuerte, akuma)

I hit once with meter I win matchups (gouken, sakura, seth)

At my level everything is possible, people make mistakes, they fuck up their strings or combos, their ground game is not good, they can’t tech well, they fail at punishing when I fuck up, they don’t know the matchup, they are impatient.

But at higher level of play, some matches boil down to nothing more than choose between die from chip in the corner or try not to and die faster.

If AE is the same i don’t care much, i lived through vanilla i will through AE, i ll do my best to win and if that is not enough, well too bad.

When someone FA your CH is that considered a block? Back in Super, I’d be able to launch a Cosmic Heel into someone’s FA, and still have enough time to grab them before the actual hit of the FA got me. Now that CH has been nerfed on block in AE, it seems I can’t ever do this anymore. Anyone know if the first half of a FA is considered a block?

you never could do that, any one with competent reactions could FA your naked Cosmic Heel and rape it. Anyone with good reactions could release his FA and punish you everytime you hit a FA with ur Cosmic Heel.

Haven’t been on SRK in ages and ages, but it’s great to see ‘The Great Vega Civil War’ shows no signs of abating…:zzz:

I’ll be on here a lot more for the foreseeable…until I find a way to deal with them twin feckers…

Quote of the year XD.
Ahhh! I’m still so gutted that we lag with eachother D’:

Got three weeks until Evo to learn to get around the twins. This should be fun haha. I’ve found that by treating them as I do the Rog matchup (being patient, keeping them out and being extremely alert to their shenanigans), it doesn’t feel as bad as it did.

i’ve noticed this a lot lately too

Only way to get around the twins is to rig the brackets.

Treat them like Rog? Boxer can’t open you up, get the lifelead and counterpoke his shit. Try this with the twins. Can’t play reactive against them or they get in way to easy.

Haha, it’s moreso the patience. Because when they actually get in and start pressuring, you really have to be patient or eat counterhit into loldead XD

It gets very ridicoulus, but it opens them up for kara throws. Well it used to.

command grab dictates that patience is not the what you want in this match up. Its the ability to out read them. With that said, a lot of luck is involved in the match up and you can’t approach this match up like you would traditionally. Yun specifically is a natural hard counter to SF4 Vega. Its the same thing with Yang, but to a lesser degree. With that said, I don’t see a Vega making it top 8 maybe even top 16 in a big major again unless there is a lack of good Yun’s and Yangs.

IdK how Capcom expects Vega to be viable for top tier ranking in tourney settings if they took a lot and didn’t give back anything. Its really odd. With that said, I try and approach matches like Sasaki did in what he posted in the other thread. Sadly I don’t think that will get anybody far in a game where Vega lacks comeback tools and other tools.

Oh definitely, I can agree with that. The command grab is the annoying part of the patience. Trying to make decent reads in the MU is extremely difficult once he gets in. I’ll get used to it though, the more I play, the more I’m understanding him.

Yeah, that lag is a crying shame…I was mad disappointed myself. :shake:

You’re going to EVO? Best of luck with that! I hope you do well and give a great representation of UK Vega!
(I probably should’ve have known about this, but I’ll have to read over all the threads/posts I’ve missed)

Look out for the Irish heads who are heading over, Stev0 Kanevo, ‘Chopper’ Byrne and Dan (Orim).
They’re all dead sound and Stev0 is an excellent player (Honda) who could do* very well*, if his nerves hold up.
Obviously you’ll have to take into account that they’ll be imbibing a couple of shandies…so, when dealing with them, take precaution!

Haha will do. Honestly, I expect to lose every game there. I’m not solid at all.

you’re way more solid than a lot of people i’ve seen. I’d be suprised if you went anything less than 4-2.

I’m surprised we haven’t tried to collaborate on anti-twin tech really.

For real.

I’m flattered that you think so haha. (Not being sarcastic, I actually am.)

your vega is solid. predictable… but solid.

I’m not sure how predictable and solid fit in the same sentence with this game x_x
