Then you’re just deceiving yourself, or simply lying because you got nothing else to go with your “it’s okay to keep nerfing him” thought.
This is no low tier/mock character suddenly Capcom boosts without an ounce of thought and people start experimenting with him because he’s suddenly become viable.
People have already explored the character, we know what we can do.
In fact nobody would’ve raged and gone as far as petitioning on Unity if that was were they stopped. If it was st.HK it would’ve made good matchup worse and stripped Akuma of grounded pressure, which would still be acceptable, though depressing.
But it’s not the only thing they touched (see ShinAkuma post above).
no, i dont think any characters player base wants their character to be nerfed
but clearly, most of the vocal guys here think akuma has a weak ground game, and most of you dont even think he’s top tier. when it comes down to it, youre always talking about tourney wins, which dont mean much if the best players arent playing the character
you can say akuma is hard to use, and requires practice, or whatever, but you cant deny that he has a beastly bag of tools. i mean really, whats he lose to?, like 3-4 characters. accept that you play the next best character outside the top 3, and in this series, that means you get nerfs
well, you cant. people would look at you like you were crazy. but if you look at every game in the sf4 series, the top 5 or so characters are consistently nerfed. fei missed his nerf in super, somehow got buffed, ended up S tier in AE
akuma keeps getting nerfed because he is always in the top 5. so when changes happen, you shouldnt be all that suprised. in fact, whenever the next blog comes along, i’ll poop my pants if fei dosent have anything else happening to him
anyway, point being that somewhere along the line, you have to stop saying that (tool x) isnt that great. the only thing that isnt really good when you look at the whole character is the glass jaw
also dont get me wrong, im not saying that capcom has the very best design philosophy in terms of balance, but this is what they do
You do realize that back dashes in general are too damn good in this game.
What ever happened to just blocking? I mean seriously the ground mix ups in this game are weak compared to SF2 or SF3 and you didn’t have easy escape options in those games.
Not to mention you can still OS HK off s.LP against a lot if charcters
Nerfing s.lk is a pointless suggestion that doesn’t do anything. I can still OS sweep and OS HK anyways.
You wonder why people are hostle toward your idea it is because you don’t really understand what you are suggesting.
I’d say that particular match-up is 5.5-4.5 in Ryu’s favour. Very difficult to Vortex, fs.HK whiffs on low block and Ryu seems to have slightly better zoning tools. It’s a very even match-up though, because the air fireball and anti-focus demon are both very useful.
The problems with Dudley are related alot to his character design and how it interacts with this game. On paper he is still very similar to his 3s incarnation and thus looks good. Unfortunately in a game where defensive options are so strong an aggressive character like Duds suffers.
This is the thing, we get all these posters in here who either have no clue about the character or about the game and they feel their ideas merit a long discussion. You don’t get a substantial discussion when you don’t make any sense.
You just can’t talk with guys who are not aware of what nerfs Akuma received since vanilla.
When Capcom nerfed Df grab recovery,loop,stun,air tatsu and some damage (DP/sweep/shakunetsu/EX tatsu),I personaly accepted the most of those nerfs because it was justified,like almost all Akuma players here.
But now,Capcom is about to change his gameplay (aka df palm/frwd throw),and those nerfs are too much, so what is the next step,decreasing his sweep startup for no more vortex because tatsu crossup/sweep is overpowered too?So yeah give me 900PV/900 stun.
I would accept the Far Hk nerf if they’d give a compensation like hitting 2 hits on every character by example,but no,Capcom give some useless buffs so yeah we are not agree.
I use it in frame traps all the time and many characters I would OS HK against (Abel, Rog, etc.) it hits just fine against. It only really whiffs on characters like Ryu, Chun, or others with a low crouching hitbox. For a lot of the characters OSed s.HK doesn’t have a good follow up or whiffs entirely. It is usually the characters who have a crappy back dash that you can OS HK against.
But again what good does nerfing s.LK accomplish? It isn’t like OSed HK is any more powerful than half the OSes in this game. Tons of characters can OS their Ultra to punish back dashing.
And we are being hostile because the amount of ignorance that people come in here with is astounding.
