Rose: except it doesnt put you in a advantageous situation 100% of the time.
If you activate it out of panic, and the opponent walks up to you and block both orbs, is that really “resetting” the situation? youve done marginal chip damage at best, and they still are in your face. all youve done is slow down the guessing game for a second. assuming they have 4 meters they can still go in from there and make you pay.
not to mention command grabs blowing it up too (even though you can hold up to avoid the command grab, that kills rose’s positioning. not free either.
all i know is the good players sometimes nullify my u2, easil. and when im ont he recieving end of it i really dont mind it that much, nor do i have trouble getting out of it. its like a waaaay weakened strider/doom orbs (wrong game, I know.)
I’m used to playing characters that are free as fuck on wakeup, so I don’t mind blocking…(sim) but the ultra 2 was really something that completed her “puzzle”, and any changes to it will make her good matchups worse. I wonder how she would beat Ibuki, Abel, Viper, all those characters need a good ultra 2 to go up against
Luffy: dude seriously? i mean you of all people should know, that yeah, Rose has not been maximized. Matchups in fighting games take like 2-5 years to figure out well (to figure out how to REALLY play the game…) and we havent even quite hit that threshold yet. the ruleset is changing yet again before we get a chance to truly learn the matchips in super. And there are matches that of course every rose player doesnt know, partially due to her being a console only character for 3 iterations of the game now.
I love Soul Satellite though. Too bad it doesn’t shoot lasers like Strider’s…and not go away on block. Rose could feasibly have a teleport too. Bison does, why not? IAT Soul Satellite mixups, blockstrings, chip damage, laser lockdown, few dozen unblocks. I’m down with that. No, I’m not being sarcastic. I love ridiculous things in fighting games, probably why I like Arcana Heart lol.
Too bad nobody at the loc test knew shit about Rose I guess.
…nerfing vega?? SERIOUSLY? damn near laughable.
and sure, he seems to be getting more buffs than nerfs… but i don’t see any need to nerf the guy at all… it’s already usually an uphill battle for him (which is dumb considering he was a “boss” character in the past lol.
of course, many characters got the shaft even worse, so i’m not really as upset as i may sound…
I get what your saying now knock the Ultra down and build up the character, but dont do both. I kind of agree with this, but i think its possible to fix her character fundamentals with out nerfing U2, but i could see how that would be used as a garunteed way of making sure this doesnt happen (i dont agree with that i think thats kind of lazy but i get the logic it would be like fail safe).
Re Hilde:I dont think they have to outlaw/remove it because like you said earlier she not all that great of a chracter outside of a coulpe of things, i havent played in a bit but doesnt C3B track left to fair degree and grant frame advantage? ( i might have this confused with another move i don’t know hildes compands by name i know the animations ill look it up later.) On the botton binding i disagree as a Pad Playing Ivy that would make my life a much darker hell.lol
She wouldn’t. I’ll just be like Vanilla again where one knockdown against Gief means death, one TT from Abel means you’re fucked without a good read, etc.
I mean, we’ve dealt with it for a year during Vanilla and the good Rose players can do it again if it was necessary, but why should it be? I don’t see why a Ultra that sees daylight maybe 2-3 times a match average, can be baited/ran away from, and only momentarly shifts momentum in your favor should be nerfed.
Don’t get too hung up on the word “broken.” Alot of us here use it to denote something that is really good, relative to the game. It doesn’t mean that it is an instant win button or anything.
For those of you who keep saying that U2 isn’t really fucking good, why you crying so hard then that its getting nerfed? U2 owns, and all of us will be sad to see it get nerfed. Everyone is getting big nerfs though, so keep the salt to a minimum.
And the people saying crap like “make soul piede overhead!” and other nonsense, what are you doing in this thread, honestly.
Balancing Street Fighter is a delicate process. Capcom giveth and Capcom taketh away.
lol off topic SC4-ness. You’re thinking about C3A, the move that does everything. I wasn’t talking about binding B+Ks and whatever, I’m talking about how pad Hilde players would map two As and two Bs so they could use their normals while holding a charge. It would break the charge, but this was an advantage that stick players didn’t have access to. Say if you were saving for a C3A, but weren’t there yet and needed an emergency 2A. You could do that, but other players couldn’t, and would instead get a FC C1A or something, which would be bad.
We probably will never know the full details until the new version of the game officially comes out in December. If Rose’s U2 is indeed nerfed, we will find our way around it; it’s all about adaptation, and adjusting accordingly.
Just sharing their opinion, sheesh. Ok fine, you are better at this game than most others, congrats. You are also coming across like a rude obnoxious brat. what’s more important to you?
I used to say that an overhead would be awesome and after reading what a lot of people are saying in here i’ve changed my mind about it and agree that she would be imbalanced. That’s what these forums are for. Fans of the game who have an opinion and want to learn more about it, not just a place for elitist punks to grandstand. Get over yourself.
Jeez, you guys have blown this U2 thing way out of proportion.
Point is, with U2, it was nice to have as wake up option, for pressure and for mix ups. Anyone who mained her in vanilla knows how frustrating it is to just have to sit there and wait until the opponent either misses an opportunity to continue pressure or you make a good read.
Despite what Rose says, U2 doesn’t ALWAYS put you in an advantageous position. It puts you in an offensive position, but unless your opponent is cornered, no real damage is guaranteed (and even then it isn’t unless you count chip). If you’re landing 500 damage off of every Soul Satellite activation, I need to watch you play, because that is definitely not the average amount of damage I’ve been able to get with it. I land 500 damage when my opponent fucks up bad and I have both Super and a full Ultra meter.
Plenty of characters have ways to counter the orbs and sometimes they don’t even need to counter them. Simply blocking them negates Rose’s offense and momentum. Now she’s down on health with no real reversal and she has to work to get that potential damage back. Doesn’t really sound advantageous to me. Sounds like you broke even, actually.
The Ultra in question helps her in matches with characters that have mix ups. Honestly, the matches where I would see orbs being the most useful (Bison, Cammy, Abel, Viper, Ibuki, etc.) would just put her back to where she was in vanilla (which is not good) if Ultra 2 is nerfed.
HOWEVER, since this is all wild speculation and was only for a location test to gather data and information for the eventual release of the ARCADE version, none of us can know for sure how this would affect Rose if the changes made their way to the console versions. Plenty of other characters got some rather arguable nerfs in the context of the console version, but outside of the context of that specific game, we wouldn’t know if they were nerfs or buffs or simple changes, as to keep the game balanced.
I think we all want it to stay one reason or another which why we are here defending it in hopes that somebody from Capcom is looking at this an see that we all generally agree this is a damn good ultra but its not so good it should be shoot to hell because some ppl havent tried to get around it besides letting the clock run 5-10 sec while they scurry away to the the corners of the stage with rose hot on their ass. Im saying have some NUTS! try a poke or two see what happens and if t doesnt work try something else until you find something that work for you.
Heh, the input’s actually fine. It’s the only Ultra that you can’t BS mash your way out, you actually have to be precise with it. It actually helps since now you’re less likely to panic using it, otherwise EX Reflect comes out and you’re dead…
I’ve always thought that U2 was the better ultra, and I like ultra 1 more.
@Sabin - The chip blockstun puts you in a better situation then you were before. Command grabs? You’re really gonna bring up command grabs on me? If you get command grabbed out of U2, it’s because you deserved to be command grabbed, not because U2 put you at a disadvantageous position.
@KD Alpha - Never said I did 500 damage everytime I activate the ultra. I’m saying that I do have the ability to do good damage and can activate it wherever I am on the screen. This is to the people who said U2 needed a damage buff, not really to the support of U2 being broken.
And I’ll say it once again, U1 is my ultra of choice, though I use U2 about 60% of the time.
And especially now, when I’m practicing U1 because U2 got its much needed nerf.
AND TO ADD ON;
They’re not gonna take away Rose’s best tool and give other people amazing tools. They aren’t going to take away Rose’s best tool and not give her something in return.
