Save yourself some time and get the Game Capture HD by Avermedia. All you need is a component input or HDMI. Records up to 1080p and is amazing.

Or if you want to use your PC to stream/capture the Live Gamer HD has worked pretty well for me.
Also useful if you want to make a live recording or stream of a PC game.

And for the record, while having the capability of going to 1080p is nice and all, you still want to record games at 720p because I’ve yet to see a device that does 1080p@60fps

For the purpose of recording a fighting game, 720p is more than enough. all that matters is that things are clear enough to see such as the characters (for pinpoint spacing) and meter/health for obvious reasons. Anything beyond is unnecessary.

I agree. I said records UP to 1080p. I strictly record my matches in 720. 1080p is way to large of a file when you get done. Uploading that is a bitch and then on top of that Youtube takes forever to process the file.

I started figuring out how to play Gouken when I played a little game in my head with him. I called it defend the castle. Pick the grey Infiltration colors and then just crouch Gouken down - he looks like a little castle. You’re job is to defend the castle from the enemy.

From the crouch position, you have pretty much every move to stop an approaching opponent. Cr. MP will stop them from walking toward you, Cr. MK will stop any close jump ins, Cr. HP will stop any long jump ins. Of course once you stand up you can use St. HP to stop even longer jump ins and St. HK to tag ones even longer than that as well as Cs.HK for people above you. For me it was way easier to learn all these defensive normals then try to EX Tatsu on reaction.

You also have to throw fireballs and fake fireballs every time its safe because even if they’re not hitting it will cause the opponent to want to come at you. I don’t even think of them as fireballs anymore, more of just annoying baits to get opponents to jump into EX Tatsu’s and start flinching at S.MP as if it was fireball.

Also, my motto whenever I’m not sure what exactly to do is Crouch, Wait, React Accordingly. In other words just freeze and get ready to counter any attack with the correct normal button. You’d be surprised how many people will get impatient and jump in or just walk into a sweep. Besides that I work a lot on being able to manually safe jump with MK and LK, and cross up Gouken Flips on the whole cast because it sets up 40% damage combos. After you take off that much life, opponents will start acting even stupider so you just have to react more calmly.

Thats funny i started that on pad a whileback too…now i got eighhtarc…

can anybody tell me why I find it physically impossible to use cs.hk as an antiair?

I dunno I whiff with it a lot. I mean it comes out but either its facing the wrong direction or its too late. Guess you just have to know an opponent is going to attempt a cross up when you’re not in knockdown…

Also watch Takinflight’s videos on his HK Gouken Flip cross ups on hard knock down after forward throw. Changed my whole game and great players tell me that I’m scary once I get a knockdown now.

One small change also made top level players take my gouken seriously… Press Down-HK right before every MP when you’re coming down with Gouken Flip dive kick (AKA Option Select a sweep). Catches backdash on people who think they can focus dash out of gouken’s aerial assault and forces opponents to take your frametraps and throw game head on. Following the Crouch and React strategy in combination with this small change makes Gouken on the level with high tier IMO.

It activates per proximity… As crazy as this sounds walk towards them then do it… It’s pretty good on neutral jumps and when people try tick jumping on you.

Oh no… Don’t let the haters seeing you taking strats from Takin… Lol.

Here are two stick newbs battling it out. Yeah I installed a new pcb so now I get lag-less inputs. Here’s how I can end up playing now. No more random kongos from sitting on DB, higher consistency on ultra 2, lower consistency on cr.hp xx EX palm, slower reaction time on EX tatsu, less consistency on dash inputs and fireballs, more consistency on cr.mk/cr.hp xx flip as an AA (not shown in video), and high consistency on low normal xx flip (the biggie here).

from the looks of it, you don’t play any consistent at all, and it is therefore absolutely NO USE!

kidding aside, the video has trouble loading

easy on the little fellow gouken there, at least he’s trying!!! just one advice AGAIN!!! use your overhead!!! period!!!

Someone else told me about this as well. My recent videos aren’t loading for mobile users. It might be because of how I’m exporting them from Premier CS6. Will have to replicate the problem to figure that out.

Is the cthulhu known for having laggy inputs? There have been so many times where I seemingly missed a punish after a block and gouken just seemed to sit there still blocking. Do other characters just have that much block advantage?

I’ve never used one but considering how Cthulus are made by a community member and the fact it’s so popular, I imagine it doesn’t have a drastic amount of lag because someone sure as hell would’ve noticed ages ago.

Have you tested other controllers? If so and you’re getting the same thing, it’s either that your perception of blockstun duration has changed or your TV has lag you didn’t notice before.

Not sure why you’re posting in the video thread. Maybe you should post up a recording if my answers aren’t what you’re looking for.

Okay, so, some matches from the very same guy last friday.

I think it was good that I started losing and then figured out my way ahead and begun winning.

After the last fight I won another but he disconnected on me.

Feedback WILL be appreciated.

that Ultra 1 you pulled off in the jungle stage was sweet.

you are playing pretty great, my man! You won the Deejay match too. If you’re the same guy who posted some videos a while back, then you’ve come along a great deal!

also, I’m adding a signature to my posts from now on., hehe…

Yutsuo:

I think you have really good reactions and match up knowledge is getting there. What you need to see is in the jungle stage. Round 2. He does his rising jaguar which you blocked and he landed right in front of you. You correctly went to punish and landed the cr. hp. You were trying to combo into ex palm. You didn’t because your inputs were all over the place and you were mashing mp + hp. You need to be more precise with your inputs and you need to press the buttons at the end of the motion, not 8 thousand times during the motion. TRAIN.
