SSF4 AE Cammy Changes and Discussion

Any normals feel different? Like, range wise? How about CSpike, any difference in range. I know it is hard to say this after 3 matches, but I don’t think I will play the AE any time soon (Europe isn’t getting any arcade cabinets) and I really want to know what to expect.

We have AE in Paris (at “vs dojo”) but I won’t pay for it.

Why? How much is it?

James, that’s exactly what I was afraid of. I was talking to another Cammy that said a lot of the same thing. She can kinda sorta get in, but it’s hard staying in. Playing Cammy is like playing a whole new character, but playing yang/yun, it’s like playing the Cammy we’re all used to.

Man they could’ve fixed all this simply by making her normal CS strikes use the animation and movement from the EX CS (minus the hit/block stun and free height limits). But I guess adding Yun and Yang means Cammy gets to ride in the back of the bus now.

I saw few videos of ae cammy and all shows players doing EXCS too predicted.
BUT, day after day I’m getting more disappointed.

EX Cannon Strike was also nerfed, it has less blockstun. By at least 3 frames, maybe more.

Yes. But no more EX Cannon Strike into EX or normal Cannon Strike. It’s now +15 at best and that combo requires +16.

Maybe they upped the damage though? :frowning:

That wouldn’t work anyway due to the height restriction on normal strike.

It’s like they nerfed everything that made her good, but then forgot to give her any new options other than “HAY YOUR JABS AREN’T SHIT NOW”. Like at least buff her throw range up to not total shit or something too. BTW I wonder if you can kara far HP now? Sure it doesn’t work with her shit throw range even if you can, but that would be awesome =/.

It would probably work nicely, hp moves forward quite far.

they lierally have made cammy no fun at all anymore. its really fun doing normal canon strikes at full screen. not even spamming to build meter but i think it scares ure opponent if he sees u doing it, he knows u have good esecution. it was a mind game in itself. tbh i really dont think cammy would be very fun without it. its what brings all parts of her game together, without it shes just boring IMO.

i dont even know why they took it away at all. its not as if shes unbeatable, and not many ppl use her at all. DAMN YOU SAKO!

The reason for the AE dive kick being so high is just pure laziness on Capcom’s programmers. @ SoCal Region, Stein and I were talking about this back then and I said @ that time, they would make it just like Juri’s dive kicks because the height restriction code is already in the game, there’s no incentive to write a new height restriction code just for Cammy. And now, it is true!

I am going to wait a while before I hit a semi-local arcade (20 min drive from my house), after all the initial hype for AE has died down a bit. Didn’t want to be like James, waiting 3 hours for 3 games and only to be raped and lining up quarters again…

So it seems like she’s reverting back to SSF2T style Cammy with good normals but hard to stay close… I believe her worst matches now will be any type zoning play style… just like SSF2T Cammy…

It’s definitely worse than Juri’s height restriction though. Cammy’s is 12F in the air, or exactly 1/3 of total jump arc.

Negative edge + immediate tap will be the new way to do minimum height (12th frame) dive kicks consistently. 3 chances to hit that minimum height requirement.
