Treat Adon’s wake-up like Cammy’s. It has the same timing and incurs ostensibly the same setups.
There is hilarious irony to me in the fact that Adon went from being ass-busted on wake-up to safe-jumpable. Seriously, someone at Capcom has an awesome sense of humour.
[S]Probably the same asshat who gave Yun’s final incarnation approval.[/S]
But his DP (Rising Jaguar) is less invulnerable than Cammy’s right, or at least I remember it that way… So what do you recomend: Dive Kicks to stuff the regular ones or Palm whiffs to bait and punish?
both actually, the main idea vs chars who are free on wakeup is to mix your options so that they try to escape if they see something different…too bad both options are 100% safe. Then you can move on to more gimmicky setups like crossup tatsu or empty palm cr.lk or even DF throw
also, vs Adon I rarely use EX meter. I try to get super asap, because it punishes all jaguarkicks/tooth on block which leads to a sweet knockdown…which leads to the always loved Vortex. So my gameplan vs adon is to zone him until he gets U1 then actually start baiting him and playing footsies. Also I tend to use U2 vs him, since I can teleport for free without the fear of being OS or U1ed.
Keep it varied. Personally I’ve been performing forward throw, dash x2, j.hk, delay tech. My main goal being to bait out his bullshit which is especially effective right now given that so many Adon’s have been pituitary retards when it comes to being knocked down (i.e. they’ve been waking up with something insane - dashes, lp, dps, you name it).
If the opponent is smart, they’ll have an ‘oh shit’ moment and realise that their cheeky days are over. From here you can begin to condition them akin to say Balrog in that you can get to the point where a free flip grab for example is there for the taking, among the rest of your classic vortex options which until now have effectively been denied on this prick. Adon’s haven’t had to deal with Akuma’s bullshit but we’ve had to deal with his. The tide has now turned and its pretty damn funny.*
There’s a reason GamerBee has strayed from Adon a little. While not the full deal, I expect his corrected wake-up game to be a good part of it. He can be pressured properly now.
Good Adons are still a difficult match in my opinion though
Thanks! I haven’t played this game all week, but this weekend I’m going to join the fray again and there’s a few annoying Adon players I know I can beat, but always lose to because, as you said, there was never anything we could do to them due to their fucked up wakeup. Now I know I can get in there and cause some damage…
A few random things I’ve discovered, nothing particularly advanced…
On Gouken, a great defense/punisher for any one of his demon flips is to dash forward (under the flip) and punish with just about whatever you want (Demon, sweep, BnB).
On Hakan, when practicing my links, I noticed that it seems to be impossible to do a cr.MP - cs. HP link on him, because fs. HP always comes out. Also, Hakan has a setup (after a hard knockdown) where he does oil dive. Hakan can time it so that it grabs on the first frame of wakeup (as I understand it, every character has 1 frame where they’re standing immediately after wakeup), so even if you’re holding down you’ll still get grabbed. Reversal DP seems to be the way to stuff this setup.
Ok something people should know. Ibuki can set up an unblockable off seckbreaker anywhere on the screen. It works against Akuma so you may want to be aware of it. After a Neckbreaker the set up is command dash forward, jump LK.
It’s actually a dirty set up because she can choose to Kunai as well.
What can i do against an heavy turtling claw? He walks too fast, my normals are no matches against his, most of the times, cuz he’s crouched and pressuring me, he has that charge kick AA or those wall ex attack if i try to runaway.I get the idea to fight him like chunli, a knockdown then vortex as much as possible but getting an UKD is hard. Any help?
Glad this topic got made. From vanilla to AE, match ups have changed significantly across the board.
I don’t know what to do vs Deejay right now. It’s like a fighting a new character. I doubt rush down is the answer. His new tools remind me of Guile with more offensive firepower.
need to stress out that forward throw dash*2 normal jump HK doesn’t work against ex up kick.
also probably have to tell them that different divekick safejump on reversal block/stand block makes deejay land on different sides. so punishment is different
I just tested and this set up is safe to all his reversal options. If you are being hit it is because you aren’t dashing ASAP or not jumping soon enough. In fact you can jump too soon and whiff your HK. It is a hard setup to perfect, but it can be done with practice.
I’m not sure what you’re referring to. If you are talking about where the different versions of upkicks put him it isn’t difficult to react to once you know what you are looking for.
I’m sorry folks, been training Yun for some days but decided to return to the Demon. I was looking for a character that wasn’t as much dependent to matchups and specific setups on a matchup basis but then i found out that Yun is even worse.
So, new questions:
1st: Ultra 2: Now that we can use s.hp as a frame trap leading to hadou fadc s.hp xx U2, do you guys think some matchups should change the use of ultra? I’m testing U2 against the twins, can’t see myself using U1 as an anti-air against them and haven’t learned any punish options with u1 against them. Wuddya think?
2nd: Wake-up dragon kicks from yun: How to deal with THAT?
alright…i’ve tested my stuff as well. and for my result and afaik forward throw dash*2 jump hk doesn’t work on 4framer like guile flashkick, guy ex tatsu, deejay ex upkick, yun ex upkick. so im confused as of why u say its possible. are you sure about that?
and what im reffering to is.
if u safejump and block crouching deejay light up kick will end up behind akuma.
if u safejump and block standing deejay will end up infront of akuma
other weird stuff as well with his heavy up kick and ex upkick.
tbh, sometimes the stuff u/others post really contradicts with my what i know and its really irritating because its either gonna cause a debate or its embarrasing when i am wrong.
such as recently nuskool posted about blanka wakeup normal and even posted a frame table about it. but enterbrain frame data proof otherwise.
but as far as my instinct tells me bloody blanka wakesup late thats for sure. i pm’ed him but no response for weeks already.
You are aware that DeeJay gets up 1 frame slower than normal? In essence his ex upkicks is a 5 frame reversals because of his slower wake up. I suggest you test this for yourself.
This setup works on Deejay. If you find that it is not working you need to adjust your timing.
The best bet is to enter training mode and test how his upkicks respond to a low block (most common block) and become accustomed on how to punish. That’s how I learned.
